If you’re seeking out a quiet spot along the North Coast of New South Wales, the laid-back seaside village of Harrington has beaches, waterways, and coastal hikes right on its doorstep. Drive your 4WD right onto the sand at Harrington Beach State Park or walk through the rainforest to Harrington Lagoon, where the calm waters are ideal for swimming and water sports. Further north, Crowdy Bay National Park is teeming with wildlife (including koalas and migrating whales) and wildflowers (look out for wild orchids and Christmas bells around the dunes) and has great beach camping. Campers can also choose from several caravan parks and holiday parks in and around Harrington, many of which have direct access to the beach and provide amenities such as a dump point, camp kitchen, and BBQ areas. Wallingat National Park, Tapin Tops National Park, and Coorabakh National Park are also all within day-trip distance.
