Taste of Old Florida

A small but unique piece of land that was given to a family in the 1920s by the Florida Railroad Company. It stayed in the family until we purchased it. It is unique because the surrounding area does not have much tree coverage. This is
due to the ground underneath, which is a vein of grey marl. This is why the area is called the Allapattah (an Indian word for Alligator) Flats.
We are hoping that our county stays the way it is so people will know what Old Florida really looks like.
Minutes from I-95, but surrounded by the Allapattah Flats Wildlife Management Preserve. Located on Martin Hwy, which was recently designated as a Florida Scenic Hwy. Fifteen minutes to Stuart and thirty minutes to West Palm Beach, a world away from the hustle and bustle.
We realize that people also love Florida for Disney and tropical paradises but if that is what you want than this may not be your kind of place.

Surrounded by trees and park like setting , hammocks , fire pit, little sitting areas sprinkled throughout the Five Acres. Very peaceful setting aside from occasional bark from our dogs but the main house is about 500 ft away. This is a slice of paradise in the midst of some of the most diverse eco systems in Florida. The Property sits between the Indian River Lagoon and the Savanna’s State Park, mornings and sunsets will host an aerial show or local birds as they leave/return to their rookeries. We have a several gardens which we keep growing and changing. A vast array of Bromeliads gardens, Tropical Plant gardens, Our newest addition is a expansive Butterfly Garden as well as our Palm/Hibiscus garden which encircles the fire pit. While we do not have steps for direct River access, our Jensen Beach Causeway is a mere 5 min ride to Launch Ramps. We have 2 Kayaks available for a small rental fee of $10.00 per kayak/Day so you can explore our area by land and water. This is a little slice of Old Florida Paradise.

We purchased our property in 2017 and longed for the dream to build a home. Well, we built that home. We are now ready to share our place where we find so much tranquility with others. You can see how the old orange groves worked as we haven't filled in all the furrows yet. The old orange Grove is now home to cattle, horses, goats, ducks, and our little family.

Bring your RV away from the hustle and bustle of the city to the wide open spaces of the country. The only sounds you'll hear are cows mooing, goats baaing, and horses neighing. Sunsets and the stars are a site to see out here.
THE PROPERTY:
The owners live on the property with their 2 children and are willing to be helpful in anyway. Children are more than welcome to tag along. Being kid friendly is a plus for us as our kids might be running around enjoying their property. Can't forget dog friendly either. Our dogs love to greet our guests.
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS:
If beaches are on your agenda, South Causeway and Fort Pierce Inlet State Park are only 25 minutes from the beach! Our favorite place to grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner is Carter's Grocery, which is only 4 minutes from our property.
ACTIVITIES:
We have chickens that lay eggs and are great for eating so if you'd like some fresh eggs, feel free to go over to their house and grab some. We have a Pavillion with a fire pit that is welcomed to be used. Our dock provides a look out on our pond. Please feed the fish some food if you'd like. Also, take time to fish in our pond and catch some tilapia or blue gill. The kids have a blast fishing as the fish are easy to catch.
THE SPACE:
The site you'll be staying at is close to the owners house. There are 2 parking spots on asphalt that are available for the campers vehicles or park directly at your site. The ground will be grass that the camper will park on.
Please note: we have 2 gates with gate codes that shut automatically. Please be sure each gate closes behind you! We have free roaming cattle and other farm animals outside the camping area.
We are always open to recommendations on how we can make your stay even better! We cant wait to share our property with you and hopefully you'll find our place as somewhere you'd love to return!

We are a 36 acre working Florida Farm Winery and certified Agri-Tourism Farm and Nursery, as well as a well-known live music entertainment venue. The weekends can be busy, especially in season with our more popular events. If live music and other campers here are not a fit for you, we recommend visiting us on a weekday or off-season. But please know the camp sites are far from music stage, pavilion, and festival area, and the music is usually ONLY during the afternoons and over by 4pm, so the evenings are quiet. Many of our customers come back several times a year for our weekend entertainment.
After requests from our campers over the years, we do now offer upgraded power/water sites for a nightly fee.
Since we are a working farm property, there may be farm activity early some mornings, usually weekdays. We want you to know all this when deciding if we are a good fit for you to visit.

A small family owned and operated 5 acre pasture raised poultry farm. This is a working farm that sells poultry meat and eggs to the local community. If you have ever wondered what it might be like to live on a poultry farm -- this is it! Depending on the time of year there may also be bee hives located on the far back or very front of our pastures. Due to biosecurity measures you do not have full access to roam the entire farm and pastures. However, the RV spot is placed with a view of most farm activities. Our farm is home to free roaming hens, roosters, geese, quail, guinea fowl, ducks, turkeys and pigs. We have 4 livestock guardian dogs that keep our animals safe from predators. Both the birds and the dogs do make noise, so please keep that in mind. It's all part of farm life ! While we love animals and would love to invite your pets to stay, due to the nature of our guardian dogs we do not allow any pets.
There is grated spot for your RV with electric, water and septic hook-ups. Our farm is in operation 7 days a week and there may be poultry processing that is completed during your stay.

Perdido means lost in Spanish—a name which adds to the intrigue of this already mesmerizing camping destination. So what’s worth seeing here, you ask? Consider the white sand dunes and calm Gulf waters, or the vast, wildlife-filled estuaries. You’ll also love that over half of this island is dedicated to state or federal parks, which gives rare access to Florida’s natural flora and fauna. Whether you want to hike, swim, fish, sunbathe or simply explore on your Perdido Key vacation, you’re guaranteed to find what you’re looking for.
Where to go
Perdido Key State Park
One of many unique characteristics of Perdido Key: half of the island is in Alabama, and half is in Florida. On the Florida side, you’ll find Perdido Key State Park, a gorgeous stretch of white sand complete with picnic tables, dunes, picnic pavilion, showers and endangered wildlife. This is home to nesting sea turtles and shorebirds, with a boardwalk for viewing. Perdido Key State Park has primitive campsites as well as RV campsites, so there’s a little bit of something for every type of camper.
Johnson Beach National Seashore
This federally designated area is the perfect place to see nature and enjoy uncrowded beaches. This is part of Gulf Island National Seashore, a 215 square mile stretch between Florida and Mississippi. You’ll enjoy the lifeguards, bathrooms and paddling access in this area, and if you’re interested in hiking, you can enjoy the Discovery Nature Trail. This is a raised boardwalk that winds through many landscapes, including dunes, pine trees and salt marshes. This area does charge an entrance fee, so have a card or cash ready.
Big Lagoon State Park
This state park offers unfettered access to some of Florida’s most beautiful features. You’ll see sand dunes, tidal ecosystems and endless wildlife. There are 75 designated camping sites in Big Lagoon State Park, with fire rings, water hookups and picnic tables. Another adventure activity is the Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail, the entrance of which is marked by a half kayak and a weathered log book detailing past adventures. Most importantly, don’t miss the massive raised boardwalk winding through the park, which offers various viewing points.
When to go
The warmest month in Perdido Key is July, with January being the coolest. Since this is a top place to see wildlife, you may want to plan your visit around different hatching or migration patterns. For example, if you want to see sea turtles, they tend to come onto the beach for nesting and hatching between May and August. February and March tend to be the best months for visiting the beach.
