Hillside Camping at Shuswap Lake
You don't need a tent
we loved the area very quiet. Mike is a great guy even pop by then saw us at the corner store (great food breakfast and supper) it is a ways out so be care as hipcamp does not have a clue where one place is and the distance to get the the camp site they recommended is.

Hillside Camping at Shuswap Lake
Very steep
Unfortunately, it did not work for us. Site was too steep for us to park trailer. Area is still under development and will get there. Fortunately, lots of other places to choose from in the area. Mike was great, he tried parking trailer for us as he’s most familiar with steep hill, but our two wheel drive truck was no match for the hill. We were very much looking forward to secluded beach…

Hillside Camping at Shuswap Lake
It's All in the Name
It’s truly all in the name; it is, in fact, “[steep] Hillside Camping at Shuswap Lake”. Simple and straight to the point, Mike’s property is a good place to plunk down a tent within walking access to a surprisingly low-key beach on Shuswap Lake. By walking distance, I mean just across the street, technically even accessed off the same property, according to Mike. This lake access is the obvious highlight of this location, with its semi-private bay, perfect for spending a few hours sun-bathing and swimming, maybe even having a beach fire. The beach itself is apart of Shuswap Lake Marine Park, and features a pit toilet, which is currently the closest toilet to the campsites, but that’s only temporary. The walk to get there, does include the driveway, which is surprisingly gnarly, and most cars will need to park at the bottom of the property and walk up. It’s not a long walk, but do keep that in mind. The sites themselves are small and rudimentary, with one currently a bit more levelled, and the other still a work-in-progress, not quite levelled out yet. That said, that’s the site I stayed in, and with my small tent, I was able to find a comfortable place to lay it out, with room to set up my chair and relax for the evening. Admittedly, some aspects of Mike’s property are still under development, but I enjoyed my time, especially that spent at the beach, just across the street. I’d stay again if I was in the area, and know the next time I do, it’ll be even better.
