Rainbow moon cabin
The little cabin was nestled in the rocky foothills near Warner Springs with a profound quiet in the air. It kept warmth without a heat source, had plenty of blankets, and the night sky was sublime, with a double rainbow around the moon one night.
Access to the retreat center kitchen and the bathrooms was easy, with plenty of hot water for a shower. The retreat center environment gave off a calming air.

Our stay was so wonderful . Quiet - serene - beautiful - relaxing and meditational.
My wife and I brought our dogs and let them free roam the whole weekend . It was a perfect “glamping” location with access to amenities and shower / restroom / kitchen , but staying in private earthship cabin. We definitely want to return asap. Saw more stars at night then in Borrego ! The hosts were awesome and generous . Highly recommended .

Beautiful quiet glamping spot!
Amazing spot far enough from San Diego and secluded enough from the main property. Very quiet, amazing place to star gaze and breathe in some fresh air. The Hermitage was cozy even with lows in the 30s. Beautiful property and will definitely be back soon!

Friendly and accessible hosts, but also hands off and allow you your privacy. There were no other guests while I was there. Warm overnight in the dwelling, despite overnight lows in the 30s. Excellent stargazing and beautiful views. Extremely quiet with lots of birds in the nearby Chapparral. Bulls and deer in the distance.
The communal kitchen is extremely well equipped with fridge, freezer, and a giant stove. Lots of cookware. You can cook anything you could dream of here, no need to stick to typical portable stove camping meals.

The perfect place for a personal retreat. Access to communal kitchen and bathrooms, but with the privacy of your own little house on the hill. Immersed in nature, but more comfortable than camping. Energy feels right for transformational work, but also brings peace and calm. Wish I had more time to spend there.

Desert Dream
So much love was made here.
Upon arrival, Caitriona greeted us with so much magic and wonder! Which appropriately set the tone for our entire trip there. The hut on the hill was everything that I could imagine as we disconnected and came one with nature. The howling of the coyotes and overall breathe of the desert was everything that one could ask for. My highlight was dancing among the labyrinth and sealing our stay with sharing a meal with Michele and Caitriona. This stay was really something and I have officially made it my go to retreat when needing an escape from the beach. I am so grateful to come across this listing and know that everyone else who is fortunate enough to have a stay here will feel the same. With so much love…Devin, Leemond and Nicki xo

Had an absolutely wonderful time staying on Catriona and Michele’s land. They are so kind and generous and truly care about the land they have and the people they share their space with. Everything is so clean and I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend where my dog could run to his hearts content. I packed food, but it was nice to see a kitchen full of everything you’d needed to cook there. I was glad I packed a headlamp so we could enjoy the sunset from the labyrinth and still explore a little before walking back to the hermitage after it got dark. The hermitage was comfy at night and tucked in a secluded spot. Can’t wait to stay again. It is truly a gem!

Peace
Just what I needed! All the basics are covered. Huge full kitchen, bathroom and shower, sweet covered patio to lounge at A few cozy blankets, the books and the instruments some food and I was set for a weekend of complete relaxation.
Beautiful views from the valley. The little adobe shack stayed pretty cozy. Felt safe and peaceful.

Gorgeous with Room for Improvement
Absolutely beautiful location and friendly host. The solitude was magical and most of what I needed was provided for. A few ways to improve: my room did not have a heater and it got very cold at night. The wifi in the main house was incredibly slow, and I could hear rodents scurrying back and forth in the walls and attic! Cleanliness was a major issue, and the men's bathroom especially was in very bad condition. And overall I believe that the cost was too high for what I was offered.

Reflect, disconnect and unwind
For anyone looking to be in nature, meditate, reflect, and disconnect I would 100% reccommend staying with Caitriona and Michele. Kind and welcoming, the hermitage is nestled back away from everyone else for ultimate privacy. My partner and I went up there for only one night to get away after a hectic work week and even after a short time there we felt so much better, and at peace. The land is magic! :)

Amazing and serene
Amazing! Will definitely be coming back. It’s so quiet, serene, and incredibly set up. You have everything you need. It so incredibly private and the room is spacious. You could see the stars so well and the drive isn’t too bad either!

Wonderful stay! Property was absolutely beautiful and very private. Would love to come and stay again.
The hermitage is very private with two twin beds. It stayed very warm during our visit despite the 35 degree low. Wonderful stay!

Tranquil. Beautiful. Refreshing.
The grounds were absolutely beautiful and peaceful. I appreciated all of the reviews that helped us feel extra prepared! The kitchen was fully stocked, including a full-size shared refrigerator. The hermitage truly did stay warm at night, we just used one layer of blankets and didn't need to sleep in multiple layers of clothes, even in February. Definitely bring a headlamp to walk to the bathroom at night otherwise you're going to wish you did! :) The stars were absolutely BRIGHT and STUNNING! <3 We had an absolutely tranquil night away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There truly is something special about this property and the wonderfuls etting Caitriona & Michele have created. We will definitely be back!

What a beautiful place to stay! The cabin was so cozy, perfect for my partner, my dog and I, and with such a beautiful view, peace and quiet, and so much open land to enjoy. The stargazing was incredible, and my pooch loved running around off-leash. Caitriona was very welcoming, informative and helpful. She showed us around when we arrived and was responsive to our messages throughout the stay. We didn't see any of the other residents on the property after the initial meeting so it felt very secluded and COVID-safe. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a delicious meal. We enjoyed visiting Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and Borrego Springs nearby, as well as a couple of very cute little wineries just 10 or 15 minutes drive north on 79 from the property. We will definitely be staying here again!

Caitriona and Michele were friendly and helpful hosts, and I had a wonderfully peaceful and quiet stay in the hermitage. The grounds were well kept, the kitchen and bathroom were clean, the hermitage was comfortable, and the views were fantastic. I would definitely stay here again.

A special place
Michele & Caitriona’s place was nothing less than AMAZING. The property has “desert meets vineyard” vibes. Cacti & big rolling green hills. My friend and I had a private humble abode that was PERFECT. It kept warm at night since it’s large windows bring in the sun. I will absolutely be going back... maybe once every three months for a “reset”! The land’s spirituality is palpable. I can’t wait to go back & get more in touch with nature, the land, and myself.
