We originally purchased the 20 acres of untouched land and built our cabin, the "Snug Shack," as a getaway from the city.  Fast forward a few years, and 40 acres next door with an abandoned house on the canyon ridge went up for sale. We decided to purchase it and start a homestead there. That 40 acres where we now live was badly abused, and we have been in the process of cleaning up and restoring it.  Fortunate for you, the land surrounding the Snug Shack was never abused and is still pristine and beautiful. By camping at the Snug Shack, you help support us in our mission to restore this beautiful place. We named our homestead after the rings of small oak trees that grow here on the ridge.: "Oak Ring Ridge." Second Trip to the Snug Shack!
This was my second trip to the Snug Shack and it was better than the first. Everything was fantastic and we got to hike/explore more of the property. Such a beautiful property that is surrounded by amazing National Forest and BLM land. The hosts are awesome and kind, as well as make themselves available if needed. On this trip, we had a wild horse run right through the Snug Shack area (about 20 feet from the shack) around 8am and it was super cool. The wild horese are so beautiful and majestic. We also saw a scorpion while chopping wood, which was also super cool. I look forward to coming back next summer and exploring more of the land.

Seclusion in the Trees
Love the remote location in the trees! Totally private, peaceful, and quiet. Although we drove a minivan here, it's still best that you come in a higher clearance vehicle due to about a mile of gravel and dirt road. The water piping and solar electrical are really well done, and the cabin, although simple in design, insulates fairly well and has loving design touches. Note that the loft bed is quite impressed/worn in the center, but we ended up sleeping with our camping gear on the floor with our baby. Outdoor shower was wonderful! Would come back again if we came through! Thank you.

Don’t miss out!
This was probably the cutest place I’ve ever stayed! I love how serene the area was and how safe you felt! There is a locked date leading to your driveway so you don’t question strangers driving past. The outdoor toilet and shower were so cute and perfect for sky gazing!

Future Revisit!
This was such a charming lil destination for my family and I. It accommodated all of our needs while still remaining minimal to give that off the grid wilderness experience. We did encounter some issues with the solar power but the Host was very attentive and came out to fix the issue as soon as we notified them. We would definitely stay here again. There is plenty of open space to explore and the nearby lake was very quaint and relaxing to cool off from the hot days we had while there. Sarah and Andy were very kind and willing to answer any questions we had, they even let us borrow their Dutch oven because we forgot to pack ours.
