The property is on a quiet dead end road. The Hipcamp site is at the edge of forested area opening onto a small meadow, so there is both sun and shade. There is a faucet and a sink at the site in addition to an electrical RV hookup. We are 2.5 miles from downtown Nevada City, 4 miles from the Yuba River and near many mountain biking and hiking trails. We are in a rural setting. There are many noises that are a part of our landscape including a bird chorus in the early morning, dogs throughout the neighborhood, a rooster, ducks and at times peacocks. We also have wild animals that occasionally roam through the property (deer nightly). We understand that fires are part of the ambiance of camping, BUT we are a FIRE FREE SITE. Fire danger, no matter how careful one is, is too real of a danger to our neighborhood. Propane camp stoves are fine.Pitch your tent or pull up your camper just off a quiet, private road. There is a picnic table, a kitchen sink and a hammock to lounge in. The site is close to the Yuba River, many hiking and mnt. biking trails and minutes away from Nevada City. Enjoy a stay in the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills

Dogs' End Camping Site
I was fortunate to find Dog's End as a place to stay in my 16' trailer while I was attending the California World Music Festival at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. The weekend weather was over 100 degrees, and Carol's 30amp plug at the campsite meant I could run my A/C, fan and fridge, which meant for great sleeping. I spent my days at the Fairgrounds, but was thrilled to have such a serene, quiet, level (!) place to sleep in my trailer at night! Follow Carol's directions-my phones google maps lost access after I left Highway 49.

Dogs' End Camping Site
My family and I had a wonderful time at Dog’s End! We were greeted with flowers on the picnic table and a hello from Carol. Carol was friendly and kind. She even invited my kids to pick strawberries in her garden, which they loved! My kids enjoyed going to a nearby park, Pioneer Park and we enjoyed some delicious ice cream at Treats on Main Street. The campsite was beautiful, very clean and the outdoor sink made things so much easier with little ones. We saw lots of wildlife and wildflowers. I read the previous review and although we did hear the occasional dog bark it wasn’t anything I would consider bothersome. The camp is in a neighborhood but on our walks the neighbors were friendly and greeted us with smiles. One neighbor even brought my kids lost toy back to us 😊. Dog’s End was a great relaxing retreat from busy life. Would definitely recommend.

Dogs' End Camping Site
Barking Barrage
I hate to be the first person to leave a negative review, however sometimes these things need to be out in the open. Overall Carol was very kind and her son was well-mannered and brought us strawberries. The site looks more remote on Hipcamp, but unfortunately it is in a neighborhood surrounded by dogs that would bark and howl at us constantly (guess that’s why it’s called ‘Dog’s End’ but didn’t think much of it since dogs are not allowed at the site). If you do not mind the barking of dogs, then this site is otherwise great. The neighbors told us we are “putting our campsite at risk” for complaining about the constant barking and that they “do not want people sleeping in their backyard” …even though it’s not on their property. The man was standoffish and rude. The dogs kept barking at us and we could even see the dogs pacing the fence next to the camp. Because of the constant barrage of barking and the neighbors hinting at doing something to our campsite, we cancelled our trip a day early and went home. The positives: the site is very clean with a sink, potty, and flat areas to pitch a tent. It is close to town and plenty of areas to explore. We enjoyed being able to easily go to dinner, explore new areas, and enjoy the smells of fresh, piney air.
