There are a variety of beautiful campsites suitable for self-contained guests who have their own toilet/shower facilities and drinking water. Campfires are permitted in provided fire-pits or your own portable metal fire-pit out of fire restriction times and feel free to bring your furry friends, making sure they're leashed at all times. Some sites also provide chairs and table settings for your convenience. The farm is completely surrounded by the Wellsford state forest which offers bush walking and many tracks for bike riding. Rainfall can restrict access to some sites on the property. The city of Bendigo is 25mins drive. Epsom is a 15min drive where you will find a shopping centre which includes a petrol station, Woollies, Pizza, Chemist Warehouse, Aldi, Brumbys Bakery, Reject Shop, Fish and Chips and BWS. Lake Eppalock is a 25min drive where you can engage in water sport activities. The Campaspe River is 10mins away. The farm is very quiet and restful with the sounds of abundant native bird life and provides great subjects and scenery for the photographic enthusiast. Loud, party groups with music at high volume are not permitted. Chainsaws and motorbikes are also not permitted.

If no camp fire would be a disappointment (and we wouldn't blame you for being disappointed given the camp fire is the main activity!), you are best to book for outside this period. Our 300-acre off-grid property backs onto the Barmah National Park. This forest, together with the adjoining Millewa forest, forms the largest River Red Gum forest in the world - it's majestic to explore. Our property is just 500 meters from the Murray River. From your camp, roughly a 1 kilometre walk through the forest. On our boundary is Backwater Creek, which fills with water when the Murray River is up. NOTE: Creek is often dry. It has water in it after environmental flows of the Murray. This can happen several times a year and the water lasts a few months. If you have any questions about water levels please ask before booking as it might be dry when you're here. We're located just 5kms north-east of Moama, where you can hop aboard a paddle-steamer, visit waterside wineries and soak up rich riverboat heritage. We offer a few large, beautiful, basic bush camping sites (the best kind!) in amongst 50 acres of bushland, with 100's of meters and trees between you and other potential campers. The rest of our property is used for cropping and sheep. Campers must take out what you bring in. Mobile phone service and internet is usually reliable, though with long weekends and summer school holidays the service seems to disappear! Completely. We suggest downloading (before leaving home) your Spotify faves and Maps for this area then you can't go wrong. *Please feel free to book anyone in your possie that is under 18 as a child.

The property is a working sheep grazing farm, with plenty of wide open space perfect for campers. We have several camping locations dotted around the property. All the vegetation is native to the area, predominately Blue and Green Mallees, with patches of Gray Box and Yellow Gum timber. Eastern Grey Kangaroos are known to graze on the native grasses that grow here. A number of bird species also populate the area, including Galahs, Magpies, Choughs, black and wood ducks etc. Nothing beats waking to birdsong and distant sheeps bleeting in the morning! Whipstick Forest is approximately 3km East of us, and has several beautiful walking trails. Spring, with its wildflower displays, is a particularly spectacular time to explore the area. Campers must be self-contained, with their own camp loo, and take all waste with them. Could I recommend this place? YES. Can I truly put into words how good it is? Probably not… but I’ll try. The family is so passionate about what they do. The care, love, and knowledge they have for their animals is incredible – especially seeing the kids so involved in running the place. The spacing between the sites is great, and the areas are nice and flat too, which made setting up super easy. As an avid photographer, I actually didn’t take many photos because I was so immersed in the experience and in their stories. Getting to handle the Highland cows was something I’ll never forget. An easy 5 stars from me. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The property is the perfect getaway if you want to get away from it all. So idylic and quiet. Our host Tim met us when we arrived, which made finding the camp easy. We booked right at the last minute, not realising it was a Victorian long weekend. We stayed for 4 nights in the Horse Camp, with our schnauzer and cavoodle, who had the best time ever, as this was, super dog friendly. Literally, you have the complete area to yourself, so you can choose to be protected, by the huge sand embankment or park yourself, under a magnificent gum. Tim owns 700 acres of land that has the magnificent Murray river weaving its way through the landscape. We would have loved, to have been right by the river but it was literally a 1 min drive or approximately 10 min walk. We left our paddleboard, boogie boards & noodles for the time we stayed, on the shoreline so our “new” friends, staying right on the river, could make use of them, with their grandkids. We were very mindful to not be annoying but they were so lovely to chat with. If you need anything from the shops, Nathalia is only 18 min away & Echuca 40min. we took a drive one day just to get a delicious gelato in Echuca ( Augustus Gelatery). So so worth it! Can’t wait to return and we definitely will have Camp 1 or 2 (camp 1 probably better for solar, as camp 2 you are very shaded). Fantastic place to take your friends or family, to enjoy everything this special location offers. Thanks for sharing Tim. Highly recommend!!

We had a great time camping here. The communication with Bec was fantastic - very prompt and accomodating. The site was large and spaced well away from others. We were warned of some noise as the mines shift swap occurred but we didn’t notice it at all. Good distance away from the dam for having little ones with you but close enough to walk down to and enjoy! Thanks for a great stay Bec and Cheryl.

Our group loved having such a large space to ourselves! Area had shade and was also lovely and open. Could see kangaroos in the morning. Gold mines are close by but noise is minimal, same with road noise. Rebecca was super lovely and even checked in on us during a sudden storm

Where to go

Along the Murray River

The Murray River winds its way along the border of Victoria and New South Wales, affording plenty of options for boating, fishing, and bushwalking. Once you’ve explored the twin towns of Echuca-Moama, on opposite banks of the Murray River, set out to explore the riverside and pitch your tent or park your motorhome at one of the beach camping areas.

Barmah Lakes

A 45-minute drive northeast of Echuca, Barmah National Park sits on the shores of Barmah Lake, where you can hike through River Red Gum forests, fish for Murray Cod, and paddle along the scenic creeks. Bring your boat or canoe to explore Barmah Lake or neighbouring Moira Lake, and take your pick of several lakeside camping areas.

Murray Valley National Park

The Murray River winds its way north into the River Red Gum forests and Riverina wetlands of the Murray Valley National Park. Bushwalking, bird-watching, and paddling are the main pastimes in the park, and there are several campgrounds with tent, motorhome, and caravan sites available.

When to go

Temperatures soar in Echuca during the summer months, and the milder spring and autumn months provide more pleasant weather for river cruises and other outdoor activities. The liveliest time to visit is during one of Echuca’s annual events, such as the Southern 80 waterski festival and the Riverboats Music Festival, both in February.
