The Sanctum on Highline Road

11 sites · RVs, Tents142 acres · Lillooet, BC
Situated on a mountain plateau overlooking beautiful Anderson Lake there is a rugged beauty to this land. Through a quirk of geography, our land is remote and wild while only being a 3 hour drive from Vancouver. Located at the beginning of the Highline Road popular with adventure seekers, this property is about a 10 minute drive from the Anderson Lake boat launch in D'Arcy. The lake is a fisherman's dream known for its rainbow and bull trout. Paddle boarding, hiking, biking, and motorized sports are among the activities enjoyed in the area. Upon ascending the initial gravel road climb, you will be greeted with fantastic mountain and lake views. Pines, cedars, firs, birch, and aspen make up the forest cover while junipers and wildflowers find their home in the clearings between the trees. Hot during the day and cool at night, the views truly glow just before sunset and then again as the moon rises to cast pale shadows on a land free from light pollution. The property is still under development, so please excuse the mess as we build out our off-grid spa and amenity spaces. Currently we only offer a compost toilet, but stay tuned for a further refined experience that will include access to water, showers, 6 person hammocks, and trails. At this time we do not allow fires due to local fire ban, but CSA approved propane fire pits will soon be available for rent.

Wild Farm with Mountain Views

4 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents26 acres · BC
Wild Farm with Mountain Views Camp with Bambi! Wildlife viewings including bears, moose, deer, geese, ducks, hummingbirds, warblers, finches and wolves. Big open 360 degree mountain views. Bright stars and open field where you can tuck into the treed edge next to the deers! The moonlight can be as bright as daytime and the stars are quite a site. There are four sites to choose from according to your needs. The RV sites are for RV's that are self-sufficient without the need for electricity nor water in or out (no dumping and there is no running water nor an outhouse at RV sites). RV's will be parking on grass and the site requires levelling. We can accommodate vehicles up to 39ft in length. Have your choice of bringing your own tent or using ours! New Glamping Dome Tents with Queen Sized Beds, table and chairs and hammocks including a small van fridge/stove and covered counter for cooking . Unplug and Unwind to the sound of breeze through the trees and romantically flowing water from the nearby creek. There is no cell service or electromagnetic disruption here which makes for a beautiful peaceful mountain retreat. Bring your telescope for the opportunity to see clear, off the grid skies and epic star viewing for the astronomer in you. Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park is walkable from our farm and there you can hike, fish, swim, paddle, and more! This road is maintained by Canadian Department of Forestry. It is a gravel road that in winter would require 4x4. Otherwise we've seen many EVO cars (Prius Hybrid or fully electric Kia Niro) and even fancy BMW sedan's on this road.

The best camping near Joffre Lakes Provincial Park guide

Overview

About

North of Pemberton off the scenic Duffy Lake Road, Joffre Lakes Provincial Park is an exceedingly popular backcountry destination for hikers, campers, and photographers. Main features include the glacier-crested mountain peaks and the pristine, turquoise waters of Lower, Middle, and Upper Joffre Lakes, made blue thanks to glacial silt deposits. The park and its campsites are located in a mountainous alpine location and can remain cool even in summer. The park’s campsites consist of permitted 26 hike-in only campsites near Upper Joffre Lake—campers hiking the steep, rugged 10-kilometre trail here should expect backcountry conditions and be equipped to self-rescue and pack out what they pack in.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Make your plans early to reserve a backcountry campsite—reservations open in March each year and can be made via phone or BC Parks’ Discover Camping website.
  2. A reservation is required for any overnight stay in Joffre Lakes Provincial Park. Campers without a reservation cannot stay overnight.
  3. Winter camping is not available between November 1 and April 15 due to avalanche risk. Be sure to check seasonal opening and closing dates.

When to go

Joffre Lakes Provincial Park is typically extremely busy from May into September. Springtime may still see snow on the ground and the possible emergence of wildlife, while the park’s camping areas are closed in winter due to avalanche risk.

Know before you go

  • No emergency services are available at Joffre Lakes. Visitors must be self-sufficient in this remote wilderness environment and properly equipped to pack everything out.
  • Joffre Lakes Provincial Park doesn’t have wifi or cell phone service.
  • Bring your own drinking water, as potable water is not available in the park. Water from lakes or streams should be boiled for at least two minutes.
  • Dogs and campfires are prohibited at Joffre Lakes Provincial Park in order to protect the environment and wildlife.
  • The parking lot fills very quickly, particularly on weekends, and even a camping reservation doesn’t guarantee a parking spot. Plan ahead and arrive early.
