The best description I can give of our property is that it's great for a convenient and quaint "Stop and Sleep". This is because we are located right off of the old main highway and have two neighbors within eyesight from the house. This site is very convenient for quick stays since it is so CLOSE TO THE HIGHWAY this makes it convenient but may not be appropriate for very light sleepers or for extended stays. The camping area is simple, with wild grass and a fire pit, bordered by the river on one side and the horse pasture on the other. You can see and hear the river easily April-July. The river is seasonal and does dry up in mid July-August. Drinkable hose water is available near the house. If you want a ranch-style camping experience with lots of interaction with your hosts and opportunity for adventure then you have chosen the right camping location! You are welcome to join in the daily choring activities or choose to be taken on a scenic trail ride or thrilling guided gallop on beautiful and well-trained rescue horses.PLEASE NOTE: The bathroom is located in our house and has a flushable toilet and shower with hot water. Bathroom hours are 8am-9pm. Parking is located a few hundred feet from the campsite, just off of the road. You must walk a few hundred feet to get to the campsite and you cannot pull your vehicle right up to it. While we do welcome car campers and pop-up trailers, just know you won't be parked at the campsite if you choose to sleep this way. We look forward to having you camp with us!

We have ten acres that our home sit on but about 9 acres and consist of dry farm grass. We use 1 acre for camping and parking. The Weber river runs across the back of our property where we have a campground with communal tables and firepit. We have added a wooden porta potty enclosed in a small tent which we service every day or as needed. We do have some firewood available occasionally but you should bring your own. We do not have potable water at our sites but we can and will provide water from our home if you provide your own container. Site selection is determined by type of sleeping accommodations. **We allow 2 adults per site and/or 2 adults and minor children per site. (Exceptions must be approved and additional fees paid) We are not a public campground and only list through Hipcamp and so our property is posted with NO TRESPASSING SIGNS. It is very important to let us know your approximate arrival time so that we can guide you down to the campgrounds and get you the best spot base on your type of camping. (Sleep in vehicle versus tent campers) One draw back to our property is that we are within 1/2 mile of a well use highway (US 84) and railroad track. We have only had one camper who was concerned about the noise. Here at the house we don't notice it and maybe we are just use to it. Limited swimming and use of paddle board base on river conditions. During the winter we occasionally get snowed in and in the spring and early summer we experience high water based on snow melt which makes use of the river extremely dangerous. Limited fishing is based on water levels with fly fishing being the best however you can use lures . We would prefer catch and release because the river is not stocked by the Utah fish and game. So, we are dependent on normal reproduction of the fish. ALL UTAH FISHING REGULATION APPLY. WE HAVE INDICATED WHEEL CHAIR ACCESSIBLE. THE WHOLE AREA IS BASICLLY LEVEL AND GRASS AND BARK COVERED.

No neighbors (unless you count the occasional cattle or sheep as it is open range). Starry skies, red cliffs, sage seas, junipers, howling coyotes: the Wild West at its best. Pull in your RV or pitch a tent. Lots to see and do in the area. The Piedmont ghost town and kilns are 15 minutes away. The majestic Uinta mountains are 30 minutes to the southeast on the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway. Check out the local bison herd (including its famous white bison) at Bear River State Park in Evanston. Box Elder Creek is a 5 minute walk into Box Elder Campground, the poppy hill (2 weeks in June), and wonderful hiking opportunities. Learn more about this land: This tent site is right in a little scrub oak forest, nestled in the foothills below Snowbasin. Beautiful views of Morgan Valley, Snowbasin Ski resort, and a gateway to fun. We are semi-rural, so expect wild turkeys randomly visiting, along with our neighbor's chickens, and a rooster crowing. Maybe even a deer or moose, if lucky. A starry sky, because we don't have much light pollution. The site itself is tucked behind a hill, perfect for privacy, and is surrounded by scrub oak trees. Campers are welcome to use the fire pit area chairs and our portable propane fire place.There are some plug in bistro lights for camping ambiance and a power strip. There is drinkable water at the faucet by our front porch. Cooking with a propane camp stove is ok. There is a screened compost toilet, power strip for charging needs, and a picnic table at each site, Because of Utah's extreme drought, no smoking is permitted. Generally no dogs except service, but perhaps negotiable. The sites are a short walk down a trail, so not wheelchair accessible. The parking spot is level, & could work for a rooftop tent or camper van, but it is in partial view of my neighbor's house, which the camp sites are not. Things to do: You can hike right from the site to Strawberry Creek (about 3 mile trail) 10 minutes from Snowbasin (skiing, hiking, mountain biking) 15 minutes from Morgan ( ATV rentals, Horseback riding, burgers and bars) 15 minutes from Ogden ( you would never notice) 15 minutes from tubing the Weber river 20 minutes from Boating or swimming at Pineview in Eden, or in East Canyon

Retro Star Ranch

Retro Star Ranch is big and secluded. Aside from a few trailers that dot the hills in the distance you are pretty much on your own. We have 25 acres of land at the end of a private road in a secret hidden valley not far from SLC, Ogden and Eden Utah. This land is pristine and connected to over 5000 acres of undeveloped open space. The property is part of a recreational property subdivision. You might see some fellow campers on quads, occasionally you might hear gunfire, but you're more likely to see deer, fox, grouse, birds of prey, moose and possibly elk. Not far from Causey Reservoir and the South Fork of the Ogden River both of which have great water for floating and fishing. You could easily get here in a sedan when dry but not recommended for sports or low clearance vehicles. If you have 4x4 that is better, especially if you want to venture to our last campsite or pull a trailer here. We've pulled a 30' foot trailer but the road is skinny in places and the turns are tight, bumpy from cobbles and ruts and often have puddles. There is about 2 miles of that climbs over a ridge. If you're adventurous and a confident driver on dirt roads you will have no problem. If it's you're first time pulling a trailer or if you have a low clearance then this might not be the spot for you. However, if you're looking for something peaceful and secluded that is not that far from town, this is it. We can also accommodate larger groups or multiple vehicles if desired. Please contact us with any special requests or questions. The Knoll site is better for trailers and larger groups. It has a loop through driveway and can accommodate a few trailers. Please be aware that this is wilderness camping and there are wild animals throughout the woods. It is best to stay on trail or at the site and be alert for snakes, big cats, moose and deer.

In the spring when the creek is full, it is a fun place for kids to play (it dries up in July usually). There is lots of open space. We have a trampoline and swing and fire pit we can share (fire pit for spring and early summer only). Its very peaceful out here. There are tons of flat roads to ride bikes safely on. It's 30 mins from Bear Lake, 20 Minutes from Monte Cristo. There is fishing nearby and a park around the corner. 30 amp electrical hookup and water as well. We have kids who love to make you feel welcome and play with your kids too.

The majestic Uinta mountains are 30 minutes to the southeast on the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway. Check out the local bison herd (including its famous white bison) at Bear River State Park in Evanston. While there, walk around the Historic Depot Area and the Union Pacific Roundhouse and Railyards further to the west. The downtown stretch along Main St. is step back in time and the site of our local brewery (Suds). Up the road on I-80 is historic Fort Bridger. Fishing available at local reservoirs and Bear River.

Learn more about this land: This tent site is right in a little scrub oak forest, nestled in the foothills below Snowbasin. Beautiful views of Morgan Valley, Snowbasin Ski resort, and a gateway to fun. We are semi-rural, so expect wild turkeys randomly visiting, along with our neighbor's chickens, and a rooster crowing. Maybe even a deer or moose, if lucky. A starry sky, because we don't have much light pollution. The site itself is tucked behind a hill, perfect for privacy, and is surrounded by scrub oak trees. Campers are welcome to use the fire pit area chairs and our portable propane fire place.There are some plug in bistro lights for camping ambiance and a power strip. There is drinkable water at the faucet by our front porch. Cooking with a propane camp stove is ok. There is a screened compost toilet, power strip for charging needs, and a picnic table at each site, Because of Utah's extreme drought, no smoking is permitted. Generally no dogs except service, but perhaps negotiable. The sites are a short walk down a trail, so not wheelchair accessible. The parking spot is level, & could work for a rooftop tent or camper van, but it is in partial view of my neighbor's house, which the camp sites are not. Things to do: You can hike right from the site to Strawberry Creek (about 3 mile trail) 10 minutes from Snowbasin (skiing, hiking, mountain biking) 15 minutes from Morgan ( ATV rentals, Horseback riding, burgers and bars) 15 minutes from Ogden ( you would never notice) 15 minutes from tubing the Weber river 20 minutes from Boating or swimming at Pineview in Eden, or in East Canyon

The best description I can give of our property is that it's great for a convenient and quaint "Stop and Sleep". This is because we are located right off of the old main highway and have two neighbors within eyesight from the house. This site is very convenient for quick stays since it is so CLOSE TO THE HIGHWAY this makes it convenient but may not be appropriate for very light sleepers or for extended stays. The camping area is simple, with wild grass and a fire pit, bordered by the river on one side and the horse pasture on the other. You can see and hear the river easily April-July. The river is seasonal and does dry up in mid July-August. Drinkable hose water is available near the house. If you want a ranch-style camping experience with lots of interaction with your hosts and opportunity for adventure then you have chosen the right camping location! You are welcome to join in the daily choring activities or choose to be taken on a scenic trail ride or thrilling guided gallop on beautiful and well-trained rescue horses.PLEASE NOTE: The bathroom is located in our house and has a flushable toilet and shower with hot water. Bathroom hours are 8am-9pm. Parking is located a few hundred feet from the campsite, just off of the road. You must walk a few hundred feet to get to the campsite and you cannot pull your vehicle right up to it. While we do welcome car campers and pop-up trailers, just know you won't be parked at the campsite if you choose to sleep this way. We look forward to having you camp with us!

Overview

Named after the longest river in the US that doesn’t flow into an ocean, the small town of Bear River sits along the banks of that same river in southwest Wyoming, just a stone’s throw from the Utah border. Not surprisingly, fishing is a big draw at Bear River, though you can find plenty of other water- and land-based outdoor recreation opportunities in the nearby mountains, lakes and reservoirs, state parks, and national forests. Campers can set up their tent or RV besides the water or under a canopy of trees, or opt for more luxurious cottage and yurt options.

Bear River Vicinity

Head north of Bear River to the Woodruff Narrows Public Access area to enjoy boating, fishing, hunting, hiking, and wildlife viewing, with walk-in, drive-in, and boat-in dispersed camping at the north end of the reservoir. Along the Lincoln Highway, look for elk and bison at Bear River State Park, paddle the Bear River Greenway, explore railroad history in Evanston and military history at Fort Bridger Historic Site, and overnight at an RV park in Evanston, Fort Bridger, and Lyman.

Bear Lake State Parks

Known as the Caribbean of the Rockies due to its turquoise waters, Bear Lake straddles the border of Utah and Idaho. After a day of swimming, boating, scuba diving, water sports, or fishing, you have a choice of several seasonal developed campgrounds at Bear Lake State Park in Utah and Bear Lake State Park in Idaho for lakeside camping. In the winter, enjoy snowshoeing, snowmobiling, or go ice fishing for the Bonneville cisco, found only in Bear Lake.

Mirror Lake Scenic Byway and the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest

Stretching for 42 miles between Evanston and Kamas, the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway passes through the High Uintas Mountains and the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, Several developed campgrounds along the route make it easy to spend the night and take advantage of numerous scenic viewpoints and lakes, including Mirror Lake, as well as opportunities to hike, mountain bike, paddle, fish, cross-country ski, and ride your ATV and snowmobile.

When to go

Campers can enjoy outdoor recreation year-round near Bear River, though most campgrounds are seasonal and close over the winter. Fishing season runs from March to May and July to November, with ice fishing in the winter. Summer is a great time to enjoy the lakes and reservoirs nearby. Horse racing is held at nearby Wyoming Downs on summer weekends. The Mountain Man Rendezvous is held on Labor Day weekend at Fort Bridger Historic Site.
