The site was once home to the Old Gilboa Post Office and has amazing ecological features including fossils Learn more about this land: This is a 2 acre site that offers a wonderful terrain with 2 streams one being seasonal and the other spring fed, wooded hills and 4 seperate clearings to set up a campsite. We had a mix feelings about this place. We thing its a great place with a lot of potential. Sadly its not worth it . When we got there there the entrance was really confused, we saw a lot of tall grass in the area, there was not space for our tents since everything was covered in tall grass, our car was stuck right in the entrance because there was a big hole that we didn’t see because of the grass, we didnt see any table as they say and there was garbage bags everywhere. We been camping for years, we have material and the experience. It rain 100 percent thought our 2 whole nights, lucky us we were really prepared for this situation. If you dont have your covers besides the tent on a night like that you might get really wet , and could dangerous because of all the mud. Overall we did enjoyed hiking around the area, we also went to the falls its just near by. We love the silent thats just beautiful. We think the place has a great potential, the space its big enough to make a nice camp area. The owner definitely needs to take care of the area, cut the grass and make a better entrance so costumers can feel safe and welcomed. I doNOT recommend to take your fur babies if they are not well trained, the camp area its open space near the highway and it could be dangerous, and since the area is not taken care of there is alot of ticks and fleas. Mine came home with a lot of them even though shes on her pills. So please be careful.

Good camping spot
Site is great for people who are geared up properly. Might not be for the beginner camper. Pretty rough camping spot but we liked the rawness of the spot and we had a good night. Takes some navigation to get there because of a road closure. Beautiful area all around. Minekill Falls is just up the road and there is a very pretty waterfall with fossils in the river bed. All in all pretty decent.

LOVED IT, but not what I expected.
We really had an awesome experience and would definitely go back. It was quiet, secluded, and currently on a closed road so perfect for the dogs to run. That being said, it wasn’t what we expected at all. It’s like a excavation site with trees down everywhere, not a lot of flat ground, and the drive ways are in very rough shape. But totally doable. We had 4 tents going and 10 people, 4 dogs and like 6 cars at one point, and everyone had a good time. And for the price, totally worth it. Plus it’s only 7-10mins from mine kill state park and the waterfall there was amazing. Overall, B+.

Affordable site, misleading photos
Although this was a comfortable and large site, the listing/photos were a bit misleading. A few things to note: + The host provided plenty of firewood which was lovely! We built our own safe fire pit and recommend bringing chairs. + Pets are welcome and we felt safe letting our dog run around the site freely. -The driveway is right off a main road which is convenient, but you will likely hear drivers -There was no toilet available, at least that we were able to find -There was trash left behind from previous campers, would recommend the host frequent the site between guests. -There is a picnic table, but it is quite small. We were only 2 people, so it worked for us. But any more would be a squeeze. -The driveway is marked with cones- getting in late at night we were a bit unsure if we at the right spot. I would recommend the owner share some more photos of what to expect on-site. Overall, the site was convenient, affordable, safe and large. However, it is not as remote and finished as the listing may indicate.
