Tucked away alongside the Schuylkill River, and just next to the expansive Schuylkill River Trail, Camp Douglass gives you an opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle without leaving the creature comforts at home. A 5 minute drive gets you to more than 6 restaurants, a grocery store, a Wawa, and more.Hello and welcome to Camp Douglass, your private 10 acre oasis along the Schuylkill River. Come by to relax and unwind without needing to leave the creature comforts at home. 🏕 The camp area consists of a large cleared out section of the forest, 3 picnic tables, and a metal fire pit. Here you’ll find beautiful views across and up the Schuylkill river with no houses in sight. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to reach the camp on foot from the parking area via a flat clean trail. You may also drive directly to the site, see below for details. 🐣 PLEASE NOTE: We are still new to hosting, so we politely ask for your feedback and kindness during your stay. Your messages help turn this into a great camping experience to be enjoyed by everyone. 🚲 We are located directly alongside the Schuylkill River Trail, a beautiful nature and biking trail that spans more than 75 miles across Pennsylvania. Bring your bicycle, or simply go for a walk through the endless expanse of beautiful forest in the region. 🏝 Feeling adventurous? Take your kayak or canoe to your very own private island in the middle of the river to experience the ultimate seclusion. 🪵 We have prepared a moderate amount of firewood for our guests, and there are more than enough downed trees throughout the forest around the camp area that you may cut as well. Please do not cut any living trees. 🛤 We are located near an active train line, so you may hear the low rumble of a train a few times during your stay. Because there are no road crossings nearby, you'll never hear a horn. Please read our reviews to see our guest's feelings on the noise before booking. 🐜 Keep in mind, this is a riverside forest. There will be bugs! You may find some mosquitos along the trail on your way to the camp, but generally we have not had any issue with them at the camp itself. Bug spray is advised. 🍳 You'll be a 10-15 min walk from at least 5 restaurants, an 8 min walk to Wawa (24 hour food and toilets), and a 12 min walk to Redners (full size grocery store). 🚌 We are located a 15 min walk away from the Klein bus terminal with twice daily service to and from NYC. 🛻 In Progress: Vehicle access! We are working hard to bring you comfortable van and truck access directly to the riverside campground. Wake up to a beautiful sunrise along the river in the comfort of your own vehicle. If you’re feeling adventurous, ask us about beta testing our new access road.

Can’t wait to return!
We loved this campsite and my friends and I are already talking about returning when it warms up. It’s in an excellent location in relation to grocery stores in town but remote enough that it feels entirely private. The riverside aspect is so scenic too. Definitely recommend!

We had an amazing time! The care and attention to detail Shane took in setting up the site was impressive to say the least. Plenty of firewood, and a hatchet to split kindling. There was even a lantern and room spray in the private (and very clean) port-a-potty! The site is very large and mulched, and the soil wasn’t at all rocky which made setup a breeze. The view of the river, especially at sunset, was beautiful. Other reviewers have cited traffic noise and the nearby freight train tracks as nuisances, but we found the traffic noise quite tolerable, and a small price to pay. The freight trains felt more like a really cool feature. As far as the access road, their directions were very thorough and easy to follow. AWD is definitely required, but Shane has carefully marked any rocks or deep mud that needs to be avoided. If you’re not driving it, I’d suggest packing fairly light as it’s a bit of a walk from the parking area and currently pretty muddy. All in all, we can’t wait to go back!

Easy spot for a quick camp!
The care of the camp was great. Spot was easy to get to with a truck, and the potty was perfectly clean. Nice to have a rake, shovel, and firewood already at camp, as well as the picnic tables. View was lovely, you really feel secluded!

Great campsite. Laid out well, nice amenities (multiple tables, fire ring, firewood, port-a-potty), very relaxing view of the river. Recommend driving to the campsite, as it's a pretty long walk from the entrance carrying camping gear. 4WD not needed to get to the site, but a higher truck/SUV helpful for ground clearance (fairly rutted/bumpy). Easy walk to Wawa and other stores for convenience. Some road noise, and several trains come through 100' away on a regular basis.

The setting is beautiful but much to close to 724 and 422. I live on a noisy busy road and was hoping for peace and quiet. This was not the site for that. Too much traffic noise. The freight trains running only forty feet away was actually very cool. Loud and fast but cool. Over all it was enjoyable! The host is wonderful!
