Little Lake Retreat

1 site · Tent2 acres · Port Joli, NS
This is a sweet little property of approximately an acre, though the whole lake is undeveloped. The site is treed with mostly mature trees and overlooks Little Robertson Lake. The lake is close, but the shoreline is not extremely easy to access. This campsite is private, but not remote. It is located close to a byway and you can drive in. There is not too much traffic on the adjacent road which leads to several white sand ocean beaches and trails along with Keji Seaside National Park and Thomas Raddall Provincial Park. All within a few minutes drive.

FORT NOVA

10 sites · RVs, Tents127 acres · Jordan Falls, NS
Oh. My. Gawd. Where to start?! This is one of the original properties for the area. Owned by one lovely family since the 1700's until your current (very lucky) host. The house was the post office from 1861 to 1961. One of the rooms was the hospice for the area... SPOOOOOKY!!! There is a culvert from the 1700's on the property from where the province moved the highway sometime before the 40's. Reggie took over ownership in 2020 and is keeping things as original as possible, but adding his touch, like his battle axe travel trailer, Franny, makes her home in the driveway, but of course. She's worth a visit! - TENT ADVANCED LEVEL LAKESIDE is by far the most beautiful, however it is a small area, and on the edge of the property and I can't be responsible for neighbours to a point. Learn more about this land: Fort Nova is your home for as long as you choose. Let's get campy! You can pick from the lawn, living amongst the pines, a forrest clearing, or even the lake side peninsula. Complete privacy, and y'all can hit me up in the house if you need anything. On the property there is: - A decent sized lake - 1700's abandon bridge - Lots of foraging So many things bloody things to do nearby: - The ocean is right across the street. - Oasis Fish and Chips (Also right across the street!) - Beech Street Kitchen (in Lockeport) - Barrington (Lobster capital of the world, UFO capital of Canada) - Brooklyn (Hank Snow's hometown) - Rail Trail (runs through the property) - Provincial Parks - Boxing Rock Brewing Co.

Ethos Eco Retreat

1 site · Lodging15 acres · Shelburne, NS
Ethos Eco Retreat is a Geodesic Dome within the forests of Nova Scotia’s South Shore, with ocean views and the intention to create a relationship between us and nature. It is a place to leave the ‘busy’ behind. To slow, re-ground, and connect - heart, body and spirit. Ethos is a place ruled by the moon and the seasons - and time does not exist here, as we know it in our normal day to day. You set the pace here. With the intention of having all your senses awakened while falling in synch with the pulse of the nature around you, minimalist luxury is the caveat. You will have the best of everything you need, and nothing of what you do not. We designed the dome to be a container that offers an opportunity to experience all four elements - earth, wind, fire and water - within the sacred geometry of the dome’s structure. Loading the wood burning fireplace while the vintage claw foot tub fills with hot water may become your ritual, while the wind moving through the trees, and the waves reaching the shore, your meditation. The ocean is only a short walk down a winding forest path, and is often best enjoyed with a hot cappuccino or loose leaf tea. Every item, from the organic Egyptian cotton and Flax linen bedding on the king size bed, to the organic wild harvested body/bath products and local fresh roasted coffee, has been intentionally chosen for their love of people and planet. Transparency is everything.

The Vales

2 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents58 acres · Pleasantville, NS
We own 58 acres of forest centered on a very old shale pit near Crescent Beach, Nova Scotia. Our long-term mission is to regenerate the landscape, returning all of the property to a forest in time. We hope to establish small camping compounds for family, friends and guests who would like to stay with us and enjoy the amazing scenery of Nova Scotia's beautiful South Shore. Located just below Huey Lake, our property is watered by a stream that flows from the lake, through a series of tiny waterfalls in a gorge, through beautiful pine, maple, and oak forest down to a meandering wetland that drains into the Petite Riviere watershed. Beavers are active in the area and have already begun the process of returning the old quarry to the wilderness. Their activities have created deep ponds where once there was a pit dug from the land for the shale that is abundant in this area. The beavers dammed and diverted the stream which has created a pond and wetland system at the lower end of the property. If you are very quiet in the early morning you may get to see Castor as he busily swims about his watery home. Located near some of the most beautiful features of Lunenburg County, our property is a 5-minute drive from Crescent Beach, Risser's Beach Provincial Park, and Petite Riviere. Opportunities to cycle, hike, swim, canoe, kayak, surf and sail are all around us.

The best camping near Port L’Hebert Provincial Park guide

Overview

About

Embark on an adventure through Port L’Hebert Provincial Park, where a 2.1 km looped trail invites you to explore the remnants of ancient glaciers. Wander amid hardwood forests and colossal granite boulders, and be rewarded with stunning coastal views. Adjacent to a federal migratory bird sanctuary, this park offers a serene escape into nature's embrace, just a stone's throw from the vibrant ecosystems of Thomas Raddall Provincial Park and Kejimkujik National Park Seaside Adjunct.

When to go

The best time to visit Port L’Hebert Provincial Park is during the warmer months, from late spring to early fall, when the trail is most accessible and the coastal views are at their most splendid. Winter visits can be challenging due to snow and ice, but offer a serene, frosty landscape for the well-prepared adventurer.

Know before you go

  • Ensure you have appropriate footwear for hiking over uneven terrain and granite boulders.
  • Bring binoculars to enhance your bird-watching experience in the adjacent migratory bird sanctuary.
  • Check the local weather and trail conditions before your visit to avoid any unexpected closures.
  • While there are no camping facilities, day-trippers can fully enjoy the park's natural offerings.
  • Remember to carry out all trash and respect the natural habitat of the wildlife.
