Monte Sano Mountain

6 sites · Tents32 acres · Gurley, AL
We would like to offer overnight camping opportunities for hikers and bikers exploring the Mountain Mist trail network on Monte Sano Mountain. You'll find our camping spot conveniently located just off the Goat Trail, providing a serene setting for your outdoor adventure. Please note that parking facilities are not provided on our property. We kindly ask you to make your own parking arrangements and understand that we cannot offer suggestions on where to park. Additionally, it's important to clarify that we are not affiliated in any way with Monte Sano State Park. The Goat Trail, mentioned in the attached text, is a scenic 2.5-mile singletrack trail that leads from the Three Benches to Mountain Mist. This trail, like many others on Monte Sano, is characterized by its challenging terrain, filled with roots and rocks. Hikers will encounter beautiful natural features, such as the sinks, and enjoy the craftsmanship of man-made stone pathways, bridges, and creek crossings along the way. Please respect the beauty of the trail and leave no trace behind. If you're interested in camping near the Goat Trail, we welcome you to reach out for further details and availability. Thank you!

The Bolo Club

60 sites · Tents5500 acres · Sherwood, TN
Our grandparents moved to the farm on Little Crow Creek on September 27, 1927 from up in Sinking Cove. They had six children with our dad, Charlie Jr., being one of them. Charlie Stubblefield Sr. was a very interesting man with a wide curiosity in just about anything that had to do with history, Indian artifacts, Civil War, fossils, oral history, religion and more. Therefore, the small museum on the property next to the pavilion is dedicated to our grandfather. Charlie Sr. and our grandmother served as Justices of the Peace for over 30 years. Further, our grandmother was the backbone of the family, and was a gracious lady with a special personality to handle the rigors of the day; we miss them both very much. The area has many interesting stories and legacies of characters of yesterday and today. Visiting The Bolo Club will be like stepping back in time to a slower pace where hopefully you will be able to enjoy the atmosphere and spirit of the farm.Learn more about this land:The Bolo Club has a unique combination of accommodations and activities, making it the perfect getaway. You owe it to yourself, so take the time to slow down, relax, and enjoy the sights, sounds, and atmosphere where country meets comfort! We have every type of camping you could ask for, from pitching your tent by the running creek to glamping it in The Lodge.

York Hollow

1 site · RV, Tent14 acres · Pulaski, TN
Campsite is located at the base of York Mountain. Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent, hang you hammock, or park your camper and enjoy the great outdoors. There are a couple of level spots for your tents, as well as a nice rock fire pit for you to use. There is usually plenty of firewood available and there is an outhouse on the site. The pond hasn't yet been stocked with fish, but hopefully soon it will have more than just frogs. But for now the frogs provide great music. This is a rustic campsite, with rocks, roots, and steep terrain. Please bring your own camping gear, including chairs, and please take your trash with you. There is plenty of privacy, even though you are right near a public road that has very little traffic. There are no other campsites nearby and the owner lives 1/2 mile away. Recreation nearby includes Canoeing/kayaking on both the Elk River and Richland creek (shuttles can usually be arranged), Stillhouse Hollow Falls (beautiful waterfall hiking), Trail of Tears Interpretive Center, and Big Creek Winery. Tents/Table/and cots are available to rent as well.

Mt. Doom's Haunted Woodlands

5 sites · RVs, Tents200 acres · Hanceville, AL
Mt. Doom has over 200 acres of woodlands that have not been cut in nearly a century.  We play paintball on a small part of the property on weekends and you can join in!  However, 90% of the area is totally virgin timberland and you could walk all day without seeing another living soul.  Lots of trails and roadways to hike and views off the mountains at every turn.  Less than 1.5 mi. from Mulberry River with whitewater rapids or swimming access.  Some say spirits roam these woods but not in a malevolent way, just strange noises, sudden winds and leaves moving or the feeling of being watched.  Awesome view of the constellations far from ground light clutter and an eerie quietness prevails.  Crows will follow your movements and talk about you right to your face!  An unforgettable destination stop that you will mark on your map for every visit you take to Alabama.Learn more about this land:Over 200 acres of undeveloped southern woodlands surrounded by corporate owned timber lands that are fully accessible for hiking or mountain biking.  Campsite overlooks 20 miles of unobstructed view from a grassy point on the last mountains in the Appalachian Mountain chains.  Very isolated and quiet with good view of constellations at night.  Miles of woodland roadways and trails where you won't see another person but might catch a glimpse of any number of southern woodland creatures.  A little noisy on weekends as we operate a paintball/airsoft field on part of the property, but otherwise you'd be the only people in the woods for miles around.  Paintball "extra" available if you'd like to try a survival game while you are here!
