Drive right on by, don't bother to
We didn't even stay the night. It was somebodies back yard that was knee high in weeds. The "office" was their home and you couldn't get to the door because of the trash and the unfriendly dog. There was nothing appealing about this place at all!
We didn’t expect much and we were completely satisfied. Dancing Bears CG is a bit of a work in progress, with the landscaping somewhat unfinished. But, the infrastructure all worked as it should, so the full hookup allowed us to explore the area and return to AC and showers. We had plenty of privacy and social distancing was not a problem.
The surrounding area and town offers plenty to do and see, though a bit of a drive if you want to get into Yellowstone or Teton National Parks. Check out the local pizza place for a good pizza and a great huckleberry milkshake!
All in all, a great value for the price. If you just need a secure place to set up camp while you explore this will do. We would come back.
Worked for what we needed
This place was great for what we needed. We basically just slept there but it served the purpose. The hookups worked great. Unfortunately in the spot we were in there was no WiFi but we had service so we used our phones. The spots weren’t numbered which would have been difficult if we weren’t the only people there. We never went into the building or met the host. The I’m down side is it looks very junkyard vibes… if you need a place to just crash that’s central to most things like Jackson and Yellowstone then I would say go for it.
It is between Highway and train tracks, neither bothered us. We didn’t use the shower facilities, used our camper. Host was nice.
My only complaint is that it could be mowed and trimmed.
The space was large, not crowded which i like. Admittedly it was modest in appearance and close to Rt 20 so there was some road noise, but not terrible. The 30 amp power was reliable, water was good, sewer too, and all located exactly where they should be for convenient hook up to my travel trailer. The space was nice a level, and could have used a good mowing but honestly i slept there only, I was gone from daylight to dark every day enjoying Yellowstone and the other things the area has to offer, so it didn't really matter. My main concerns of adequate space, and good functionality of hook ups were fully satisfied. And since i was close to the highway, had great phone and internet services as well
Great location b/w national parks!
John's property is in a great location right in between Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park. He was very helpful and he's making improvements to his property. My RV had restroom, so I didn't use his Restroom or shower. His property is right off a major highway, so of course you're going to hear traffic. Other than that, quiet campground. We stayed a week and only saw 4 other people come and go. I will stay here again. If you are tent camping here, I recommend Ear Plugs for the highway noise.
Scary ,rundown and primitive
we arrived and no one was there to greet us. site was unkept ,and frankly a little scary. random people off to the back of property not sure what they were doing, didn't want to know. We were two older ladies with 3 grandkids, made sure we were locked and loaded before we went to sleep. Completely run down house on site. Site picture is not where we were, no upkeep of preperty.
Booked this spot because we had a hard time finding sites west of Yellowstone at a reasonable price. Full hookups for $30 is quite reasonable. Location is between the highway and a railroad track; however, we never heard a train and the AC drowned out most of the traffic. Unfortunately, the area was kind of junky, with abandoned vehicles and furniture.
The sites were extremely unlevel and even using all our blocks we couldn't get straight by the sewer, so we had to move to dump. Also, the site was covered in thistles and stinging nettles. We never saw or heard from any staff the whole time there. No amenities, so I do not suggest staying here for more than 1 night, and only if you are looking for something in the area that is a cheap in and out.
