This was my 3rd time staying here and it’s better every time! Seriously beautiful views on the river. The people are super nice. Amber is helpful and ready for any questions you have.
It was a great, peaceful stay along the river. After the rain, we had the whole camp to ourselves! Songbirds and tree frogs during the day, and owls hooting at night. Road to the campsite was a bit rough, but we made it in just a little honda civic. Will definitely try to visit again!
I typically don't stay at campgrounds but CGMC was just excellent. It's a good hybrid... if you're a typical dispersed/primitive camper like me pick your spots and go mid-week (my visit September) and you might have the place to yourself. For the "average camper" there are amenities (shower toilet) but thankfully located uphill so as not to disturb the natural beauty.
You have around ten sites along 100 yards or so overlooking a beautiful sweep of the river. Only one site (1) has a picnic table so you'll need to arrange something. All sites have fire rings. Paths to the river are located at the ends of the campground. Site 1 was hammock friendly.
There are no structures visible, just 100% nature. No road noise at all. I did hear a few dogs bark in the distance but that was about it. Saw deer, turkey, heard coyotes in the distance, and watched a bald eagle snag a fish.
100% excellent stay and I'll be coming back for Fall/Winter camping.
Camping by the river
This is probably one of the most amazing experinces we have had camping so far. We love nature and this my friend is definitely as nature as it gets. We have had the pleasure of renting 3 campsites so far and each one was by the river towards the bottom of the hill which is just you, nature, and the river. Up towards the top of the hill has a hot shower, toilet, and the cabin/RV area. The staff there is very friendly and so helpful, they make you feel right at home like you belong there. If your looking for a great place and a wonderful time with your family and friends then I highly recommended this campsite. We will definitely be back, this is our new home away from home.
Clean, large campsites along river
Clayton Geneva Memorial Campground was truly a diamond in the rough. Nestled along the Columbia River, the Campground was very clean and well kept. I only stayed one night, but I took a good look for possibilities in the future. Sites are large and very clean. Near the house, there's a bathroom and vending machines. The rustic appearance of the outside of the bathroom can be fooling because the inside is very clean and modern. Equipped with a full stand up shower, and clean, flushing toilet, Clayton Geneva is a great home away from home with all the amenities. Thanks for a great stay and wonderful night's sleep.
Peaceful, enjoyable and relaxing
This was my third reservation with them, the first ended after one night because I broke my foot. The second had to be completely cancelled and this one had to be changed. They were kind, helpful and understanding with my cancellation and date changes. We FINALLY made it and spent four great days by the Cumberland River. It is a primitive campsite, which is exactly what I wanted! It is an awesome place to camp a day or a week.
It was a delightful stop!
The campground was very easy to find, thanks to the host’s communication. There are many nice camping spots right next to the river which gives a beautiful sound to fall asleep and wake up to!
