Stone Hill is set in the quiet town Stuart Mill - a hamlet in northwestern Victoria, Australia. A historic gold mining area in the 1860’s, named after the British philosopher John Stuart Mill, it is located in the Shire of Northern Grampians and on the Sunraysia Highway, northwest of Melbourne. Now, it is mainly livestock properties and canola fields. The seasonal creek that runs through this 53-acre of rural escape, with Stuart Mill Bushland Reserve & Kara Kara National Park running alongside the property, make it an ideal place to experience the forests of Central Victoria with plenty of exploration options. Just over the border of the Pyrenees set under the Northern Grampians big skies, the undulating foothills and rugged ridges of Victoria’s west are perfect for touring and winemaking. You will discover wines as unique and inspired as the landscape that created them. Food & fuel supplies are easily accessible at Avoca or St Arnaud. Campfires are permitted in the provided firepits (within local regulations) and there is firewood available on site which is in addition to your camping fee. We don't have toilets on site, so you'll need to be self-contained. There is also a public toilet behind the community hall (about 250m from the property boundary). There are no showers. We offer two separate, large camping areas, both very private from one another. Please refer to each listing details as to which site will suit you best. Stone Hill is the perfect location to set up camp while you experience the native fauna and flora, hike, explore the region or just simply unplug and reconnect with nature. This site offers access to fresh water from the rain tank.  Campfires are permitted in the provided bluestone firepit (within local regulations) and there is firewood available on site (strictly not to be taken off the property). There is a 12-seater table under a rustic pergola just next to the fire pit. The site is bordered by trees, with plenty of space to spread out. It's dominated by three red shipping containers that are in a u-shape. We recommend setting up your swags in the u-section, as the surrounding land is quite rocky, but here it is softer.  There are no toilets on site, you'll need to be self-contained. There are also public toilets behind the community hall, about 250m from the property boundary. Stone Hill Site
Stone hill site was great, elevated so you get some good views and a nice spot for sunsets. The wind can get a bit strong up one side of the hill but the shipping containers provide a great area to set up tents to avoid this. Plenty of room at the site, and the gazebo and picnic table makes setting up camp a breeze. Would definitely reccomend this site to others.

Great stargazing and sky views!
Great dark southern/south eastern sky for stargazing. Nice spot perched atop a hill above the township. No toilet onsite but a public toilet an easy 500m walk up the road. Nicely set up with covered picnic table and nice big fire place. The ground is pretty hard and rocky so a bit difficult for pegging swags etc but that’s to be expected in this area. Would recommend if you’re looking for a quiet place to chill out and take in some stargazing by the fire.

Stone Hill 🙂
Stone Hill was an ace place to camp - beaut views from the top and a great fire pit. The wooden table under the permanent shelter was great, didn’t have to put up a gazebo or our camp tables. Toilets were a few hundred metres down the road which was good. Will def visit again! Thanks Chris!

Under the stars with the cockatoos
Gorgeous view immersed amongst the cockatoos and not another human in sight. The stars were breathtaking! Just bear in mind the land is extremely rocky so it is aost impossible to pitch a tent and there is very little shade
