Completely enjoyed staying at Camp Catfish. The sites are spacious and quiet. The host, Nick, was super friendly in communicating ahead of time, and again when we ran into him out at the river. It’s a little bit of a walk from camp to the river so a cart was definitely helpful for the kayak, otherwise there are public launches within short drives. Had a great time fossil hunting the water and plan to visit Camp Catfish again.

Thanks for quick response late evening while TeslaTim was traveling. This was an excellent Hipcamp experience for me as a grateful traveler. Upon booking the host message directions were simple and easy to follow. Signage when I arrived was simple and through the gulch and straight I found ample camping spots and a few other travelers camped.

Campsite was great, clean. We arrived after a rain and the dirt road was a pothole mud pit. I was fine since I have a truck with 4 wheel drive. A regular car I don't think would have made it. The walk to the river is on clearly marked trail. The trail goes through some water that was about 2 inches deep. I suppose it could be dry if it hadn't rained, but bring sandals to walk through that. We like primitive camping. This site is definitely that. However if someone was at the site next to us, then we would have heard them for sure. The two sets of campsites are far enough apart though that as long as there is no one right next to you, you would still feel primitive. They are cleared out well with a fire ring at each. The fire rings are small, but I actually liked it better than I thought I would. You can easily pull your truck right up next to each site. Bugs were not bad at all. Very few mosquitos or flies when we were there. It could have also been the time of year. If you like scavenging for firewood, there is plenty as long as you walk around to look for it.

Great secluded spot for primitive camping! Had an amazing view of the night sky and choice of camping spots whether underneath the canopy of a tree or out in the middle of a clearing. Caution: you don’t need 4x4 but a car with enough clearance to make it down the dirt road
