Curley Creek Canyon

7 sites ¡ RVs, Tents10 acres ¡ Port Orchard, WA
Forest camping on a huckleberry farm with a salmon stream. 10 acres of permaculture and mycology includes 5 granite fire pits and loop trails with dispersed tent sites. A remote island, naturist beach and kayak at the creek. Parking is limited. Guests love it here: "We stayed two nights at Curley Creek Canyon and loved the experience! Jerrett was a wonderful host and met us upon arrival with great recommendations of places to explore on his beautiful property. The camp sites are clean, private, and have fire pits, and benches provided. We took the roped trail down to the creek (bring gloves its a bit steep) and saw large groups of salmon swim upstream. This time of year is magical with the dropping leafs and lush moss/fungus sightings. Highly recommend if you're looking for a quick getaway from the city to connect to nature. Thanks, Jerrett for the experience and look forward to our next visit!"

Dean’s Campground

14 sites ¡ RVs, Tents11 acres ¡ Auburn, WA
We are located in Auburn, Washington 3 minutes off Highway 18. Our location is ideal for those commuting between national parks, from the US / CA border, or a quick overnight to get away from the city. Bears, bobcats, coyotes and more frequent the property. Largely untouched by humans for the last 50 years (after a once-over by Weyerhaeuser), most of the property still serves as an unofficial refuge. We are bordered by King County protected wetlands, backed by a few newer builds, and not super stoked on the new multi-million dollar neighborhood in construction on the other property line. Our history - In 1975 Dean and Barbara Inabnit purchased 11 undeveloped acres from Weyerhaeuser. Dean’s plan to bring two manufactured homes to the property was only shortly delayed by a $20,000 bid per house to have the Coast Guard airlift the houses into place. The only option, it seemed. Dean took his $40,000 and purchased a bulldozer and tractor. Weyerhaeuser granted Dean permission to widen well over 2 miles of a county access road through the forest from the direction of the nearby fire station. He drug the homes through his temporary driveway and finally in 1978, the houses were hooked up to water, sewer, and power. They moved in. He spent the next few years building a logging road as his main drive from Auburn-Black Diamond, sourcing all materials from the land. Dean and Barbara finished raising their family here, and for a while, their grandchildren enjoyed the land, too. Dean is 82 years old. His children and grandchildren return every so often as guests at the campground. As a father / daughter team willing and able to tackle projects, we purchased this property in 2020. Our purchase allowed Dean to relax and retire to the Centralia area with family. We bought his bulldozer and his tractor, and he and his family are happy to know we are continuing their hard work.

Garden Zen Camping

5 sites ¡ Tents2 acres ¡ Puyallup, WA
Our house sits in the middle of 2 acres surrounded by trees and a creek that runs through our backyard. There are 8 kinds of fruit trees, 4 kinds of berries, a vegetable garden, flower gardens and shrubs, rose bushes and more flowering here during the spring, summer and fall months. The yard is covered with soft green grass, the perfect place to lay back and soak up some sun or sit under a shade tree. Which ever you prefer! Fishing the creek is also a nice laid back activity, the best spot being under the bridge on the left side of the yard. The creek is home to 3 kinds of salmon hatcheries up stream at clarks creek park and dog park. If you are feeling adventurous, you can float from the park back to our house. We have seen people on tubes, in kyayachs, on paddle boards and rafts come through! We haven't yet ourselves but plan to this year! It's not a very fast moving creek but it does ok. It is pretty shallow in some areas but over 6ft deep in others. We are pretty lucky to have an area that is over 6ft deep in several areas but also has shallow areas too! Learn more about this land: Coming to fish the salmon on the Puyallup River, visit the area or just want to camp?! Pitch a tent in our 420 friendly backyard, located 1 mile from the most favored spot to throw your line in and catch a variety of fish. Grass sites, huge shade trees with running creek to help keep you cool or if you prefer an open sunny area we have those too. Pitch your tent anywhere you like. We are by the train tracks, so if you are a light sleeper this may not be your cup of tea.  Parking is limited, so we will offer rides to and from the river if you can park off site. There is a few spots across the street from us also. Pack out what you pack in. Barbecue available for use, propane fires allowed during burn bans otherwise open fires are allowed. There is a charging station for your devices and a place to clean fish.  You can bird watch here for hours, or watch the ducks and geese swim up and down the creek and if your really lucky you will see river otters swim up and down the creek too! They are pretty cool to see!  We have outdoor toys and bikes for kids and volleyball, horseshoes, large dice, large scrabble, large jenga and more for all ages.  Fishing not permitted on property but there are a lot of spots to go nearby.  Showers are available upon request but are limited. Meals supplied if requested, must sign up by previous afternoon. Children who can't swim must wear life jacket if by the creek, we will supply them for you and if you want to float the creek we have floats available.  It's also nice just to sit by the creek and meditate. We are located on the outskirts of town so you can escape the city life for a few days!  Early and late check in avail. We don't have a strict check in or check out time.

Good 'Dose' of Relaxation

1 site ¡ RV1 acre ¡ Brinnon, WA
Property nestled above the Dosewallips River with tremendous views of Mt. Jupiter Ridge and the Dosewallips River. You will find numerous hikes in the Olympic National Forest within a short drive, a gorgeous waterfall and swimming hole within 5 minutes, parks, Whitney Garden & Nursery, boat launches, crabbing, clamming & oyster digging, wildlife watching, enjoying the Hood Canal, and much more! Or, just sit back and relax in tranquility, as the property sits at the end of a cul de sac just before entering national forest land. Be sure to leash your pets and keep a good eye, as there are wildcats, coyotes, and bears in the area. Learn more about this land: Pull your RV or trailer onto this lot and take in the beautiful southwestern view of Mt. Jupiter ridge and a peek-a-boo view of the Dosewallips River! Listen closely, and you will hear the sounds of the river below. The lot is equipped with power and water hookups! Please be aware the water hookup is near the main gate entrance and the power is about 40 feet apart, so you may need a long hose (see pic). Enjoy the view from the large deck, firepit, or picnic table overlooking the river, valley, and mountains. This lot is truly a little slice of heaven! Within a few minutes, find yourself at Rocky Brook falls (see pics) for a spectacular view and even a swim if you so please! Pleasant Harbor Marina (also shown in pics) also within 10 minutes! You will also find many hiking trails and parks nearby! There is weak cell service on the lot, so you may or may not be able to connect. I get 1-2 bars with Sprint. While this property is not very far off the Dosewallips road (35 mph), it is generally very quiet and peaceful. You may hear cars and motorcycles from time to time, but very faintly. The lot is at about 350 ft. elevation, so you may get noise traveling up the valley from the residential community below (to which I belong), such as dogs, people using chainsaws, etc. There is hunting allowed in the national forest, so you could potentially hear guns in the distance during the day, but that is rare. There are a few close neighbors, so please be respectful and quiet, especially in the evening. Please bring your own firewood when campfires are allowed and please do not forage for firewood on or around the property. Lastly, while the sightings have been few and rare, the neighbors have seen bears, cougars, coyotes, and bobcats near their homes and this property. So keep an eye on your children and pets, especially if off-leash (your pet of course!) The property also slopes a bit where the deck starts, so again, keep a close eye on the kiddos. You have a very good chance of seeing the local Roosevelt Elk that travel in huge herds around Brinnon (See pics). They sometimes lay down and hang out on the grass on the property! Make sure your pets have their flea and tick updates!

It's a King thing

5 sites ¡ Lodging, Tents5 acres ¡ Quilcene, WA
Welcome to Tranquil Acres. We have transformed our five acres in the “Pearl of the Peninsula” for the world to be your oyster during your stay with us. The Big Quilcene river is a water wonderland with private riverside access available to all campers just a short easy walk from each campsite. Here is where you can enjoy the cooling relief from the Summer heat, bask in the sun on cool Spring days, listen to the soothing sounds of the water and wildlife, interact with fellow campers, as well as fishing for Coho salmon in the Fall for a full meal deal experience. (Fishing license required). The river access “Common Area” is for all campers to enjoy with plenty of space to also have some alone time. If you are a more adventurous camper, Tranquil Acres is perfectly located to be your “home base” for extended stays, allowing you to explore the many wonders that the Olympic Peninsula has to offer as easy day trips. We are happy to answer any questions and share some of our favorite hikes, lakes, restaurants, and historical areas we have loved over these many years. My family has lived in this area since the early 80's and after almost a decade of renting this property and becoming a part of the amazing community of Quilcene, I had the opportunity to buy this land and “pay it forward” by creating Tranquil Acres for all to enjoy. My children that grew up here, continue to help and support this endeavor as adults. “It’s a King Thing”. Camping Etiquette: **Please read before booking** First and foremost, the road leading down to the camping area is a steep gravel drive. Going down isn’t usually a problem…it’s getting back up again. When you get to the bottom, the rest of the roadway leading to all campsites is a natural dirt road with tree root humps that isn’t designed for low clearance cars. AWD or 4WD is recommended, but please check with us before booking to see if your vehicle can have access all the way to your campsite and make it back up the hill. If not, we do have parking available at the top of the hill safely located next to our house, and transport options available to help you pack it in and pack it out without risking damage to your vehicle or the land and still enjoy a wonderful camping experience. Please inquire before booking if you have a low clearance vehicle so we can discuss your options. Please be respectful of the land. We are a “pack it in, pack it out” campground and wish to provide this space for folks to enjoy for many years to come. The Quilcene transfer station is located nearby and is open on Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday. (hours may differ on holidays). We do offer waste disposal as an add-on at checkout. Recycling must be separated from solid waste and contained in the bags provided and will have clear instructions of what is recyclable. Potable water is not available in the camping area. It is okay to use water from the river if you have a certified filter system (at your own risk). If you are the bold and brave that likes to bathe in cold waters, please be mindful of the eco-system and the damage that soap can do to our natural habitat. Dishwashing is not allowed in the river at any time. Like most campgrounds, our quiet time is 10pm-8am. Please be respectful to your camp neighbors at all times. Sounds carry easily in the woods. Play, explore, have fun, and stay awake to enjoy your space for as long as you want, just be mindful to use “camping voice” after 10pm. Communication is encouraged and appreciated! If you need anything, are having any issues with fellow campers, or just have a question… please don’t hesitate to get in touch… day or night. We love being able to share this wonderful land for folks to have a joyful camping experience in our neck of the woods with their fellow campers. Dogs are allowed at all campsites. Cats too if you have a camping cat! Please be mindful of your neighbors and that not everyone feels comfortable around dogs or may be allergic. Off leash is allowed if your dog is not aggressive with humans or other dogs. You know your dog best, and we will trust that you will use your best judgement in any circumstance while you are staying with us. If there is an issue in this regard, we will ask you to keep your dog leashed at all times, or under extreme circumstances may be forced to ask you to leave. We would rather not do either of those things, so please be aware of where your pet is at all times. Everyone loves a campfire! No one loves a wildfire. The lushness of the Olympic National Forest can be deceiving. Wildfires do still happen here and we expect you to extinguish your fire if no one is at the campsite, before going to sleep, and prior to departure. Firewood is provided as an add-on at checkout and will be at your site when you arrive, or you are also welcomed to bring your own. You will need to provide your own paper and flame to get your campfire going. There are many small sticks and twigs around every site to use as kindling, but please don’t use any wood you find on the land that won’t entirely fit inside of the rock ring. This is dangerous because wood holds heat and can continue to burn and ignite leaves, sticks and twigs outside of the firepit. If it is windy at any point during your stay, we respectfully request that you don’t have a fire while the winds are blowing. You can see if there is a recreational fire burn ban prior to arrival by visiting www.orcaa.org or send us a message. It is rare that recreational fires are banned in this area, but it does happen on occasion. Burning any kind of garbage in your campfire is not allowed at any time. Doing so means it is no longer a recreational fire and could permanently stop us from allowing campers to stay here. We offer a variety of add-on features that can turn your camping adventure into a glamping experience. Need a tent? No problem, we will even set it up for you and take it down. Don’t have a stove to cook with? We have that too. When we say: “It’s a King Thing”… it means we intend to provide you with an experience that leaves you feeling like Royalty. Thank you for taking the time to consider us for your camping adventures. We are thrilled and grateful to share our Tranquil Acres with you and look forward to seeing you soon! PADDLING: Quilcene Bay, Lake Leland as well as other options just a short drive away. WILDLIFE WATCHING: We have deer that wander through the campground from time to time and in the mid-late summer it is a real treat to see their fawns. There is a fun assortment of birds, owls and even herons and hawks that can be spotted while hanging out at the river in our common area. If you are lucky, you can even spot a bald eagle passing by. Grey whales and Orca whales migrate north in the late Spring and Summer and there are whale watching tours available in Sequim and Port Angeles. There is also the Olympic Game Farm Park in Sequim that is a drive through wildlife preserve that is a lot of fun for the whole family just 45mins away. (Absolutely no hunting is allowed on Tranquil Acres and we respectfully request that you keep your distance from wildlife for the safety of all involved.) NATURAL FEATURES ON OR NEAR THE LAND: BEACH: There are several Bays and Lakes in the area that I would love to tell you about that are easy to access…please don’t hesitate to ask. FOREST: We are located on the eastern side of the Olympic National Forest, and there is a Ranger Station just a couple minutes away. The rainforest eco system of this area is truly an adventure worth exploring, and our Tranquil Acres has all the native trees and plants of this unique region that makes it feel like you are living in the heart of a rainforest…but with less rain, and slightly warmer temperatures than the central and western side of the Olympic rainforest in the summer. LAKES: Lake Leland Lake and Crocker Lake are the nearest most accessible lakes in the area. There are many others, please feel free to ask about any lakes you find in the area and I can let you know if it is suitable for what you are wanting from a lake experience. RIVER, STREAM OR CREEK: Tranquil Acres is located on the Big Quilcene River. It’s beautiful and most of the time secluded (except during salmon season in September when there are fisherfolks that have public access to the river itself). There are many other rivers in the general area, but none quite as awesome as our little stretch of the Big Quilcene. SWIMMING HOLE: Yes, various options at different times of the year…and It’s COLD! Bring a float device for a gentler experience in the hot summer sun or have a bold and brave Polar Plunge regardless of what month it is. (AT YOUR OWN RISK, please be mindful of how strong the river current is at different times of the year and do not let young children into the main current without a life jacket or without adult supervision. Highly recommended to wear water shoes at all times/all ages.) The Big Quilcene is a River that anyone could slip and fall on the rocks regardless of age and how low the water is. WATERFALL: The Falls View loop trail just a few miles south of Quilcene is an easy 1 mile hike that has a spectacular view of the large waterfall that flows into the Big Quilcene River. I am happy to talk with you and answer any questions you may have about local adventures in the area. MOUNTAINOUS: Mt. Olympus reigns supreme over them all, but the Olympic Mountain Range has 9 other distinct Mountain peaks, and there are a variety of ways to experience this unique mountain range…just ask me how, I am happy to share the variety of ways to enjoy the Olympic Peninsula. FARMS: We have multiple organic farms in the area where you can purchase seasonal fruits and vegetables. There are also many community activities at various times of the year to get to know this little Pearl of the Peninsula.

Secluded and Serene: Summit Farms

11 sites ¡ RVs, Tents28 acres ¡ Olympia, WA
** Now accepting bookings for the 2024 season stays from April 1 - Nov. 3 ** We are Mitch and Michelle, 3rd year farmers selling at the Olympia and Tumwater Farmers Markets, South Sound Fresh, Certified Tourism Ambassadors and your Hosts. Our 28 acre property has a Heritage listed barn, is on the Thurston Bountiful Byway, and just minutes from the I5/Exit 99 - yet private and secluded - bordered by wetlands, and forest with both RV full hook-ups and dry campsites. Great for digital nomads, families, travel nurses, military and solo campers - safe, secure, and serene, Plus Enjoyable! Come to relax, have some fun, or both! Welcome! Our story: In February 2021, we saw this unkempt land and the dilapidated buildings therein, and KNEW in our hearts it was the place we would grow and gather for the rest of our lives. After a year of clean-up and repairs, and getting our farming business off the ground, we began hosting friends and family - eager to see our new digs. In the fall of '22 we decided to join Hipcamp and open up to “friends we haven’t met yet” so we could share this magical place. Even though our property is very rustic (sturdy shoe's recommended) and definitely a work in progress - we are grateful and excited about the idea that people are choosing to spend their time on our little farm. We are so appreciative of the beautiful reviews and that some have already become repeat visitors! We look forward to making improvements over the coming months and years for an even better camping experience. And most importantly we look forward to meeting and connecting with our Hipcampers! About The Property: This spot is truly a hidden gem. A turn-of-the century farm property located at the end of a private lane in unincorporated Thurston County, about ten miles from the State Capitol. The property is private and secluded, bordered by Millersylvania State Park on one side, wetlands and undeveloped forest on two sides, and the nearest neighbors are a quarter-mile to the rear. It feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere, with an almost 360 degree view of brush and trees, while just eight minutes off HWY 5. We have three RV full hook-up sites (5 total for a group or reunion experience, otherwise we like to give people their space), with easy back or front in-and-out access, able to accommodate up to 35t rigs. For our guests looking for a more natural and rugged experience, there are also six dry camp sites all chosen for their unique beauty, and well spaced out, so you get that “away from it all” feel. Each site has a communal or personal picnic table and a Fire/BBQ pit. There are also two port-a-potty's and a wash station in the center of the camp area.. While staying with us, you’ll enjoy the quiet peaceful setting, just right for bird-watching or nature walks. Find a perfect spot for your daily meditation, yoga or writing practice. Read a book. Listen to your favorite music. Lay on your back and watch the clouds or gaze at the moon and stars. Or venture out to Deep Lake at Millersylvania State Park (or other nearby parks, lakes or trails). We’re just 15 minutes from downtown Olympia - with lots to see and do, as well as all necessary supplies. You are welcome to hang out in our gorgeous Big Red Barn where you will find rope swings, a pool table and assorted musical instruments to jam on if that’s your thing. You can also arrange for a group dinner or movie watch... Imagine the possibilities! For two of the recent guest families, we put on a Saturday Movie Night on the 10 foot screen, projector and big speakers (dozens of DVDs available). We want you and your family or guests and kiddos to have a memorable time. We are Farmers, First and we specialize in a number of areas depending on the season. From April to June, we're growing and selling various vegetable and herb starts. The sunflowers are in bloom through September and we have cacti and succulents for sale all season long. In late summer we have tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, squash and later, u-pick pumpkins. We have an outdoor grow-house, a sunflower/pumpkin patch, and an indoor greenhouse (lit up at night). We are working towards our organic certification in 2025, (we use no chemicals or GMO) and a commercial food processing license so we can sell specialty salsas, sauces, pickles and relish. We also have 100-year old black walnut trees, hazelnut bush/trees and decades old other apple trees and on normal weather years, peaches and plums along with the ubiquitous blackberries and bamboo you are free to pick or cut (just ask for a cutter). Things to Know while staying at Summit Farms CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT: Weekday check-in time is between 2:00 - 8:00pm. Saturday and Sunday is 4:00 - 8:00pm. (We are at Farmers Markets until 3:00pm most weekends) Check-out is 12:00pm everyday. Since we like to greet each of our guests in person, direct them to their spot and answer any questions, we kindly request that you make every effort to arrive during the hours noted above. We have very busy lives (besides managing HipCamp), we sometimes we need to be away from the property, and we definitely want to be off the clock after 8pm. Thanks! *Note* If for some reason you foresee you wont be able to observe these hours, let us know as far in advance as possible, and we will do what we can to accommodate you. TENT SITES: Most all of them you can drive your Subaru or small truck or SUV to, it's just a bit bumpy and we can lead you there in the ATV. We're also happy to have you park and ferry you and your gear for check-in and check-out, if you feel like your vehicle can't make it. RV SITES: Though we have five full hook-up sites, we normally only list three available for guests as we think (and you'd probably agree) that it's best to have some space between (especially big ones) rigs. However, if you're a family or group of friends that want four to five, just ask about the availability. • NOISE: We are located in a very private and quiet area. However, we are near Olympia airport, as well as in the airspace which JBLM uses for training, so you may hear the occasional small airplanes and military aircraft flying overhead during the daylight hours. There are also two freight railroad lines that run along Old HWY 99 and through Maytown. They are hardly noticeable, until the midnight train comes through. (Think “My Cousin Vinny!”)… We find the sound to be quite nostalgic and cool, but we’re very sorry if it disturbs you. It is also possible you may hear some chainsaws or other farm equipment (sometimes in the early morning) from nearby properties. Finally, every now and again you will hear gunshots- which means either our neighbors are getting in some target practice or folks are enjoying deer hunting season. It never lasts long. We hope you won’t be alarmed. NEW for 2024: We have a dedicated washer and dryer for camper use in the lower barn along with detergent, bleach and softener. Please let us know if you want to use and for how many loads and we'll provide a price. • SHOPPING: The best area to shop for essentials is two exits north, off Trosper Road. There you’ll find Fred Meyer, Home Depot, COSTCO, Walmart and Walgreens. Capital Mall is about 15 minutes from here off HWY 101. If you’re looking for a specific type of retailer, just let us know and we’ll do our best to help you find what you need. • FOOD: Our favorite places to eat locally for quick and casual bites, would be “Infernos Pizza” in Tumwater, “Old HWY 99 Bar & Grill” or "Lady of the Lake" in Tenino (all less than 10 minutes away). If you’re looking for something more (seafood, fine dining, Tapas, Italian, Mexican), just ask and we’ll give you our recommendations. • PARKS: As noted on our listing we are just a few minutes from Millersylvania State Park where there are hiking trails, a beautiful lake and even a snack bar and seasonal beer garden! We’re also in close proximity to other places to walk, hike, boat or swim. NOTE: Every park we’ve been to requires a “Discovery Pass” and this is very strictly enforced (A one day pass is $12, a year pass is $35, and the fine for parking without one is $99). A FEW MORE DETAILS: We want you to be safe, comfortable, and most of all, enjoy all our little farm property has to offer. To ensure this, we’ve put together a list of things to be mindful of while you make our land your home away from home. 1) SAFETY FIRST: FIRES: While there are county fire bans in place, or if it is too windy, hot or dry to feel comfortable permitting campfires on our property (we’ll let you know), no campfires can be allowed. If fires are being permitted, please build your fire only in the fire-pits, with the heat pad placed underneath. Most every HipCamper knows, but never leave a fire unattended, and be sure to completely extinguish it before leaving the area (thanks!). We'll point out hose connections that reach and fire extinguishers we have placed all around the property (just in case). BBQ: You are free to grill on your BBQ with propane, coals or pellets. Again, please be extra mindful of heat and flames, never leaving the cooking area unattended until completely finished. Once done, please allow coals to cool, wrap in foil, and dispose of in the trash (you may use our trash can for this purpose, if you don’t want to bring ash into your vehicle). WILDLIFE: Please be aware that our property is home to much wildlife. To name a few, we have resident deer that roam freely, garter snakes in the tall-and sometimes not-so-tall grass, as well as hidden under random rocks and such. Recently, our guests have spotted a neighbor's lost black calf munching on low hanging apples in the early morning fog. The area is also home to lots of rabbits, and of course the protected Pocket Gophers (as you’ll notice their dirt piles all around). There are also hundreds of birds that reside in the area, including many birds of prey, such as eagles and hawks. And maybe you'll see Paddy the Ring Tailed Pheasant without tail feathers. Though never sighted, we have heard of coyotes, bears, minx, raccoons, skunks, and the like in and around our area. Thankfully, Blooms Ditch (you are welcome to visit on the south side of the west field) provides an environmentally protected barrier between the Doug Firs and animals from our property. So, if you're scared of snakes, or have a small pet with you that could possibly be the target of a hungry Bald Eagle-this is a heads up, to keep your awareness sharp- but mostly just a reminder to do your best to live safely, and in harmony with all the living things that we share our home with. *About the bees... We are very lucky and thankful that there are TONS of bees pollinating our land. You will notice honeybees, mason bees, bumble bees, ect all around. Please be aware that we have three Honeybee colonies living in the walls of the lower part of the barn, which are scheduled to be moved to proper hives in Fall '23. Most of the bees will buzz right past you doing their important work, but, we do get the occasional yellowjacket/wasp or hornets nest - which, as you probably know can be aggressive. So, again be aware, especially if you're allergic! If you spot a wasp/hornet nest in a place where you think it should not be, (DO Not spray with anything) just please inform us immediately and we we will contact professionals for removal ASAP. WALKING THE PROPERTY: You are welcome, and encouraged to roam our property freely. We have set up a walking/running/off-road bike path around the property that we're working on proper signage. It's about a 0.8 mile loop, or there is also a 400 meter (quarter-mile) (bumpy) running/walking track on the west field towards Millersylvania. Please keep the following in mind. Firstly, the grassy fields on our land can be bumpy, uneven, and have random holes and rocks here and there. We ask that you please watch your step at all times. Also, if you venture into an uncut area, please be aware of stinging nettles, blackberry vines and other such sharp and thorny bushes and weeds. Second, you are free to pick any wild berries (we have tons of blackberries) or forage for other wild plants you find on our land. You may also pick apples from the orchard. And lastly, please observe and refrain from wandering into our private resident areas, and work areas. And, importantly, do not cross the boundary into our neighbor’s property-Clearly defined by the bright green "No Trespassing" signs. 2) PETS: Your four-legged family members are welcome here! We ask only that unless they have excellent recall, or never leave your side, you keep them on a leash or in a pet gate, while outdoors. We have neighbors whose dogs roam off leash every once in a while, and we don’t want any curious furry guests to come or leave because they smell another pooch. We also have a two-year-old American Staffordshire who will be in our fenced yard or on a leash whenever guests are staying here. He is very friendly, but a bit socially awkward, and not perfectly trained yet. (If you have a friendly, medium/large sized dog, and you’re interested in meeting him for a play-date, just let us know). He'll protectively bark when he hears cars or sees folks but it's until he knows it's safe and then he just wants to get to know you. 3) THE BIG RED BARN: Except for the corner self-serve “Barn Store”, the lower barn is normally off limits, but just ask us to open as we’re happy to give the kiddos the chance to sit (safely) on the tractor etc. The upper barn is open for your exploration or simply to hang out. You’re free to bring food, drinks, books, board-games or a Bluetooth if you want to listen to music; just remember to please take anything you brought with you, when you leave. We do have some audio and visual equipment, as well as musical instruments which you can use. However, we ask that you please check in with us first, so we can help with set-up, and go over any use instructions. This is where we can put on a family or group movie night, (we'll handle the set up, and it's a very cool experience for young and old). Donations accepted for poor Family Farmers :-) 4) STARGAZING: we encourage you to bring binoculars or a telescope as Jupiter is high and bright along with Saturn and the star formations, and you might even see a meteor shower in one of the darkest local places we know (check dates especially for the Orionids, which are better than the Perseids.) The Moon and Mars are pretty spectacular here also! 5) BE NEIGHBORLY: *We ask that you please observe the 10 MPH speed limit, as this helps keep wildlife safe, controls gravel dust, and minimizes wear and tear on our private road. We've had big trucks with 31 foot plus trailers and no reported issues driving in, parking, etc. *Quiet Hours are from 10:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. please refrain from playing loud music, using loud voices and/or other potentially disturbing noise, to allow for those who are sleeping to do so (except for the midnight train, haha). *A few bins are located around the property, which you may use to dispose of small miscellaneous trash and recycling items. However, take your trash & recycling with you when you check-out, if at all possible - thanks! 5) OTHER POSSIBILITIES We had some requests on HipCamp about hosting a healing/wellness/yoga/women's groups, band practice or 100pax concert/club venue and the answer is a Big Yes! We're keen and happy to message or talk about any of your ideas for a "run of the place" package. We're on the Thurston Agri-Tourism Advisory Committee and we can connect you or arrange the best BBQ catering on-site for your team or group or big hungry family! Well, we think that covers it! Again, we are so glad to have you here, and hope you Love our place as much as we do. If there is anything we haven’t covered, or you’re unsure about something, don’t hesitate to ask. Most of all…Enjoy you’re stay at Summit Farms! Very Welcome, Mitch and Michelle
