Large 'Big Island' Canvas Tent
Stay in a Tropical Garden!
We loved camping at Sun Farm! In fact, we loved it so much that we canceled our Waikiki resort plans at end of our 2 week stay on the Island to instead come back to end our vacation at the farm. We spent 5 nights at the Sun Farm in their Big Island canvas tent, then we changed things up and parked a camper van (The Big Kahuna) at the farm for 3 nights. And then came back for the end of our trip to stay again in the Big Island tent. Felt like a kibbutz. Cool laid back vibe. All the basics were covered. The farm is clean and has flush toilets! Every reservation had a dedicated space in a fridge, a dedicated tub to put dry food goods and everyone had access to communal gas burners to cook on. The Gilligan's Island shower under banana leaves took the experience over the top. The rotating volunteer staff were great and fun to get to know. It was surprisingly rural being that it was so close to town. Good location to access Honolulu, Southern Coast (Makapuku'u, Haunama Bay) and the Windward Coast (Wiamanalo, Kailua, Lanikai). The farm is literally on the back slope of Koko Head (which BTW has a Plumeria garden inside the crater, a must see)! It was fun to walk around the farm's gardens of tropical fruit trees. Be sure and take advantage of the fresh fruit they have for sale there via the honor system! FYI--the roosters do start to crow early (3am) and you might want to bring your own utensils and paper ware to eat off of as there is no kitchen hot water to wash dishes.

Large 'Oahu' Canvas Tent
Everything about this farm and the tent was so perfect. Enjoyed the stay, the tent was spacious and sturdy, the bed was cozy. I came in after dark and thought it was so thoughtful that there was a light on for me when I arrived.

Large "Lanai" Tent
Mostly Pleasant stay
Overall a good experience. Probably needed some more guidance or meet the host session as no one connected with me to explain or help with questions unless I went to find them. No one welcomed me or asked about my stay in the time I was there. No exit chat with anyone. Just up and leave. Never met host, owners or people except for other travellers or woofing ppl Could have provided more info about how to get around and local area tips or recommended places to visit
