The Wimmera is generally fine and sunny region of Victoria, big horizons and wide open spaces. Conditions are ideal in March/April/May and August/September/October, although camping will be allowed all year round, conditions in November/December/January/February can be extremely hot. During summer months proper preparation is required, plenty of drinking water and appropriate sun ware will be essential. Dogs are allowed on leashes, all dog poop must be entirely collected. Cats allowed only with collar, name tags and bells attached, any cat without will be treated as feral. Train and bus services are available to Dimboola from Adelaide and Melbourne Absolutely wonderful natural beauty, on the banks of the majestic Wimmera River. Great fishing, canoeing, rowing, bird watching and water skiing 1 km up stream. Boat ramp is available at Picnic Bend and at the South end of Lloyd St, the Main Street in Dimboola. First came site is adjacent to Dimboola and others heading upstream for about 2km on the eastern bank of the Wimmera River. The “Dreamtime Billabong” a frog paradise, is a cut off water body, from the Wimmera River, with amazing double canoe tree on the junction with the River. Wildlife that can be seen would be similar to that of the Little Desert National Park. Some very large goanna’s are present and possibly some snakes, most common are the eastern Brown snake. The snakes generally don’t bother people but accidental encounters can occur. There are also bull ants and their bit can be very painful. Campfires are allowed in compliance with all fire regulations. The fire restrictions apply in the Wimmera from approximately 1 st November to middle of March every year. Campfires must be attended at all times during this period, with 3 metres completely clear of all vegetation. TOTAL FIRE BAN days, are common in the the summer and ABSOLUTELY NO FIRES can be lit in the open. It is not far off the main highway, but far enough that you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. Around the property there are many old historic farm buildings, including an original 'boundary riders' hut (circa 1870's). The Yarriambiack Creek is the western boundary of the property, and is a haven for birds and wildlife such as kangaroos & wallabies. Ancient river redgums run along the creek which provide for nice shady spots in summer. The creek relies on seasonal rainfall, and when running, is deep enough for swimming or paddling around in a kayak. When dry, the creek bed makes a fantastic walking track. If you are looking for a unique family holiday, or you are an artist and want to do some songwriting or painting, or just need to get out of the rat race and chill out, then this could be just the place for you. 10 mins to Murtoa, 15 mins to the Dooen Hotel, 20 mins to Horsham, 30 mins to Warracknabeal, 40 mins to the Grampians or Mt Arapilies. A perfect base to explore the renowned Silo Art Trail, Murtoa Stick Shed, local lakes and waterways, state and national parks, and many other regional attractions. But if you are simply into nature or hiking, then just head north or south along the creek, and you will be able to walk for hours and take in the unique scenery. Please note, the property is 'pet friendly' but we respectfully ask that pets are not taken inside of the accommodation.

The Greyt Sanctuary is an 80 acre mostly open grassland property located equally between Halls Gap, Ararat and Stawell. We have views of The Grampians, The Black Range and Sugarloaf Range. We have kept it to 6 campsites across the property to allow our guests their own space and not be too close to each other. This way you can also enjoy the property and views almost exclusively. We have 4 rescue Greyhounds that you can interact with under supervision with the hosts. They are very friendly and entertaining to interact with. In the mornings and evenings Kangaroos migrate through the middle of the property. Guests are welcome to have a wander around the property during daylight hours. Amazing stargazing opportunities and wildlife watching.

We loved our time camping at the Greyt Sanctuary - the Grampians Views site lived up to its name. The site was flat and grassy, on the edge of a woodland patch that the kids loved exploring. Roos bounded past morning and evening. The composting toilet was a win - the best one we've ever seen! Melanie was a delight to communicate with and made us feel very welcome. We hope to visit again!

Our stay alongside the Billabong was perfect! The large open space for the Jayco Swan and en-suite, with views through the trees for ambience, was lovely. On our first day, Ross met us to ask how we were going, and reminded us that he was around if we needed help. A chance meeting in town, at the wonderfully quirky Victoria Hotel, saw him guide us to the hotels’ famous Australian art collection and tell of other town attractions. Ross left us lots of firewood for blazing fires, and the frog song guiding us to sleep made this a camp worth visiting.

Great easy campsite to chill with family and kids, has all the amenities you could need and more. Very well-thought out site, clean, grassy, dust-free, mozzie-free, sensor/motion lights in the trees light the pathway at night so you can't get lost, camels were entertaining, decking was great for step up into trailer, kids loved testing all 3 firepits, the trees were great to block wind, overall great site to just chill.

I loved the way Gold Deluxe was set up. , Hot water for washing up, and drinkable water was a definite plus. The host was wonderful meeting us at night to ensure we could find the camp-site. The camp-site itself was secluded and peaceful. Would stay again.

Our stay at Paul's was fantastic. Paul was there to greet us even though we were running very late due to mechanical issues. The site setting was peaceful, quiet, relaxing, and we had all the creature comforts we needed, plus lots of space in a bush setting. I totally recommend camping or taking your caravan to stay at the Yarriambiance creekside site.

We stayed at creekside camping recently and really enjoyed the peaceful setting. The site overlooks a dry creek bed with beautiful gum trees and lots of birdlife. There’s a small pond right at the campsite that attracted birds and other wildlife, which was lovely to watch throughout the day. The campsite is well set up with hot and cold running water, a kitchen sink, BBQ, fire pits, and solar lighting. We had 4 power outlets allowing. The bathroom was comfortable, with good hot showers and a proper toilet, which made the stay more convenient without losing the bush feel. Paul, the host, was easy to deal with — responsive to booking messages and quick to answer any follow-up questions we had by text. Our dog also really enjoyed the stay — plenty of space to explore and sniff around. This was our second time here, and out of all our stays on Hipcamp, creekside camping is our favourite so far. It’s a quiet spot, but still close to nearby towns — about 20 minutes from Horsham, with the Dooen pub and Murtoa less than 10 minutes away. Handy if you need supplies or feel like a pub meal. A good option if you’re after a low-key bush stay with comfort.

Second time staying here and just as fantastic as the first! It’s always so peaceful, spotless, and the perfect spot to unwind after a hectic work week. The fire pits (yes, three of them! 😊) are a real highlight, especially appreciated on those freezing nights. The bathroom is immaculate, with hot water and a clean toilet, can’t go wrong with that! Plenty of space for our dog to roam and have a good run around. Paul is genuinely welcoming, always happy to have a chat and help with anything. We’ll definitely be back again! We loved being riverside and townside, a double bonus to match the double canoe tree nearby. Double woodpile doubled the experience even more. Definitely double stars, times two, plus 1 to Ross. Fantastic spot. Nice and flat for the camper, and easy to see the kids running round. No other campers so was very private (though the campsites are not too close together anyway). Loved the newly finished 'green loo'. If we were back that way would definitely stay again. Hosts even provided a colouring pack for the kids! 10/10

We loved our stay at the Yarriambiance creekside deluxe campsite! The campsite was very well equipped with a bbq, sink, electricity, hot water etc, and only a short walk up the driveway to the ensuite. Not to mention all the beautiful little luxurious touches like the hammock, fairy lights and swing set! Such a serene location, it was magic waking up to the sounds of birds each morning, and watching the stars in the sky at night. A highlight of the trip was getting to feed the resident camels - such cool animals! We will definitely be planning to come back to this little slice of paradise.

Stunning piece of bush paradise, the peacefulness was so relaxing. The kids had a blast finding wood and riding their bikes on the huge abundance of flat space. And the huge kangaroos were incredible! Meeting Met upon arrival was a breeze, she gave us a great intro about her property, and also gave us some great info on what to see and do. Only negative was the corrugated road in, but again Mel told us that there was an alternative road which was much more kind on our car and caravan. Cheers for a great stay

The sandbar site was a nice flat private campground. It does have access to the river although quite steep. We unfortunately encountered a lot of wind which blew up dust and sand. Maybe camping a bit further back near the trees would have stopped a bit of dust. Ross the host came down to introduce himself which was nice.
