Easy, quiet, beautiful
I enjoyed chatting with Troy. The forest around is beautiful. Lots of birds flying around. Rooster crowing kinda soothing. No bugs when I was there. A BnB camp, because Troy brought fresh eggs over. Delicious!
I used the site for tent camping and found it suited my needs perfectly for an evening kayak trip to view the luminescent plankton phenomenon in nearby Mosquito Lagoon. The hosts were delightful and insured that I was taken care of. It was clean and well groomed. The location was easy to get to right off hwy 1.
The campsite was cute, cozy, and well kept. The hosts responded quickly, were accommodating, and made sure we had everything we needed. They brought us fresh eggs, and the kids were even able to hold a chicken. The rain caused standing water in the yard, i.e. mosquitoes and no-see-ums. OFF Family Care didn’t do a thing! The kids were covered in bites, and we were bit through our shirts. Bring at least 30% DEET and a citronella candle, and you should be good to go. The toilet was actually very pleasant— no odor at all. The chickens weren’t loud enough to wake us, but the train does come through several times a night. The crickets and frogs are loud enough to drown out most traffic noises. I would suggest a battery powered fan for white noise and/or earplugs. The neighbors like their power tools and their music into the night, and fellow campers are so close that you can hear them tossing and turning in their sleep. There is a canal adjacent to the property, and we could hear alligators bellowing. Overall, the property was beautiful and the hosts were good people— just don’t forget bug spray and some type of noise reduction.
The property is nestled in an arc of palms, giving it a very private feel. There is an outhouse, which was welcome as we did not expect a bathroom. The sites are well-equipped with fire pits and picnic tables. We even found a spot to hammock and our hosts gave us fresh eggs. Top-notch spot!
Loved this gem of a site. Troy was great throughout the booking and the trip - we had to make several changes due to a storm passing through the area and he was very understanding and flexible. The site is small, no frills, perfect for adventures at the Cape, Daytona, NSB and beyond. We unfortunately could not enjoy the fire pit due to weather, but plan to on our next trip! Super bonus: Troy shared some eggs from his farm, which were delicious. And he had a very functional and useful weatherproof packet with all the information we needed. We’ll be back!
Great campsite for ksc launches
This is a great, cost effective place to camp if you're going to see a launch at Cape Canaveral. My group stayed here to see the Spacex Demo-2 manned launch and this campsite was a very short drive away from the Titusville / Cape Canaveral area.
Overall the campsite was extremely nice. The privy is much nicer than you're probably imagining (it was very clean and did not smell at all). The campground was nice and flat (great for our tents). The picnic table, fire pit, and Adirondack chairs were all good quality.
There are two things to be aware of: The property has roosters, which were quite loud between 5 AM and 6 AM while we were there. They woke us up the first morning, but we found that we got more used to them over time. The second thing is that the two campsites are *extremely* close to each other. If you're not booking both sites then be prepared to get up close and personal with the campers in the other site. Thankfully the people in the campsite next to us were nice and pretty quiet, however their dog did run under our tent's rain fly in the middle of the first night we were there.
Overall, I recommend Camp Shiloh if you need a place to stay in the New Smyrna / Cape Canaveral / Titusville area.
This is a great place to spend a couple days and the hosts are amazing. The fire ring, 2 chairs, string lights, and picnic table are exactly what you need. The privy is just like a mini version of one you’d find on the Appalachian trail. Due to the location there’s no fresh water but it was easy to bring it with us.
Staying at Camp Shiloh was a dream! We were looking for a weekend getaway and this was the place. The upkeep of the property is exceptional, beautiful trees all around and the ground was perfectly flat for a tent. It was camping made comfortable. Troy and his wife went out of their way to make our stay special. He brought us a binder of information on the area and fresh eggs from the chickens on the property. A cute tree in the middle of the campground shows all of the places Hipcampers have visited the site from and twinkly lights surround the campground at night. Picnic tables, lawn chairs, fire pits and firewood made for a great night out under a sky full of stars. About a 30 minute drive from Kennedy Space Center and 15 minutes from New Smyrna Beach.
