Wake up to wildlife, search for stars, and explore the badlands when camping near Soldier Creek.
Known locally as “Crazy Horse Canyon,” Soldier Creek is a remote camping oasis in the Rosebud Sioux Reservation. Rent a heated cabin in town with multiple beds, a full kitchen, and a private bathroom, or snag a tent and RV site equipped with electrical hookups and picnic tables. Days are best spent hunting for ducks, reeling in bass and perch from the Little White River, or dropping in a canoe and paddle upstream. More campgrounds await two hours northwest in Badlands National Park. Modern cabin rentals offer year-round creature comforts like heat, AC, a kitchenette, and a king-size bed, while campsites for tents and big rigs feature amenities like covered picnic tables, electrical hookups, drinking water, flush toilets, and showers. Head to Panorama Point for sweeping views of the unique landscape, or hike the 10-mile Castle Trail to get up close and personal with the geography. Watch for bison and bighorn sheep in the morning, and when night falls, campers can search for constellations in the sky.
