The best camping near Piute State Park guide

Overview

About

Nestled amid the cliffs of the Sevier Plateau, Piute State Park is a hidden gem where tranquility meets adventure. Here, anglers can revel in trophy fishing for rainbow, cutthroat, and brown trout, as well as smallmouth bass. The park's primitive charm is perfect for those seeking a quiet getaway, with the added thrill of ATV trails accessible from the park's grounds.

When to go

The best time to visit Piute State Park is during the warmer months when the reservoir's waters invite boaters and anglers to indulge in their passions. Winter can be harsh, with ice conditions that are thin and dangerous, making it less ideal for visits.

Know before you go

  • Check the current water temperature and ice conditions before planning water activities.
  • Park hours allow for 24-hour access, year-round, offering flexible visitation.
  • Be aware that the park has primitive facilities, ensuring a more rugged experience.
  • For safety, always inform someone of your plans when exploring remote areas of the park.
  • Remember to pack out all trash to maintain the park's natural beauty.
