HORSE CAMP HILL; Walk with horses!
The name of this Hipcamp says it all. We got to camp on a hill with horses! Unlike other hipcamps we've been to with horses, this one, you get to camp INSIDE the pasture with the horses. It was an amazing experience getting to watch the horses run and play. At one point, the horses walked up and tried to stick their heads inside our campervan to say hi and to see what we were eating for dinner. Lisa was a fantastic host. When we arrived, they showed us to our site and, later in the day, even had the horses run up to our site for some snacks. We had a fantastic time and can't wait to be able to stop here again next time we pass through the state!

HORSE CAMP HILL; Walk with horses!
What a unique experience! We were just looking for a place to camp after seeing a show at Ommegang and stumbled on this listing. We had a really short stay, but really enjoyed it. The horses were curious and fun to see. We camped on the top part of the field because we weren't sure how our little Prius would do going into the lower parts of the field. Lisa put out fresh hay to keep the horses busy when we got in late and, generally after their initial curiosity when Lisa was showing us the area to camp, they left us alone. Lisa was so kind, welcoming, and had fresh eggs for us in the morning. If we need a place to stay again we will be back. Other things to know: As the pictures show, there are so many horses! Even after seeing the photos we were surprised. Also, this is camping in the a field, so expect just that. Our stay was so short that we missed out on all of the other things Lisa had to offer, like a bonfire, seeing more of the grounds, and feeding the horses.

HORSE CAMP HILL; Walk with horses!
My family loved Ed and Lisa's place, even those of us who aren't horse people! Being in the pasture with the horses is such a unique experience! We are country people who love quiet and this was perfect. Mountains, horses in their pasture, a campfire... just beautiful. Ed and Lisa were so kind and made sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend this place!

HORSE CAMP HILL; Walk with horses!
A unique and fun adventure!
Camping here in our travel trailer was hands down the most unique, fun experience we’ve had yet! The horses are beautiful, and definitely curious! They will come visit, and we love horses so for us, it was a great experience. The views are amazing. Lisa and Ed were great, and we thank them for their warm hospitality! Fresh farm eggs for breakfast was the nicest surprise, and marshmallows for the kids to roast on the fire! We made fantastic life long memories here, and will definitely be back in the future!

HORSE CAMP HILL; Walk with horses!
A slice of wild Africa in Catskills
Beyond awesome. The experience is somewhere in-between Old McDonald's Had a Farm and a weekend in Jurassic Park.
Fields, woods, user friendly wildlife. Their horses make Me Ed look like a total retard. And friendly
The hosts, Ed and Lisa are the real deal and a dying breed of farmers and ranchers. My stay made me realize that a sustainable planet is not a new idea. Traditional American agriculture . See for yourself.
Google ASIL Arabians & Araloosas for addition background info.
I'll be back as the cliche goes.

HORSE CAMP HILL; Walk with horses!
Horse Farm
From the beginning, Lisa (the owner) had been keeping me informed on what to expect while camping at her farm. She also let us know that 2 horses would possibly give birth while we're there. With our luck, one did give birth. We didn't get to witness the birth but we got to meet the new addition to the farm the very next day.
Lisa is a great host and just wants you to have the best experience possible. The horses came and investigate who we were and when they saw we were just there to camp, they went back to their side of the field. The field is well maintained and private. Ed, showed us to different parts of the farm we can set up camp. He maintains the field and if there's anything you need, he'll go above and beyond to make it happen. The stars were beautiful the first night. Fire wood is easy to find and Ed came by with paving stones to help build a fire pit for us. They offered to put a fence around our campsite in case the horses came around. We went without it and the horses never became a problem. They're part of the landscape and beautiful to see when they graze nearby.
It rained heavily unfortunately on the second day while we were there. But we went out into Cooperstown so it wasn't such a big damper as there were a few good breweries to see nearby. Also, a gas station nearby if you need to grab some snacks or basic things. Overall a great campsite and a great experience. Primitive camping, no electricity, no running water, just a field with a beautiful view and great hospitality.
