RV camping near Shelton promises Olympic-sized forest adventures along Puget Sound.
Hours away from Seattle but worlds apart, Shelton is set at the southern end of the Olympic Peninsula in western Washington. A bit north, Hood Canal is a natural fjord offering terrific opportunities for boating, kayaking, fishing, and shellfish harvesting. Summer campers can park the RV at waterfront resorts by the canal within Potlatch State Park and Twanoh State Park. Full hookups, picnic tables, and fire rings are available at most campsites in either park. Where the warm saltwater beaches meet forested hiking trails, Hipcampers can bask in stunning Pacific Northwest scenery while hiking through Olympic National Park. Take in the rugged mountain wilderness as well as the old-growth Douglas fir and western hemlock rainforest. Then, stock up on local produce at the Shelton Farmers Market for a nice dinner in the travel trailer at a back-in campsite in nearby RV parksâwhich may also feature restrooms and hot showers.
