Isla Mas Afuera

3 sites · RVs, Tents4 acres · Murrells Inlet, SC
3.5 acres lot, with plenty of buffer from the few neighbors in immediate vicinity, but so close to everything the inlet area has to offer. Beaches, tidal inlet with boat ramps, Waccamaw River with boat ramps, restaurants, shops, bars, State Parks, nature preserves, fun attractions and much, much more, all just moments away. I live here in a double wide by myself, two outdoor cats. Deer, fox, hawks and the like are common visitors. This is brand new to me, lots of improvements to be made in future to make a guests stay even better, so for right now it’s bare bones. Can accommodate tents or certain campers. No pump out, no electricity or running water for “sites” yet, if ever, but running water is here and available for free. Additions to come very soon: outdoor shower, available compost toilet available for rent while here, fresh herbs, vegetables, fresh local eggs, firewood, and covered gathering/ cooking area, and much more, I’m really excited. Open to idea’s and options. No fireworks/ gunfire allowed at anytime, no “parties”, but campfires, games, fun always welcome. I’d enjoy meeting guests apon arrival, I do have medical conditions that may prohibit it at times though.

With its warm-water reservoir, this park is a haven for waterskiing enthusiasts, anglers, and those looking to catch crawdads. The park's serene environment also attracts migratory birds, making it a hotspot for birdwatching. For those seeking an overnight adventure, the park provides camping facilities complete with electrical and water hookups, ensuring a comfortable stay under the starlit sky.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book your campsite early, as spots can fill up quickly during peak seasons.
  • Check for cancellations regularly, as plans change and spots may open up.
  • Consider visiting during the weekdays for better availability and a quieter experience.
  • Explore nearby camping options if the park is fully booked, as there may be other great sites in the vicinity.

When to go

The best time to visit Huntington State Park is during the summer months when the weather is warm and the reservoir is perfect for water activities. Winter brings a chill, with ice forming on the reservoir, making it less ideal for camping and boating.

Know before you go

  • Summer hours are from 7am to 10pm, while winter hours are 8am to 5pm, with closures on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • Water levels can affect boating conditions; check current levels before planning your trip.
  • Ice conditions vary; ensure the ice is safe before engaging in winter activities.
  • Algae conditions are monitored; check for clear status to ensure water quality for swimming and fishing.
  • Contact the park at 435-687-2491 for the latest updates on conditions and facilities.
