Kind, relaxed and lush.
We absolutely loved the campground. The young abundant vegetation gave it a fresh and lush feeling and the gravel allowed for easy parking of our camper tent. In the evening you’re able to make a campfire, grill some food and relax while enjoying the stars and sounds of nature.
Unfortunately we had a personal emergency and had to cut our trip short having to leave the camper behind. The owners of the campsite were incredibly kind and understanding and did everything they could to help us. I would recommend the campsite to everyone and hope myself to be able to come back soon.

Rad basecamp in heart of westcoast
Supremely located in the heart of southern Vancouver Island’s west coast, Sea Change Farm and Nursery makes for the perfect base camp to explore rugged coastlines, lush old growth forests, and eclectic seaside communities.
On the extraordinarily rainy September day that we arrived at Sea Change, host Navit met us at the entrance to the farm and welcomed us. Prior to meeting, Navit had been very responsive and provided detailed instructions for our arrival. After greeting Navit, we followed the driveway to the back of the property where the two sites are located, surrounded by wildflowers and other foliage. Large berms on either side of the sites offer lots of privacy, and one is able to immerse themselves in the quiet of nature.
As the rain poured down, we set up our camp, starting, unsurprisingly, with the awning. With camp established, we set out to explore the property. Just steps from the sites, and up a small hill, Navit has set up a small bench and hammock, perfect for lounging on a drier day than when we visited. Although we couldn’t enjoy them at the time, I can imagine the serenity of relaxing atop the hill, overlooking the trees below. A small trail lined with huckleberries cuts down the opposite side of the hill, presumably descending to the creek below, but given the moisture clinging to the brush at the time, we decided to not follow the trail to its conclusion. Farther back along the driveway is the pond, overlooked by Navit’s beautiful home. Beside the pond is a small rowboat, and a couple of ducks paddled their way across as we watched the rain fall, and skipped rocks across the surface.
After exploring the property, we decided to explore the nearby area, walking 40 minutes to the incredible Sheringham Lighthouse, well worth checking out. Along the way, and only a 5 minute walk from the property, is Shirley Delicious, a fantastic café and bakery, that was sadly closed when we visited, but can’t be missed if it’s open. Also nearby is a plethora of places to explore including the beautiful French Beach, Sandcut Beach, Jordan River, China Beach, and Sombrio Beach. Not only do these beaches offer amazing views and beachcombing opportunities, surfing too is a feature at many, but not necessarily for beginners.
Back at camp we hid from the rain and enjoyed the fire until retiring for the night, awaking the next day to a break in the clouds. Despite the poor weather, Sea Change Farm was a wonderful place to relax in the heart of the west coast, and I wouldn’t think twice about staying again.

Navit provided very helpful directions and was clear about what to expect (no facilities etc.). It worked well for a one night stay and the beaches in the area are very nice. Thanks Navit!

A slice of heaven
They were amazing hosts!! So kind, so hospitable, and the space itself felt like nobody was so far away from anyone else. It was lovely to wake up to roosters!

Very private! We had the entire site to ourselves. Beautiful pond on the property. We walked to a gorgeous lighthouse about a 2 hour round trip walk away.

Awesome spot with the right prep!
Beautiful backcountry spot!
Cons: not 100% ideal for car camping ie. cougar/bear warnings, bit of a rough ride in on tires/low-clearance vehicles, no picnic table or place to prep food
Pros: perfect central location to coastal sights and beaches, nice privacy shrubs between sites, awesome spot for an enclosed trailer with toilet facilities/food prep spaces.
Navit was a friendly, communicative host, and provided us with a small table and water whenever we needed it. Overall, highly recommend this spot with the right gear + prep!

Super friendly hosts and very accommodating. The spots felt very private and like any other camping. We just were passing through for one night with a last minute reservation. Happy with our experience.

Our stay in the little town of Shirley was good. Navit was quick to communicate with us leading up to our arrival and was at the front gate to meet us. The campsite itself is situated further back from the house and acreage. It is very private and has a wilderness feel to it. Electricity is not available, but Navit said that we could get water closer to the house. We opted to fill up and as well use the sani dump at French Beach Provincial Park about 10 minutes' drive down the road. Navit did warn us about bears, and it wasn't long after we arrived that we spotted one not far from our site. It left as quickly as it appeared and we didn't see another after that. We stayed three nights. The location is perfect for visiting the surrounding beaches and Port Renfrew. Thanks Navit for sharing your lovely property with us! Helen and Scott.

Great community-minded hosts!
Nice place, cool hosts. Private, well kept, great place (near Shirley cafe and French Beach). Fresh eggs from the farm, and wood fired pizza just down the road, what more could you ask for?

Love the area, so close to French’s beach!! The sunset at our campsite was beautiful . The pond was also full of croaking frogs, love this sound . The campsite is not well shaded so do bring something for shade . Navit greeted us and made us feel very at home . Would definitely go back !!

Navit is a great host. Our family had a great time. The campsites are private and true to the rustic west coast vibes. It was awesome to see the geese and their babies around the beautiful pond. The kids loved setting up a hammock at the top of ‘fairy’ hill. Navit gave us a little tour of their new farm, kids loved it! This is a fun and interesting place to visit. We definitely recommend staying here if you get a chance. And Shirley Delicious Cafe lives up to its name! Such a great deal for a beautiful part of the island!

Fun west Coast experience.
I booked the site for some of my family. It was a great way to visit in our socially distanced way. They had lots of fun walking through the trees and around the pond. They had a nice fire too.
So glad I opened up this area for campers!
