Mosswood Forest

4 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents5 acres · Veneta, OR
Just down the road from the historic Oregon Country Fair grounds, there is a moss covered forest with friendly folks welcoming you to stop off and rest. Nights are quiet with faint to no road noise or light pollution. The driveway and grounds are flat with safe gated parking space for cars/vans and small-med sized trailers, tents etc. It is our pleasure to offer you a safe space to camp with your friends and family. Learn more about this land: Mosswood is on 5 acres of mostly forested land, there's usually a project going (or three). We've recently finished building a barn workshop, a covered timber frame deck in the meadow, and a very unique woven tree net that you'll be sure to enjoy! No dogs living here, just one friendly cat, otherwise it's squirrel, birds, and the occasional wild turkey procession or coyote. There is a large garden, and when growing season is on, we may send you packing with some fresh greens or veggies! If you see us out and about, feel free to come say hello or ask questions. We love sharing good conversations and ideas about how to live well and stay excited about all things. Towns/Activities nearby: Veneta/Elmira are charming small rural towns with all the basics less than 10 min drive: Grocery Outlet, Bi-mart, Ace hardware, Auto parts, some decent restaurants. Fern Ridge Lake is 10 minutes down the road for walking trails, boating and paddling, plenty of other outdoor activities nearby. Eugene is 25 min, and the beautiful Oregon coast is 45 min drive if you want to smell the ocean air and visit Florence.

We do have another trailer next door that is on the water and accommodates six: https://dreamhomesoforegon.com/the-getaway-orp5b60a93x) offering a respite from the world outside. Here are some things to know about this site: - Although the entire property is 5 acres, this campsite is on a small portion of it that is located on the top of a bluff. - This site has a private beach at low tide. We are working on creating a safe trailway down for our guests. In the meantime, guests who wish to visit the secret beach can access it through our lot next-door. Please message us for directions :-) - There are watercraft, a luxury pavilion with an outdoor kitchen, 10-person spa and wood-burning fireplace, a gas firepit area with comfortable seating overlooking the water, a gazebo for picnics, and a She-shed with Wi-Fi in case you need to do a little bit of work and need some quiet. These are all located on the lot next-door and can be rented through our website. - Your pets are welcome, but they can’t run around freely, as the campsite is situated next to the road and the hillside is steep. There are multiple state parks within a five minute drive as well as the beach where your dogs can run leash free. Access to a sandy beach is located less than a mile away across the Alsea Bay Bridge. There is also free parking at the beach. Perched on a hilltop, the trailer unveils panoramic windows that frame awe-inspiring vistas of Alsea Bay. Behold the ethereal beauty of shimmering waters and dancing reflections as the tides ebb and flow. Allow the magnificence of sunrise to leave you breathless as you revel in nature's own canvas. Within the Airstream, refined indulgence awaits. A plush double bed invites you to surrender to sweet dreams, cocooned in a haven of comfort. The compact bathroom, complete with a shower, ensures that your every need is met with sophistication and grace. And nestled alongside these comforts, a cozy seating area with Adirondack chairs and a picnic table that converts to a bench beckon you to unwind, reconnect, and create lasting memories. As you step outside onto your private camp site, a symphony of nature unfolds before you. The ancient giants of the old growth trees stand as guardians of peace and serenity, their whispered secrets carried on the gentle breeze. Embrace the spirit of adventure as you explore the multitude of gorgeous state parks sprinkled like jewels along Highway 101, where each step is a gateway to discovery. Keep your eyes peeled for the fascinating wildlife that calls this place home, including a nesting pair of Bald Eagles on the property, as they gracefully navigate the tapestry of nature. At low Tide, Alsea Bay reveals your own private Secret Beach. Characterized by a stunning Willow tree that provides a leafy green canopy over the beach, it offers natural driftwood benches that wash up during storms. A perfect place to read a book and immerse yourself in the amazing surroundings of Alsea Bay. Alsea Bay is renowned for its diverse avian inhabitants, inviting you to engage in the art of birdwatching. With binoculars in hand, witness a vibrant symphony of colors take flight—a spectacle that will leave you in awe of nature's exquisite artistry. Venture further, and find yourself at the edge of pristine sandy beaches, inviting you to take long walks, collect seashells, or simply surrender to the caress of the ocean breeze. For those drawn to the water's embrace, Alsea Bay is a paradise of aquatic wonders. Embark on kayaking or paddleboarding adventures, gliding through calm waters that mirror the beauty above. Clamming and crabbing are abundant. Each day presents a new opportunity to immerse yourself in the serenity of the bay, where the boundary between land and water dissolves, and tranquility reigns supreme. As the sun dips below the horizon, leaving behind a tapestry of stars, lose yourself in the poetry of the night sky, as dreams intertwine with the infinite universe, creating a tapestry of wonder that leaves an indelible mark on your soul. While adventures await, nearby attractions beckon with their allure. Explore charming coastal towns, where vibrant culture intertwines with the rhythm of the sea. Visit historic lighthouses standing as sentinels of the past, their beacons guiding ships through treacherous waters.

Anchor's A-Way walk to beach.

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Florence, OR
This house is for the young, or young at heart as it has a ladder-stairway to the loft, where you'll find the queen bed. It's super close to the beach, but in a marvelous wind protected location so you can enjoy the deck in the morning, afternoon and evening. It has as much outdoor living space as there is inside. There is a picnic table for outside dining as well. You'll find 2 rattan swivel rockers, and a 40 inch TV on a rolling cart. It has streaming internet TV with Sling. The built in twin beds are perfect for children, or taking a quick nap in the afternoon, while curled up with a book. I have a thing for A-frames, they've been disappearing, right and left in Florence and on the West Coast in general, as people rip them down and toss up more practical housing. I blogged about this A-frame and Helmsman's Hide-A-Way in January & March of 2013, little did I know I'd wind up with both of them in June 2013 as vacation rentals. While these 2 represent opposite ends of the spectrum, they're both fantastic pieces of history, if you enjoy rustic, funky, and fun historic houses you'll love them, as much as I do. If you're really into A-frames and oddities, ask me and I'll provide you with a self guided tour list, to see in the neighborhood. Since we took on this house the owners have passed on this house to their daughter. I loved hearing the family stories, telling me about swinging out of the loft (before we put in the new loft rail - it's amazing any of us survived ;-) Since we took it on 7 years ago, we have replaced all the windows, siding and re-built the deck rail benches, plus replace the refrigerator and range. In the winter of 2023 we plan to replace the flooring on the main floor. Enjoy Burgers & Brew "where the locals hang out" at Jerry's Place within walking distance or Anchors A-Way is a short drive from the Historic Old Town Florence gift shops, the Antique District, art galleries, wine bars, coffee bistros, and fabulous seafood restaurants. Explore some of the best fishing on one of 17 local lakes, or play on some of the finest sand dunes, and state parks that Oregon has to offer. Amenities: 40 inch Flat Panel Roku Streaming TV ( no traditional networks) AMC, CNN, HGTV, Comedy Central, Cartoon Network, History, TNT, TBS, FOOD, A&E, Lifetime, Travel, NFL Network, FS1, FS2, SyFy, NBCSN, USA, NatGeo & More Outside Chairs & Picnic table Towels, linens, blankets and pillows A fully outfitted kitchen - Electric Apartment size Range, refrigerator, microwave, and all the pots pans dishes and flatware you'll need. Lighthouse Lookout at Heceta Beach

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Florence, OR
Lighthouse Lookout is a is a 1300 square foot home with breathtaking views and quick access to the beach, just across the street. It was built in 2000, but the design was inspired by the Heceta Lighthouse Keeper's House. While not a 150 year old coastal cabin, there is a theme of 'warmth and comfort' from the storm. Those old buildings were-are cold and drafty - we've not had problems keeping salt shaker from caking, or candles flickering! - even when the rain is blowing hard against the house. It is a fantastic spot for watching winter storms. On the first level of the house which is up all of those stairs you see in the photo, you'll find the main living area. Which includes the galley kitchen, dining room & living room all with fantastic views. There is also a bathroom, laundry room and queen bedroom on this floor and quick access to the back deck to enjoy the morning sun or the immense front porch for watching, whales, pelicans, bald eagles and many other birds. Up the stairs takes you to the second floor where you'll find an open loft with a twin bed, desk and TV. In addition there are 2 more queen bedrooms and another bathroom. You even have a view of the lighthouse and the sea lion caves from the north bedroom.

Outdoors, a sunny patio area on the east end of the home has large wind-protected seating options with multiple chair/bench choices while screening vehicles from dominating the open sky feeling. A nearby covered gravel patio with pergola and transparent canopy is slightly more formal outdoor dining venue with a garden/woodside presence. Even the front entry has a sunny deck with adjoining gravel sunspot patio for informal breaks or socializing among plantings and native vegetation. For the slightly adventurous, a one-time sand knoll, now forested, lies beyond a pergola to the "wild side" of the property. Large trees crown the top, where the beam from Heceta Head lighthouse can sweep eerily past on misty nights. Bring a collapsible chair (hanging just inside the side door to the garage) to sit and read a book and feel like you're in the wilderness (you are!). While wandering about the property, be entertained by the unexpected? can you find the gnomes? Now, what's with the name? Captain Cook (1728-1779) never landed in Oregon on his (- voyage in his 78 foot ship, the Resolution, in 1778)- he hardly saw it- and what he described as "snow" was most likely the sand dunes! He was the foremost navigator-explorer of his time. A good summary of his life and voyages is found in Wikipedia. More about his Oregon visit at the Captain Cook Society and at the Oregon Encyclopedia site. But wait, there's more- Joode, one of the owners, is a Brit, born near London, but spent her childhood summers in North Yorkshire- the birthplace of Captain Cook, and a monument to his memory caps Rosemary Topping, visible for miles around. And then- another connection- a best friend's great grandmother was the midwife who assisted in his delivery. It's a small world after all. Homeowner Rich purchased a home on this site in 2002, living here full time until 2006, when he and Joode, having married in 2005, returned to her home in the UK. Rich retired in 2013 following careers in education, forestry and national parks, tours/travel in the USA, and retail garden centers in the USA and UK. Joode is retired from a nursing career with the UK National Health Service in Oxford and the nearby Cotswolds Area of Natural Beauty."We are both enthusiastic gardeners and enjoy the outdoors, birds, beaches, and travel- in fact we met on an adventure tour in South America and were married by the stream at Heceta Beach- just a few minutes' walk from the Captain Cook. ""When at home here in Florence, we listen to the waves and the wind in the trees, and watch the many kinds of birds that visit each day. When we "walk the beach" we may also find sand dollars or other beach treasures, or encounter bald eagles, osprey, seals, or hundreds of sanderlings busily feeding at the surf's edge. It's such a delight to know that the woods and beach stretch for miles beyond." Glamping in Oregon Coast guide

Overview

The Oregon Coast is lush and verdant, owing to regular year-round rainfall. While a little bit of rain doesn’t deter most people from camping here, it does make the concept of staying in a glampsite a bit more appealing. Fortunately, there’s no shortage of glamping options on the Oregon Coast, and many of Oregon’s Seaside state parks offer yurts for rent. Some of the most popular options include Fort Stevens State Park, Nehalem Bay State Park, Umpqua Lighthouse State Park, Beverly Beach State Park, Cape Lookout State Park, Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park, and Harris Beach State Park. Just note that state park yurts are popular and often fill up well in advance, making weekend and summertime stays challenging to book. Fortunately, a growing number of locals rent out private yurts and glamping tents with Hipcamp, both right on the coast and just a bit inland near cities like Cannon Beach, Seaside, Coos Bay, and Bandon. Some of the best glamping sites, cabins, and cottages offer comfort amenities such as wood stoves, provided linens, and free wifi.
