Amazing views
Hipcampers say this spot has amazing views.
Surrounded by 40,000 acres of world heritage rainforest, 15 minutes outside the village of Kuranda, you will camp next to the mighty Barron River. This place is totally private and you have access to a sandy beach where swimming is safe and completely secluded. It's a great place for kayaking and stand up paddle boarding. There is a 360 degree view from the property, with nothing made by man in the way. When we purchased this property 37 years ago and built our unique home, it was denuded cattle land, and now we are surrounded by the most beautiful rainforest. We planted approximately 8000 trees.! We have 4 sites available all close to the river, and can provide water as well as access to our toilet. We are agile wallaby carers, with the rescued joeys being released back into the forest from here. After a day of kayaking or hiking or exploring the area we also offer a sunset massage (as available ) by a local masseuse who lives on the property. Paradise ❤
AMAZING place with amazing hosts. We had an awesome time camping here. It's exactly what we wanted. Secluded, close to river, serene, fireplace. Fireflies at dusk made it even more magical. Thank you Judy and Don for sharing your piece of paradise 😌🙏

One of the best spots in FNQ! We are locals who choose to camp here occasionally because it’s such a great little escape close to home. It’s beautiful, relaxing, and feels incredibly safe. Don and Judy are such lovely hosts and we would recommend their property to anyone.

A Grassy Oasis in Kuranda
The campsite is nestled in a serene and picturesque setting. The grassy terrain provides a lush and comfortable place to set up your camp. We found it to be the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Surrounded by nature, we were able to relax and unwind in this peaceful oasis. What truly sets this campsite apart are the hosts. They are iconic figures in Kuranda/Cairns, and getting to know them was a highlight of our trip. Their stories and knowledge of the area added depth to our experience. Their warm welcome and genuine hospitality made us feel like part of their community. For families, the gently flowing river nearby was a blessing. Not too deep, it's a safe and fun place for kids to swim and play. We had a blast spending time by the river, and it added an extra layer of joy to our camping adventure. The availability of water supply and power hook-ups made our stay incredibly comfortable. It's the little things that can make a big difference, and these amenities were greatly appreciated. Having access to a toilet was also a practical convenience that we found to be a huge plus. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend this campsite to anyone visiting Kuranda. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a family looking for a great escape, or a traveler seeking a unique experience, this site has something to offer everyone. We left with unforgettable memories and a desire to return to this peaceful haven in the heart of Kuranda

Barron River Getaway
I loved the secluded site over looking the river, it was beautiful. It felt very remote but was not far from Kuranda at all. The drive in was always an adventure with wallabies, cows horses and deer everywhere. The canoes were also a great way to entertain the kids. Would definitely visit again if we were back in the area.
