Less than an hour’s drive west of Brisbane, on the road to Toowoomba, Rosewood is a small town on the cusp of Queensland’s Scenic Rim. Once you’ve visited the Rosewood Railway Museum, taken a ride on the Rosewood steam train, and enjoyed fishing along the Bremer River, it’s time to explore further afield. Three of the region’s most visited national parks are within easy reach. Start by hiking to waterfalls and along rainforest trails in Lamington National Park, then challenge yourself mountain biking and rock climbing at Mount Barney National Park and camp out in the wilderness at Border Ranges National Park. There’s camping at the showgrounds in Rosewood with powered and unpowered sites available and amenities blocks. Alternatively, you’ll find a selection of Hipcamps dotted around Rosewood and neighbouring towns, ranging from simple bush sites for self-sufficient campers to a hillside eco-retreat.
