We are a guest ranch and hunting lodge.  We have an onsite hotel, 3 guest houses, horse facilities and arena. We also have primitive and rv camping. Guests have access to our 7200 sq ft social barn.  The social barn has sattelite tv. Pool tables corn hole ping pong public restrooms and is where we serve meals.   .

Remote Lone Mound Ranch

Lone Mound Ranch is an idyllic, high plains, year round, working cattle ranch with a varied terrain that provides amazing 30+ mile views from atop the 1/4 mile long mesa to hiking the 3/4 mile long draw that cuts through the rolling hills. We have RV sites with 110 outlets for $10, 30 amp for $30 and 50 amp for $50 up by the highway or campsites available from groves of elm and evergreens to higher, dramatic elevations with inspiring, expansive views. You may want to visit our on-site ranch store for all cuts of our grass-fed beef and more! Cabins and remote camping sites include campfire rings for grilling and outdoor pets are welcome.  If traveling with your horses, pens are available along with miles of unpaved, remote, county roads to explore the varied landscapes. You can expect to encounter, both on the ranch and off, white tail, mule deer, turkey, hogs, coyotes, quail, dove, road runners and friendly locals always ready to stop and chat. We love meeting people and welcome new friends to join us doing all things ranch related, from feeding cattle and horses to improving infrastructure. Whether you're looking for souvenirs or wish to really experience the heart of Lone Mound Ranch we offer grass-fed beef by the lb, free range chicken eggs by the dozen, pastured goat milk, cheese, butter and ice cream & in season a variety of organic veggies to smother in butter for the grill! All organic and non-gmo. We also have a local soap maker that uses our goat milk to produce artisan soaps available for sale. We invite you to come as a guest and return as a friends.

Learn more about this land:We are a Route 66 motel. We have space East and West of the actual motel. We have one 50 plug in for an rv or camper. We have space to boondock if needed.

We turned the back-in site into a pull-through.

Whitescreek Lodge-Childress tx

This place was purchased from a family friend 25 years ago and was my father's favorite place to be.  He passed in 2009 and I am now caring for the property so To say this is a special place to me is an understatement.  
My dad would be proud that I am sharing our treasure with other people.

There is a dry creek that runs through the place called White'screek and when it rains, it completely fills up.  We have Beautiful sunrises/sunsets, and an abundance of animals to watch and enjoy (watch out for snakes!), this place is very secluded and quiet.  Adjacent pond with various fish also.

55 acres to explore.  Deer, hogs, various birds to watch and pond to catch and release fish in.  Cabin is fully furnished with 1.5 baths and 1 queen and twin bed all upstairs in the loft.  Also 2 couches and 3 recliners for additional sleep space on bottom floor.  Basic Amenities such as bedding, kitchen appliances and toiletries available.  No wi-fi or television.  Palo Duro Canyon is nearby as well as  Caprock canyon,  and the historic Indian Chief Quanah Parker's hometown nearby in Quanah Tx

Jericho on 66

Schaffer Farm is a 80 acre farm with 10,000 sq. ft. market garden! Located off old Route 66 in the Texas Panhandle.  Our fresh veggie season is from July through October or first freeze, offering corn, okra, squash, zucchini, tomato, variety of peppers, watermelon, cantaloupe and so much more. Our farm is far and wide, on a clear day our sunrises and sunsets are absolutely beautiful and can see for miles.   
 
HISTORY: Schaffer Farm - Located on Historic Route 66 "The Jericho Gap" and Ghost Town.  The Township of Jericho was founded in the late 1880's as a stage coach mail stop to change horses and feed any passengers aboard, settlers began to gather at the end of the Red River Wars in the late 1870's. 

1900-1902 Construction began on a railroad track built by the Choctaw, Oklahoma and Texas Railroad Company.  The first official train ran on July 6, 1902 through Jericho, cattle loading facilities were constructed to accommodate nearby large ranches and huge water storage reservoir was built by the railroad to refill steam engines.  

Jericho became famous in legend and folklore after congress authorized a new coast-to-coast highway in 1926, calling it Route 66.  It's passage through Jericho added prosperity with several gas stations, mercantile stores, Hotel (Historic Hotel Lyons) and tourist courts built to serve the travelers.

 "WHY JERICHO GAP" The main reason for fame came from the stretch of highway between Alanreed and Groom which went through Jericho, rains or snowy weather caused these dirt roads to turn into gumbo-like mud becoming almost impassable to the vehicles of the time and still stands true to this day.

Carolyn Jones, who played fictional character Morticia Addams from the Addams Family television and film series (1964) 

J.W. "Digger" Howard - Recognized for his community efforts and contributions to Western Heritage and his love for Team Roping which led him to the board of one of the largest team roping associations in the state at that time, The Texas Roping Association.

HISTORIC JERICHO CEMETERY: Established in 1894 after an unusual outbreak of Malaria killed several settlers. The cause was traced to stagnant water at the spring where drinking water at the spring was obtained.  Improvements to the facility were made eliminating the stagnant water.  This cemetery is still active and is listed on the Texas historic registry.

SCHAFFER HISTORY: The Schaffer Family came this way in 1894, settling 1 miles north of Jericho had businesses at Jericho, born and raised and died at Jericho are considered Pioneers of their time.

ACCESSIBILITY: Located off Interstate 40 and Highway 70, entrance to Schaffer Farm is at Highway 70 with Texas Flag right at the entrance.  Our farm roads are not paved and is up to guest discretion as to whether your rig has sufficient clearance to make it in. If you have concerns please contact us for a road condition update, as ease of access can change with the weather. 

WEATHER:  Accommodations during snow and rain will be monitored and travelers will be notified of alternate routes or alternate place to stay.
