Overview

About

An excellent park for rainbow trout fishing, White Lake Provincial Park is frequented by anglers and flyfishers. The resident western painted turtles (the only native pond turtle left in BC) are also popular highlights typically found in shallow waters. Visitors also come for canoeing, birding, swimming, and boating, and stay in the undeveloped White Lake Campground, best suited for self-contained campers.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. White Lake Campground’s sites are all first-come, first-served.
  2. Spots are easiest to come by outside of the main camping season after September 30 and before May 14.

When to go

White Lake offers angling opportunities year-round, but the primary camping season runs from May 14 through September 30. Visit in summer to see painted turtles bask in the sun or go trolling around on the lake for rainbow trout. The park is accessible year-round except when the lake is frozen.

Know before you go

  • It’s important to avoid disturbing, touching, or moving any painted turtles or other shoreline species.
  • All pets must be leashed at all times.
  • ATVs are prohibited in White Lake Provincial Park.
