Small-town charm still lives in Fitzgerald, GA – a quirky town with wild chickens. The tree lined streets of the historic district feature median parks and beautiful homes of the early 1900’s. On Main Street, string lights illuminate the downtown and the neon lights of the historic Art Deco Grand Theatre are aglow! There you can enjoy first-run digital movies year-round, in addition to music concerts and live theater. The parks in front of the theatre on Main Street are the location for events throughout the year. You can further immerse yourself in art at the beautifully restored Carnegie Center, where you can view exhibits or create your own works of art. The historic district is filled with eclectic architectural styles, materials, and ornamentation not seen elsewhere thanks to its diverse settlers. Locally owned shops will treat you to southern hospitality and eateries will delight you with delicious regional and international cuisine. Walk the town’s brick streets as you shop and sightsee, enjoy the murals or embark on an architectural tour. You are likely to see wild chickens along the way. Visit the website to find out why chickens are running wild in Fitzgerald and why world-renowned living-sculpture artist, Topiary Joe, is in the process of building the world’s largest chicken topiary there. Check out our community calendar to see what event might be happening during your visit. Get outside and explore: bike, kayak, boat, fish, camp, bird watch.

It was a peaceful place with a small lake. Small town with very few restaurants. Great for 1 or 2 nights.

It was a breeze to park. Everything was clean. Enjoyed a nice campfire and watching the geese on the pond. It is well maintained and I would camp there again.

What is great about Paulk Park it is so quiet and peaceful. The pads are all grass but are well maintained. There is some slope which could make some larger rigs harder to level. The only drawback is the same as last time we camped here is the city fails to pick up trash and the cans were full. Also, for campers new to the park there is no indications of which way to pull into sites. There were several campers parked in the wrong direction. If you like small southern towns, Fitzgerald is a great place to visit.
