Meadow Tent Sites Drive-up
Kind of a bummer
I’m bummed to be doing this review as I never like to be negative to someone who is hosting me, however in this case I feel the listing just wasn’t what we expected from the description nor the reviews.. We booked the day before and chose the meadow site as it was the furthest away from the host home and included a picnic table and rock seating by the fire pit. When we arrived we were told that the site has been occupied by the owner’s cattle recently and was therefore very manure-y. We were offered Site 3 near the barns. We would’ve liked to have been told this at booking rather than upon arrival so we could decide if it was still where we wanted to stay. At site 3 there was still quite a bit of manure but more easily avoided than at the meadow. We didn’t realize the site were actually in pastures or wouldn’t have booked them. Our other issue is that (and we know not the owner’s fault but not fun either way) there were ATV or dirt bikers ravaging the woods nearby until 11:15pm. Finally the host’s outdoor pup barked quite a bit of the night therefore we got little sleep. On a positive, Amy responded quickly to any message from us and was friendly.

Unique experience on the farm and worth it the price, but outhouse and sites could use some better maintenance.
Dog (great pyrenees?) onsite was very unfriendly toward our Australian Shepherd and barked most of the night which made for an unpleasant sleep.
I would not recommend staying here with your dog.

Loved camping here! Caleb was very welcoming and answered any questions we had, the land was pretty, and a nice fluffy dog came and said hello to us in the morning. Highly recommended!

best spot in Grundy county
i have stayed here twice and it has quickly became my favored spot to camp when coming to the area. i grew up a couple of hours away and camped all over Grundy county and the surrounding areas over decades. the owners are very friendly and welcoming looking forward to the next time i am brought here.
