Stargazing from the tipi!
We loved life in the tipi! The views were amazing! It was so silent that we could hear the owls. We felt close to nature and Native American life. The bathroom was modern, clean and a pleasant surprise! We can’t wait to go back!

Best weekend stay!
Ken and Diana were amazing! They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and gave us a little history tour of the land. It was awesome. The land is definitely a labor of love. The tent/rv spot was perfect for a weekend stay. The land was taken care of, the bathrooms were a great perk, and the ranch animals made the trip! We will be back. :)

My son and husband loved the site, it had a swing, a fun faux mine shaft, great rocks to climb and explore, super friendly barn cats, mini horses, everything to entertain curious campers. The host's were very accommodating and were kind enough to postpone the trip since it was a terrible rainy and cold day/night but my son wanted to camp anyway so they toughed it out. They want to go back in the summer to explore the great property more and enjoy that the place has to offer without the cold :)

When we arrived at our site we were welcomed with open arms. Diana and Ken are two of the loveliest people we’ve ever met. They showed us so many unique and interesting historic landmarks on their beautiful property. We can’t wait to return and say hello to their cat Ouray who is also the most friendly and inviting kitty we’ve ever met, I think it runs in the family.

We loved it!
We had a blast! We have 2 kids, 10 and 13 and this was a perfect place for our family. Our daughter loved petting the horses, mini horses, and playing on the tree swings that they have throughout the ranch. There's so much history on this ranch as well. The host shared some special areas of the ranch with a rich history. We will definitely be back. Diana and her husband are wonderful hosts.

Perfect Get-Away!
We had such an amazing time!! I booked the tipi for my family of four and my husband ended up having to travel for work at the last minute. I decided to keep my reservation and take my 6-year-old twins for a girl's trip. Diana and Ken went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. Ken shared the history of the ranch and was so passionate about the area. It was hot during the day, but there was plenty of shade and places to relax, and then it cooled down at night. The microwave and bathroom made it a really easy and enjoyable camping trip while solo parenting. I couldn't recommend this place more! If you are thinking about booking, pull the trigger. :) Thank you Diana and Ken and your wonderful family and pets for the great weekend.

Awesome Experience
The stay here definitely exceeded expectations! The hosts were so nice and hospitable but also allowed for you to have your freedom and create your own experience. The ranch history, animals, and hiking trails were all amazing. We definitely wish we could have stayed for longer. This is definitely a hidden gem!

Great camping trip with family!
This site was a little gem! The ranch, the horses, the kittens who my 11yr old fell in love with, the amenities and the peaceful surroundings, were great!
Diana and Ken are great hosts and so sweet! Ken stopped by a few times to make sure everything was ok, gave us a little history of the ranch which was awesome. Diana gave us pointer to trails on property and it was great way to explore the ranch.
Will definitely be back in the cooler months, perhaps on a new moon to enjoy the stars :)

What a wonderful place to camp! Diana and Ken are amazing hosts and make you feel right at home. The peace and quiet was just what I needed, and the teenagers with me thoroughly enjoyed the animals, the hikes and the nightly propane fire pit. We will be back!

Sweetwater Tipi Camp
Unique and one of a kind!
My family had a great time staying at the Sweet Water Tipi Camp during Memorial Holiday weekend. The other family camping in the tent area also had twin girls that played and loved visiting the local little ponies and horses. I'm glad we brought extra warmth and bedding for a decent nights sleep. I do wish I brought ear plugs for the rooster that seemed to start at 4am. We were also able to move over a picnic table closer to the tipi to make our own cooking area and happy we brought a cooking stove. We found that the fire place cooking area for the Tipi was located in an odd spot around the way for us. However, the tent camping area had a nice round fire pit ring. Fortunately we hit it off with the other family and shared with them in the more open traditional fire sitting ring.
Bring shade if you need and more lounging sitting options for outdoors. Extra warmth, ear plugs for the extra early rooster and daily horse caregivers working around the stables if you wish to nap. Over all a very unique spot and amazing hosts with great history and stories of the ranch.

Wonderful camping experience!
Diana was the perfect host and our family had the best time camping there. This was our first hipcamp experience, so I wasn't sure exactly what to expect - everything was great! They were so hospitable and friendly, clean facilities, gave detailed instructions on everything that was needed, including directions to a very cool nearby waterfall! Already planning our stay for the fall!

Sweetwater Tipi Camp
Expensive for what you get
1. Sleeping cushions where uncomfortable. Ground was uneven which made it impossible to be comfortable.
2. Did not allow us to bring our own firewood. Charged $10 for a few logs. Did not allow us to have a fire the first night because it was slightly windy.
3. No hot water in the bathroom. Actually, my husband had 30 seconds worth.
4. The $15 extra charge for the propane tank to heat the tipi. It did not hear the tipi and we turned it off before we went to bed (open flame) so it was pretty to look at for 10 minutes but totally worthless.
5. The kitchen was dirty. It had a microwave oven and there was a sink with cold water near the coral.
6. $173 + $15 + $10 uncomfortable sleep and no hot water.
If it had been half the price I would not complain but for the money, not worth it.

Couldn’t Ask for More
This was a perfect stay during Mother’s Day weekend. We brought our 23’ trailer and our daughter’s family stayed in the tipi. The horses were such a hit with our four-year-old grandchildren that they gave them names and treated them as new friends.
Diana & Ken were wonderful hosts, who gave us some historical insight on the property & were available if we needed them.

Sweetwater Ranch TRAILER Glamping
Peaceful Glamping
Such a peaceful location. RV was clean, comfortable and has all of the comforts of home. Weather was perfect. Diana’s glamping hipcamp is a wonderful homebase in a historical working ranch. Request a referral to go horseback riding in nearby Pine Valley. Also in Pine Valley is the Noble Canyon Trailhead, a favorite for SD mountain bikers. If you have a bigger family or a couple family groups, book the Tent/RV site and the Tipi. Diana can give you directions to a local’s gem, the Descanso waterfall or from the same trailhead you can hike a ways on the CA Hiking and Riding Trail. Three Sisters hike is a popular SD favorite that is only a short drive away. Friendly, knowledgeable hosts, great communicators, awesome location and accomodations. Thank you Diana and Ken. We’ll be back!

Friendly, Clean and Local History
Second time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Wonderfully friendly hosts who know the area well. Thanks for suggestion of shrimp burritos at restaurant next to Perkin’s Store. Yum!!! We love the local history and welcoming vibe. Fun to pet the horses and thanks for the referral to stables in Pine Valley. Was fun to ride a short part of the Noble Canyon trail on horseback. Would highly recommend Diana’s hipcamp!!!

I’m so happy my best friend and I decided to make this our quick get away from the city. It’s very clean and well taken care of. As soon as we arrived Diana gave us a tour of everything and answered any questions we had. Shortly after Clark let us help him feed the animals on the ranch. We had a wonderful time here celebrating a nice quiet birthday with my family. The owners were very friendly, infact everyone in town were friendly too. Our young kids enjoyed being in the wild west. The stars were amazing. We have never seen stars so bright and so many here in California. If you love to star gaze like we do, definety go here.

Lots of horses and nearby activities (hikes). I recommend Descanso falls and stonewall hike. Local food options are limited so consider bringing snacks with you. Diana and Ken are very welcoming. This is a very kid friendly spot!

Descanso Camping Paradise
This was the perfect tent/camp site with 32 acres of nature surrounding the property and a stream that flows through. The host was very helpful in providing info before and during our stay. There is clean running water, a nice kitchenette, and a cowboy themed bathroom. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this property. If booking in the spring, check the weather. It did get cold at night and we had unpredicable rain that had us ending our trip a day early. Bring your own linens for the shower. The post is accurate that the hot water only lasted a few minutes, but there is a well maintained shower. Nearby: Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, Perkins Store/Gas Station, Pam's Place sells homemade jams and pickles as well as local honey, not too far a drive to other trails.
