R.O.S.A. Land stands for Rare Occaneechi Saponi Alluvial Land-based retreat and campground offering individuals and small groups a place for rest, exploration, sanctuary, and grounding. Equal parts woodland, floodplain wetland and pastureland, R.O.S.A land is stewarding 23 acres of ecological magical oasis on a tributary of the Upper Tar River in an Aquatic Habitat deemed an important NC Natural Heritage area of the Piedmont of North Carolina. Rare mussel species and amphibians live here. Come see for yourself! This is a queer-stewarded rematriation project. This land is co-owned by MK of Handewa Farms and K Cox, Steward of the Respite and will be passed on to her seven children, farm family of land partners, Handewa Farms. We offer nature-based immersion for artists, healers, cultural and frontline organizers and their families taking time for restful resistance. It is a triptyech of woods, water and pastureland butting up against an untouched wild old hardwood forest - a combination unlikley found in the PIedmont- nestled among small tobacco, horse and hay farms in the Southeast corner of Granville County between Oxford and Roxboro in the beautiful PIedmont of North Carolina.

This was my first camping trip with my friends , I feel like this was the perfect spot for a group of new campers, the amenities were well kept, the campsites are well spread out and the views were amazing. Will be recommending this site to all my friends and family.

Hug-the-River (#1)
This was my first time camping in NC after moving from CT and I was so happy to find an openly queer friendly place to camp because I was a little nervous about it. My partner and I had a great time and felt very safe - there was a few minutes around 9pm we heard several rounds of gunfire on neighboring property but we brushed it off as just people having "fun" and we didn't hear it again after that. It was very quiet and our site felt secluded, but at the same time it was nice to know there were other people spread throughout the property. The outhouse, shower, and dish washing station were all well kept and functioning. The grounds are beautiful and we woke to a beautiful sunrise, ducks in the river, and the cooing of a morning dove. A great experience over all! Our dog also had a great time, lol.

Glamp in Sonny the Wonder Bus
Kristen and the land were wonderful hosts! It was an honor to stay where the land is being stewarded by first peoples. Words would not do justice for how special and sacred this land is. Sonny the bus was a cozy and darling nest for the night. Wish I could have stayed longer but had to head back up north.

Glamp in Sonny the Wonder Bus
It was a super cool spot, so much attention to detail inside the bus. We really enjoyed our stay, we would've loved to explore the property, but cold temps and windy conditions kept us hunkered down inside, which wasn't an issue for us. I would definitely stay again🙂
