Hanscombe Point Plantation
Amazing campsite
Such an awesome campsite. We loved the animals and it was cool to camp under the stars. Put some large sticks to cover the top of the fire so we had a cooking surface

Very quiet, relaxed and pleasant spot very close to Charleston and city amenities. The donkeys are great hosts and their visit was a joy.

Outside wood was not allowed but was provided by the host for $10 a bundle. Was not told that the whole farm/surrounding area would flood if it rained and almost got stuck because of this.

Not for RVs
Overall we had an ok time at Legare Farms/Hanscombe Point Plantation. My main concerns were with the very rough, muddy ("boggy" as it was called by someone leaving as we arrived) roads littered with HUGE potholes & ruts. We drive a class B camper van, and ended up leaving at 6am on our last day as it was raining and we were afraid of getting stuck. I do NOT recommend any vehicles larger than our 21 ft van at all, and even other vehicles our size, proceed with caution. Once we made it to the camping area we didn't feel comfortable coming and going as we had planned due to the difficulty of getting im and out.
Be advised the sites that are creekside are very close together...and both nights there were folks blasting their music way past 11pm. There really isn't any privacy, so don't come with expectations of any.
As it is a farm, there is lots of animals poop...so watch where you step. There are also little scavengers at night - so keep your food put away and inside.
We had some nice moments sitting by the creek watching the tide come in...but this was before other campers arrived and the loud partying started.

The worst customer service ever
We have booked our stay a night before, kind of stupid we haven’t check the weather ( it happens to anyone ) kindly message Linda about it, as a customer and normal person being was thinking she was be nicely answering - wrong! 😑 she actually made us feel so uncomfortable and her attitude was so rude. I have never felt this way, she ignored us and was so unprofessional.

Hanscombe Point Plantation
I booked a 2 night stay for a fishing trip and it was my first time here with my brother and friends. The place is really beautiful especially with it being beside the river! We tried fishing and crabbing and unfortunately caught nothing, but the animals we saw in the morning were a nice touch to wake up to. The only con is the campsites are really close, but we had no trouble with the other campers. Would definitely love to come back as it left a good impression on us and the bonding that camping creates!
