Overall wonderful experience
Such a cool spot! The tent was great- it had a ton of resources for making fires and cooling, etc. The land/farm itself is beautiful. Very peaceful.
My only note to future folks who bring dogs - if your dog gets super interested/excited about seeing animals- is to make sure you put your dog on a leash to get up to the campsite.
The guard dog is sososo sweet (so is the adorable cat) but the dog is “on duty” snd has a job to do. My dog got excited and started to bark, got a little too close to the pen, and well…the the guard dog did it’s job. My dog wasn’t hurt at all. I just wanted to share to emphasize the note that is already in the listing- to drive your dog up or make sure you leash and walk around back. The dog is so sweet that I can see where it might be easy to want to let them play but as it says in the listing and on the sign (which I saw in the morning) the dog is working! :)
All that said- I would love to stay here again!

Warm and cozy!
Beautiful farm and wonderful site. We unfortunately got pummeled with rain so we didn’t get to hike but were warm and dry in the yurt!

This was our third time staying at Hruby Ranch and it was a magical time. The ranch has the best yurt and this time it got really cold but the stove heated up and we were warm in no time! Tom is a great and responsive host! Izzy and the orange cat have the best personalities. And the sunrises and sunsets are beautiful. If you’re thinking about going to Hruby Ranch, I highly suggest it!

Camp for those who don't know how
We enjoyed our stay at Hruby Ranch. Great opportunity to really hang out as a family and unwind and unplug. This self-proclaimed non-outdoorsy gal had a wonderful stay! My kids (4 & 10) wanted to camp and this tent was the perfect compromise for our family. They loved the playground, climbing landscape logs and sand space, & even the mini "hike" to our tent. Tent was spacious enough for our family of 4 & my 6'7" partner was plenty comfortable too. Bed was cozy for us both. Kid 1 slept on provided cot, kid 2 on the lil couch. (Bring extra linens for everything but the bed!) The working farm was sweet & my city kids especially loved all the animals! If you don't want animals (re: noises, smells, bugs) don't stay here. We got a kick outta the noisy duck and barking dog - it didn't bother us!- but worth noting if you're looking for a *quiet*, secluded campsite under the stars. The bathroom is a short walk away fyi. And general headsyp-I wouldn't say this stay is accessible those with ADA needs (rocky to mulch terrain, tent itself is narrow to navigate inside, portojohn is small one w/out ramp, outdoor shower, very dark at night all around). Overall, great stay and would recommend to friends.

Peaceful, open, comfortable
We loved staying on this farm! Spaces are a good distance apart and made for a quiet stay. The tent was spacious with a comfortable bed and firewood and cooking supplies was provided which was much appreciated! We loved seeing all the animals and taking in the beautiful views. It was so peaceful. Keep in mind you are staying in a open field close to a wooded area so bring bug spray. (This did not take away from the experience just want others to be prepared)

I really enjoyed the stay at Tom's place. The location is so beautiful and it was wonderful not to have to buy & cart up all the camping equipment letting me focus on just the fire and the food. The location is near (45 min drive) The Indiana Dunes State Park, a gorgeous hiking park. The tent was sturdy, and the bed, comfy. All of the many animals friendly.
