... Hi there and welcome to our home, Penzance! We fell in love with our slice of heaven in 2010 and adore every back breaking inch of it. It was an over grown mess at the time, covered in broken bricks and beer cans. We've tried to keep the bush aspect while creating a park like surround with plenty of grassy space. We have big plans for our land and hope to build a steam museum in our other area over the creek. Excitingly, we will also be establishing a blacksmiths forge in that area, which was moved piece by piece from an historic farm at Avoca. Chris is an engineer, antique restorer and artisan working from home. I am an actor and artist working in metal, clay and paint. I'm inspired by my flower garden and the bush that frames it. We offer one site so privacy is assured. Larger groups can be accommodated, please enquire if you'd like to learn more. We look forward to welcoming you to Penzance.Located close to Ballarat and nestled among the beautiful gumtrees of our peaceful camping area. We currently only offer one camp site so you will have the area to yourself. You'll wake up to the sounds of the many birds that frequent the area, and perhaps a few frogs and the large dam is home to many waterbirds and our goose, Lucy. The creek runs for part of the year, and provides a great habitat for many creatures and the billabong is a pretty spot. Kangaroos, possums and echidnas are a common sight. We have built a lovely powder room, but campers must be self sufficient with their own shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Ride your bikes, kick the footy, go for a hike, or just relax in nature. You are welcome to enjoy a campfire in the fire pit provided, when there are no restrictions in place. There are plenty branches and twigs on the ground to get your fire started, so don't forget the marshmallows! Pets are welcome but please keep them restrained whilst on the property to protect our wildlife. Kids under 5 stay for free!

Penzance Bushland Retreat
Loved camping here. Lots of space. Peaceful and sheltered from wind. Great facilities, and awesome hosts. The camp fire pit was a real draw card. And an amazing bush bathroom, must be the best one in Oz!

Penzance Bushland Retreat
We absolutely loved staying on the Penzance Bushland Retreat. It is the perfect set up with a great fire pit, a really unique powder room with toilet and tank water, plenty of even ground for tents, a lot of shade under the trees if required, heaps of space around the camp area, and a lot of pieces of history, like old farming equipment, distributed over the property. It is very peaceful and quiet and for us it was the perfect Easter long weekend retreat. It feels like being far away from everything, but Ballarat is just 20 minutes away and there is a lot to see in the area (waterfalls, that were dry when we visited, Mount Buninyong with excellent views from the tower, etc.)

Penzance Bushland Retreat
The best Hipcamp we ever stayed! Lovely wide clean area, a fire pit/bbq/bush stove cleverly constructed made our camping cooking so easy and enjoyable. And... A five star federation toillet hidden in the bush, was a highlight. Thank you and well done Lesley and Chris, we'll highly recommend your camp. Five stars ✨

Perfect spot
What a beatiful spot. The campfire was prepared. There was a nice toilet room we have not seen before. An quiet the birds woke you up with singing. And for us as people from the Netherlands we loved to have the kangaroos near by.

Penzance is a stunning spot. Exceptional amenities, top-notch fire pit, private camping area, lots of areas and old treasures to explore. Lesley was very helpful leading up to our weekend and we were left alone to enjoy ourselves. We'll be back.

Bucket List Campground !
What a Beautiful Spot, very private and welcoming. Good amount of shade and a good amount of sunlight for your solar panels. The Toilet Facility is by far the best i have seen. Lesley and Chris are the Perfect Host's. The Firepit is also a stand out as are the benches and seating , This will go straight into my Bucket List of campsites in Victoria, Its only one site so if your lucky to get it booked you'll know exactly what i mean , its truly a magical place, if you need to go into town which is only 20 min away , turn left when you exit the driveway. the ground is relatively flat so you shouldn't have any issues with your camper or tent.
