Pony Pines Farm
Camping with animals :)
My friends and I had such a great time camping here but it could deff use some work. We arrived midday and there was no one outside to great us. We weren't sure where to go so we just hung out with the animals while I texted Denise. The animals were so cute and friendly - there were 6 senior dogs, pigs, ponies, goats and donkeys. The donkeys were extra friendly so naturally they were our favorite. There was no way to tell where the campsites were so we had to wait. After a while someone came out of the house (not Denise) and we could tell they were surprised, but still friendly. One extra friendly dog named Bluebell actually lead us to the campsites and hung out with us for the rest of the night. It was very sweet and since we are all dog owners we loved it. The sites were overgrown with grass and there was some poison ivy along the edges of the campsites. The owner had told us that we were the first campers of the season ( as we were leaving someone drove by on a lawn mower and cleared the area) . The campsites included a picnic table with cabinet, a nice fire pit with grill and 2 adirondack chairs. There was also a permanent tent set up on a platform but it was not in great shape and the owner had told us prior to bring our own tent- no problem, we are all experienced campers with equipment, just wished that the listing gave more details. There was also a shared platform to view the stars at night and the area was lovely. Overall a good experience and we'd visit again.

Pony Pines Farm
I have stayed at several Hipcamp sites, all of which were super nice experiences. Not so much with this place. I probably should have noticed the mixed reviews on Hipcamp before reserving a stay, but there were limited options.
I arrived rather late the first night due to some delays. Got to the site around 945pm. The listing said that there were signs to the campsites, but there were none to be found. We tried to find our way, but ended up in a field at night, with a dog barking at a farmhouse.
No lights came on, nobody came to help. I just felt unwelcome.
We almost left, but we would have lost our money, so I texted the owner, who responded that she didn't know we would going to arrive that late. I said that there weren't any signs to find my way to the site.
She said she would send "Steve".
A few minutes later, I heard an ATV start up in the house with the barking dog, and it came over in the dark. He was really grumpy and unpleasant. I asked him where the signs were. He said it took them down at night.
I followed him back toward the sites, and he pointed in the direction and took off. There weren't any signs back in the woods either. The trails were overgrown, and we couldn't see where to go. We just dropped our stuff on a trail and set up our tents.
The next morning Steve told me that it was a working farm, and that we shouldn't have arrived so late. I told him that this should be in the listing. It felt tense and unpleasant for the remainder of our stay.

Pony Pines Farm
Denise and Valerie were so kind and helpful. They even helped us find the perfect spot, cut the area and brought us wood. Denise was prompt in her responses. The property was easy to find but felt secluded. I will be back. Thank you all.
