Amazing views
Hipcampers say this spot has amazing views.
Amaroo also known as Snake Valley MX for its motorcross tracks, is situated on over 300 acres and backs onto the Toonumbar National park. The property sits at the top of a 2.3km dirt road to the top of a small mountain with incredible views of Mount Lindsay and Mount Barney. The owner (my dad) has spent over 30 years bringing the land back from blade glass to the early stages of rainforest, through native seed propagation and bush regeneration. Much of it is not accessible by car, and the cleared areas are maintained for camping. After decades of keeping the land free from domestic and commercial animals, the native wildlife has had come back in abundance and is thriving. Depending on the time of year you could see any number of wallabies, goannas, and echidnas, to countless varieties of birds and butterflies, small marsupials, koalas, micro bats, snakes, and even a few lone dingos have been spotted from a distance during duck breeding season. Therefore we don’t allow dogs or cats to be brought onto the property. Pitch your tent, or pull up your situation either on level gravel or in a grassy zone however close or far from the communal zone as you wish. The communal zone is made up of a shack with a kitchen sink and a BBQ, there is tank water and lights all running off solar, a big long bench table and stools for preparing food, underneath the pagola of this open shack is an indoor fireplace, with a TV hung off the roof you can hook your phone into. 50m from the shack connected by gravel paths and garden beds is the hot gas shower and composting toilet, each in their own enclosed dwellings with lights. From the shack and where you camp you will have the best views of the mountains. You will be 100m-ish from the top main dam where you can swim (we just ask that you don’t remove the fish, yabbies or turtles from their homes). The level below the shack is the main house where the property owner lives, and the level below that is the motocross tracks. There are walking and bike paths down to the motocross tracks that avoid going past the main house, if you are riding or just want to go for a walk. PLS NOTE you may be camping with other people during your stay at Amaroo. This listing is open for up to 3 parties of campers. Also there is a small community of motorcross riders that access the private tracks and sometimes camp. Most of the time this property is peaceful and filled with noises of birds and tree breeze, but there are occasions where the tracks will be in use. Amaroo Mountain Top Retreat
A great place to get away
Great level sites and well maintained. Great kitchen facilities. The toilet and shower facilities were clean and tidy. The host was very friendly and had great knowledge about his property and local area.

Loved this place, ash was very welcoming and there was a lovely kitchen and dining area. Woke up to amazing views. We didn't bring a dirt bike but the tracks were bloody epic. Plenty of wildlife in the area if you are willing to go look for it. Highly recommended

Amaroo Mountain Top Retreat
Lovely place with handy amenities and a great hot shower for after a long day of hiking (you still have to drive to get to some trails). Plus a view of Mount Lindesay and Mount Barney in the distance. The bikes only came in by 9ish when we were leaving the camp so we had no issues with noise.

Loved my stay, was a perfect camping experience, quiet and peaceful, with beautiful views. Clean toilet, hot shower and running water right near by, ( when camping next to the shack ) made this a really comfortable camping experience! Lovely host and owner also made me feel right at home. Would camp again 😊
