Liberty Vines
Nice little spot in the vineyard. We were able to park in the shade of the trees and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Easy to get to from the road!

Nice private space in the vineyard. Some houses nearby, but still quiet. Very shady from the big trees

Our group of 4 had a good time. It was our 1st time "vineyard camping." The site is easy to locate by following his instructions and photos. I've noticed many reviewers on multiple listings complaining that the host did not greet them. That's confusing to me because the host doesn't owe you anything except your site and accommodations on the listing. I prefer skipping the meet and greet and greatly appreciated Paul giving our group space, water for our hand washing station, and logs to start our campfire. Paul's home is about ~150 feet away from the site in full view, as well as his neighbors homes roughly ~450 feet in full view. In the photos most of the grapevines seem in full growth but we arrived to dormant grapevines which ended up giving us less privacy. Although people could see us and we could see the his neighbors driving/walking by, I didn't notice anyone blatantly staring. We were the only campers. Paul's quiet, but his neighbors were a bit louder and active the weekend we visited eg shouting across the meadow to one another to communicate and renting heavy machinery to work their land. On the other hand, there were NO flys, mosquitos, wasps, or bears to worry about, ample shade, comfortable temp, slight breeze, and awesome starry night (if not too cloudy). We set up our volleyball net and got a solid hour of play. Overall a good experience. Thank you for hosting, Paul

Not quite kid friendly
We didn’t end up staying here for long. We have two kids, a 4 year old and a 9 month old. The ground was covered in branches and bark from the eucalyptus trees so it was hard to find a space for them to play outside. We got the tent set up, cooked dinner, and ate. But while eating I noticed some really big branches on the ground and it worries me. Eucalyptus trees are known as widow makers, and these ones were huge, old, and had recently dropped large branches. There were also a lot of gnats flying around and it just didn’t feel comfortable. We ended up packing up and leaving after dinner. I’m sure a lot of it was mom anxiety because of the trees, but I don’t think I would recommend this spot for people with kids. It would probably be an okay spot for two to four adults who just want to hang out.

We spent a beautiful early Fall day and night in our trailer at Liberty Vines. The site was easy to find yet very secluded. We literally did not lay eyes on another person while camping in the vineyard. We awoke to the crowing of a rooster, which was some distance away and not so loud as to be anything other than a nice reminder that we were out in the country. The port-a-potties were clean. All in all, Liberty Vines is a place we'll return to for a quick getaway.

Nice campsite, easy river access
My partner, dog and I had such a relaxing stay! We've camped at a vineyard before, but this was super private and had great shade from the huge eucalyptus trees. The rocking Adirondack chairs at the campsite were a huge improvement over camp chairs, and there was plenty of level ground for pitching our tent. Great cell service was a bonus, as I was on call for work. The Mokelumne River Day Use Area is so close and we ended up going both days during our stay to wade - so easy to get to, dog friendly, very few other people there, and free! Would love to come back here.
