Recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp is great for families and kids.
Enjoying 8 acres of the simpler life with Renee and our children, 15 minutes north of Harrisonburg, Virginia. We love animals, planting gardens, preserving quality food, and hiking and camping in both of the world-famous national parks here. We are third year hosts, and immensely gratified to share all we can from this amazing Shenandoah Valley. For many adventure seekers, we have been a gateway to nearby attractions, while many of our guests come here specifically to enjoy a humble get-away in the woods with electricity, great Wi-Fi and a hot shower. There are several petting zoos near us, in case you want a little close-up exposure to some cute farm animals. We are located 45 minutes from the Shenandoah National Park. Nathan is an avid hiker and familiar with so many fun outdoor attractions in the area. Please reach out to us, should you need any help planning your trip. Consider these amazing hikes: Trayfoot Mountain to Blackrock Summit from Port Republic Rd Elliot Knob and High Knob fire towers Fridley's gap swimming hole & overlook. Meems Covered Bridge in Mt. Jackson Wildflower Trail (see a long lost, 500-pound millstone) Blue Ridge Tunnel Hone Quarry falls Reddish Knob Emerald Pond Yellow Rock Cliff and Storybook Trail (Great overlooks!!) Please ask about scheduled group hikes as well, we would love to help you have a good time.

Yellow Cliffs Mountain
Yellow Cliff (travelers meadow)
Yellow Cliff is actually a decent spot on the farm. It's in a great location not far from the shower and bathroom. Its darker then the the last spot we were in because it's shaded by trees and I got to experience the sound of an owl at night time. It was very pleasant while sitting by the fire cooking dinner.

Crabtree Falls
Almost amazing
The only real issue we had with the stay was the only other people there. At first they were in the upper part. So we had plenty of space. But they came in and out well all night. In a car with no muffler past our rig and up a big hill… finally ended at around 2 am. Then they moved to the rv directly across from us. Where they then not only came and went with the load car at late hours. But would also come outside to smoke and argue loudly. Slamming doors and yelling. This finally ended around 3 am… for a couple days things were great. Then our final night there… loud car up the hill at 1 am. Not very restful the night before we have to pack up and haul the rv 300 miles. I’m not usually the one to complain. But I need them to know our experience. If that hadn’t happened… the place was pretty great. It’s not a resort. But well worth the money.

Melrose Cavern
Travelers meadow
It's really pretty and peaceful out there. Id defenetely stay again. The outdoor experience was exactly what I needed. He has wood you can look for to burn on the fire pits or buy. And this night I sat by a nice cozy fire before turning into my tent and having the best night's sleep. Woke up the next morning feeling very calm and relaxed.

Strickler Knob
Camping at travelers meadow
They were really nice and very helpful. The snow was drying so he upgraded us to the RV for 2 nights and we paid a little extra but it was very worth the stay.
