We built our home 30 years ago on 8 acres of hay field. Everything you see on our property was put here by us!! We have had dogs, a couple of horses, cats of course and chickens too. The horses, dogs and chickens are gone but we still have cats...and we have a pond off our deck with about 50 goldfish and a couple dozen frogs!! Our kids are all grown and we are left wondering what is next. For the past 12 years or so we have had at least one or two camp outs a year on our property with just friends. Then we started thinking "why not invite others?" We know how difficult it can be to get camping reservations in the area....then I bumped into a Hipcamp Host who told me about this.... so here we are! We are animal and nature lovers and our gardens are here for you to enjoy. We'd love to give you a tour and tell you all about every plant if you are interested. Or we will ignore you and let you do your own thing in our 'backyard'! We offer rustic boondocks camping or set up nearer to our buildings and we can supply you with power....110, 30 and 50 available for a small extra charge Welcome to Traverse City and welcome to Camp David!! There are 3 campsites that have electricity for an additional fee. We are located close to many outdoor activities. Water is available to be transported. Fire rings are provided. There is a convenience store nearby and a grocery 3 miles away. Enjoy Traverse City dining and activities all just minutes away from our little bit of paradise! We are a cannabis friendly campground. Fyi...Traverse City now has 16 cannabis dispensaries. Bring with or buy here. Its all good!! We love animals and nature so come see our gardens and our wildlife neighbors! Your pets are our pets so please bring them along...just please clean up after them. This is the way......

Camping with the deer!

We loved our stay! Gail & Dave were amazing camp hosts and went above and beyond for us. We woke up to a dead car battery and Dave drove out to jump start us. Our site was on top of a hill with a great view of an open field where we watched a family of deer dance around before sunset. Very quiet and close to the VASA trails.

Beautiful clean space & great value

We had an awesome stay at Camp David! Gail was so welcoming and helpful to answer our questions and give us so much information on what to do. Great location close to Traverse City. We loved the tent campsite on the hill with the wonderful fire pit and wood delivered to us by Gail! Clean outhouse and quiet area. Couldn’t ask for more!

Beautiful spot near Traverse City

Gail and Dave have a beautiful and private place close to Traverse City and they are such wonderful people. They greeted us on arrival and made sure we were parked in a decent spot where we could plug into their 30amp outlet. A few other campers were onsite too but we were far enough away for privacy. They had an outdoor water faucet we could use as well as a portable fire pit. Our dogs loved exploring the property too. We would definitely stay here again.

The property was beautiful! Checking in was smooth, and they even gave us a fire ring and a fire poker! We would definitely come back to visit and bring our dogs!
