We have a old homestead along the mattole river on the lost coast. There is a all year long waterfall across the country road and a view of winter water fall on one of the pyramid mountains that stand over the river valley. The Mattole river is clear clean and gentle for wonderful swimming in the warm months. This house truck is a fun and scenic experience to inhabit on our family farm on the Lost coast, We have four generations living here! A cozy cabin atmosphere with games, books, and tea on the inside. A short stroll to a sweet gazebo outdoor kitchen, a jungle green house with a claw foot (unlimited hot spring water) bathtub, and there’s on site massage available. The kitchen and bath are in shared space near sleeping quarters and we ask you to be finished using them by 10:30 pm. The house truck is located near the barn yard where friendly dogs, chickens; a rooster, llamas, and cats live. You can take another short stroll to the apple orchard, or the herb and vegetable gardens , and there’s a little trail to a gorgeous waterfall across the country road. Going the other direction, you can walk through a magical gate to a bed rock shore of a clear and beautiful river. Swimming is wonderful on the mattole in the fair months. The scenic and cozy atmosphere of the house truck is paired with simple and rustic amenities. You must be agile enough for climbing a short ladder into the loft ,(with plenty of head room.) It has a futon bed and a feather topper and cotton or bamboo sheets. Also you will need to enjoy nature in all of her aspects. There are two general stores at each end of the Mattole valley. They are open from 9-5 most days. They have some groceries, made to order lunches during the week, and gasoline. Also it’s a good idea to take a screen shot of the directions before you loose reliable cell coverage. There’s some cell coverage on the ridges, but not down along the river as much.

The House Truck
A beautiful house truck and magical property. Private hot bath in the greenhouse and large covered outdoor kitchen. The rooster in the morning was bearable but the dog wondering the property barking all night was a bit much. Other than the no sleep, the property was amazing and beautiful. The hosts were friendly and gracious.

Love love
Kirsten met us at the gate accompanied by her dogs zepher and Delilah. They showed us around and we felt immediately at home. We grazed in their wonderful garden. Ate the best strawberries and peach of our lives. All of the animals are so sweet. We had an overall incredible stay. The morning dip in the river and the claw bath tub were both so relaxing after a long travel day. We are sad to have left but so happy to have been able to experience such a wonderful homestead. Thank you <3333

The House Truck
Would not stay again
The camper was adorable and the property was lovely and the hosts were very kind, welcoming, and communicative but I cannot believe I paid this much money for no one to get any sleep. One of their dogs was barking the entire night and the rooster(s?) were kept 30 feet away from the camper. I get better sleep in a campground packed with people than I got here. You couldn’t pay me to sleep this close to roosters but I had to pay for the pleasure. Also I’m not clear on why this was listed as accommodating 3 people. I know it’s a camping website but if you’re going to provide a mattress for some of the listed capacity I feel like you should provide a mattress for everyone? The mattress is only big enough for two (it’s a double in a space that could easily fit a queen or king). When the host’s mother in law checked us in she said she didn’t know where our third person was supposed to sleep. We had our camping gear so the third person posted up on a sleeping pad on the first floor of the camper, but there was enough room for 2 people on the floor. So I would think this listing would either be for 2 or 4 people, not 3.

The House Truck
Gypsy wagon getaway in cozy hamlet
We loved staying in the gypsy wagon and meeting all the friendly critters on the homestead! Kirsten and Josh were so welcoming. Coming from the city for a little weekend getaway, we were able to explore the river, take a short trip to mattole beach on the northernmost tip of the lost coast which was awesome and gorgeous. The little bath in the greenhouse was so cozy and relaxing as we read our books with a light drizzle in the evening. A truly relaxing and one of a kind get away— we hope to return soon!

The House Truck
Unique, artistic, funky and rustic
The House Truck of The Lost Coast✨ My stay was composed of natural beauty, awe & wonder. Paired with artistic, unique and funky rustic dreams brought to life✨ The hosts of this amazing Hipcamp are just absolutely rad. They have created such a beautiful and happy little paradise along the Mattole River. I prearranged for a massage upon arrival. Deep breaths and even deeper sighs of relief. So grateful for Kirsten’s healing hands and beautiful energy. Straight from the massage and into the stunning greenhouse soaking tub I went. So beautiful✨ Soaked three times in this lovely space. My last soak there, until next time anyway, was as the sun set and stars came out. Incredible✨ From the garden, I was encouraged to harvest purple broccoli, kale, carrots and beets to add to my meals that I cooked in the outdoor kitchen. Kirsten & Josh went above and beyond to offer me a lesson in cracking freshly caught Dungeons Crab. So kind of them & absolutely delicious! Hanging out and sleeping in the house truck was nothing less than magical. So many sweet kitties, dogs, horses & chickens roaming around to love on & be entertained by. Shockingly, I saw a bobcat at the beach! At night, the stars shimmered like diamonds in the black velvet sky. I’d say I found the respite and inspiration I was in search of at The Waterfall Ranch.
