Nestled under the Watagan mountains escarpment in the Hunter valley, the property has some amazing views in all directions, but still remains secluded and hidden from view. The property has been selectively cleared to maintain a balance of open land and untouched bushland which has a boundary to the Watagans National Park. The animal life is very diverse as many species transition from the Watagans into the property and many live on site full time. These include flocks of amazing bird species such as Gang gang and Black Cockatoos, resident Wedge tailed eagles, Kookaburras, finches, honey eaters, Coucals, Lyrebirds and more. Wallabies of various types are common, and Sugar gliders can be seen on the flowering Eucalypts. The camping areas for RV's sit on a large elevated flat area that border a large gorge with broken views towards the Hunter Valley vineyards. The Gorge (or Canyon) is rimmed by caves and has rainforest type trees in the bottom. The caves can be explored and the rainforest can be walked if you are fit! The tent and camper trailer areas are terraced into an area of slight slope with a number of sites to chose from. Non potable water taps are available at each caravan site and at intervals in the camping area. This water is clear fresh dam or bore water and can be used for showers, washing up etc. Two flush toilets are available for use by both RV's and campers. There is a central fire pit. We have a private site which has open views over the Hunter Valley to the Vineyards and beyond to the Barrington tops. This site has a cliff edge pool that comfortably fits up to 4 people for a dip. This area has a large fire pit that can be used to heat the pool in winter. This site has its own flushing toilet and Shower. This site is best suited to a caravan as it is terraced, though it would be possible to setup tents or a camper van in this location also. This can also be booked as a group site. 16minutes to Cessnock, 25minutes to the M1, 2.25 hours to Sydney central and 25 minutes to Pokolbin. The location is generally very peaceful with all sorts of wildlife. There is plenty of ground sticks for fire wood and bulk timber for purchase.

Next door is Oakvale Wildlife Park and close by is Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters and Go carts Go. A boat ramp to the Tilligerry river is 2.5 kms away which is a great area to fish and kayak . Popular bushwalking tracks are also nearby. Our local shops including a Bp foodworks, bakery, bottle shop, fruit and vege and Take away are 2.5 km away. Also close by is Murrays Brewery and Sunset Vines both with great food, wine, beer and weekend entertainment. While you are on the property and if you want to be apart of any extra activities you see please don’t hesitate to ask. If you are wanting to explore and head off property and explore the local area there is an array of things to do some close and some further away. We are 40 minutes out from the heart of Hunter Valley wine country, minutes away from a few local beaches; Norah Head, Catherine Hill Bay, Soldiers Beach or Caves Beach. All have cafes or pubs close. If you are wanting to head to the bush the Watagan Mountains which are our backdrop has endless picnic spots/look outs etc where you can enjoy driving, walking, dirt/push bike tracks or if you have a specific mountain bike buzz you can head to Awaba Mountain Bike trail. Download the National Park App and it will give you all the info.

Plenty of space to wander and explore. Park you van on the high side, but walk anywhere. And we have a very friendly cat called Gladys! :) Places of interest nearby might be the Bimbadeen Lookout, the Watagan Mountains viewing areas, Mount view look out - close to Wollombi and Broke historic villages. Lots of markets held nearby too!

We are unfortunately unable to take new bookings for the foreseeable future and likely until late 2026. Please check back with us later next year. Our property is private so we ask you to contact us first to ensure we can provide the facilities most suited to you. It suits off-road independent hybrid caravaners and tent dwellers. The river is home to mangroves (so mosquitoes feed the leaping fish), all manner of sea creatures and dolphins are frequent in drier periods. Birdlife includes an array of land and waterbirds, such as Eagles, Magpies, Kookaburras, colourful parrots and smaller shyer birds. The wildlife includes kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, reptiles. You may espy a Koala along the foreshore. For this reason, while we accept dogs, they must be on a leash (if not just for their own safety). The boat ramp has good access for kayaks/canoes. Or just sit on a camper chair and dangle your feet in the water while watching the mud crabs go about their social business. Riverside sites are not powered and do not have water or sewerage. They are situated within 10m to 25m of each other and if this is too close, we recommend booking two sites. Generally, we prefer campers to be 100% self-contained, with their own toilet. A toilet is however accessible, but some 300m to 400m distance from the dams and rivers. There is cold potable running water here for topping up. Sealed roads to the front gate to access the property from north and south. All-weather gravel road access is available, although paddock sites can only be accessed by vehicle during dry periods. Weather willing, we can provide more secluded sites by some lovely dams, (please check conditions if you have concerns). Activities include: - Bird/nature watching - Paddling/canoeing - Fishing - Bike riding (small motor vessels only by arrangement) - Surface type: grass or paddock leveled areas and others with slight slopes and accessed with 4WD (of course subject to weather). - Generally fair to good Mobile phone access. - BYO or Preorder firewood for applicable sites out of fire season. - No electrical connections unless by arrangement (for longer term Hipcampers) - We treat our own sewerage. - No generators please.

We looked for alternative ways of living 6 years ago so we purchased 220 acres to build an off grid camping/eco resort. The property consists of a straw bale house, Tipis, Cottages, 5 stars shared facilities (hot showers, flushing toilets - disable toilet ), outdoor kitchen (gas bbq, pizza oven, all kitchen utensils, pots ), solar system and worm farm septic system. The facilities of the camping are quite luxurious some guests labelling them "better than at home" so you can enjoy the bush experience & still have the comfort of a home. Here you can discover amazing wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, cockatoos, lyre birds and a lot of other birds (designated bird drinking stations through a WIRES program which has a lot of success.) Bring a camera and take in the incredible sights such as wildlife, cliffs, caves, and a magical view of Mount Yengo and Moruben from the top of the property. They are designated walking tracks around the property with all variable lengths & difficulties. Me and my partner stayed at the she oaks campsite the hosts were very accommodating and it was very straight forward getting to the campsite we went on a Monday and we were the only people there The property is beautiful and walking the river is a fun activity to do while staying The campsite is definitely 2wd accessible you do no you do not need a 4wd to access the campground In our stay it was rather windy the campsite is very exposed to wind I recommend checking the wind before your stay but Tbf i think we just got a bit unlucky and I wouldn’t worry abt that too much Definitely recommend keen to return.

Our review is based on a seven night stay in our caravan. Communication after booking was forthcoming and felt welcoming. Responses from the host to our messages were answered within a reasonble time. Directions to find the property were clear and accurate. Hosts met us on arrival and showing us to our site. Access to the site was easy for our forty year old caravan. The site was flat and well mowed with plenty of room to move around. Hosts were happy to provide assistance to us at the site. We loved the shade provided by a large sheoak and positioned our van to look out over the river flat where cattle grazed on grass right in front of us. We enjoyed seeing them every day and watching their antics. Location was perfect for us... close to Stroud, Gloucester and kilometres of countryside to explore. We felt that the hosts approached their responsibilities seriously when they checked in on us regularly and were helpful from the moment of our arrival. We'd love to return again soon.

1 night at Emerald Park Equine

I had a wonderful stay at Emerald Park Equine. I was kindly shown to my spot by Keelee who was happy to give me a bit of a background on the place and later in the evening I watched some of the horses being fed. The spot in the back paddock was divine. Peaceful and private. Horses in the paddock nearby and friendly cows came to visit me at my bus! A joey hopped down to drink at the billabong in the late afternoon as the rest of the mob of roos grazed nearby. The place is a balm to the soul - I slept like a log - and with the bonus of being an easy ten minute drive off the main motorway. You wouldn't believe it though. Felt like it was a million miles from anywhere. A magic property, well worth a stay.

We loved the Sheoaks campsite. It gave us wonderful shade on a very hot day. It is spacious, clean and grassy and is also private. It overlooks the lovely river. It is a very short drive to Stroud which has a general store, pub, butcher and a great cafe. It is less than half an hour to Dungog and Gloucester. Joanne was great to communicate with and always very prompt with her replies. She and Ian were very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this place and hope to be back.

Had a wonderful stay and Lindsay and Pam’s property. So peaceful and Lindsay and Pam were lovely. We stayed on site 1. Perfect for our caravan and under a lovely big tree. There is an open air shower and composting toilets. Just a short drive from Wollombi for coffee store. Would definitely return. Thanks

We were warm welcomed by Joanne. She explained a lot about the farm and area. We had a very large site wich gave access to the creek. Were you can swim and see platypus. In the morning we woke up with the beautiful sound of the birds. If it fitted in our schedule we stayed longer. Thumbs up for this beautiful site and owners.

What an incredible spot! Willowbank is one of those rare campsites that instantly feels special the moment you arrive. Beautifully maintained, clean, and level — it’s clear how much care and effort goes into keeping this property pristine. Our site, She Oak, was easily accessible with our 4x4 and camper trailer, and spacious enough to accommodate much larger setups too. The Karuah River is just a short stroll away, with crystal-clear water flowing over gentle rapids — the perfect soundtrack to fall asleep to. We were lucky enough to catch a brief glimpse of a platypus at dusk, and later in the evening, fireflies danced through camp — absolute magic. Our blue Heeler Luna had the time of her life swimming and playing in the river, and little Daisy, the hosts’ Heeler, quickly stole our hearts. Ian and Joanne were the kind of hosts you always hope for — friendly, welcoming, and genuinely warm people. The thoughtful little gift on arrival was such a lovely touch — it’s those small 1% details that truly make a place memorable. Surrounded by lush green fields, rolling hills, and the peaceful flow of the river, Willowbank is pure country serenity. Stroud is only a short drive away if you need supplies, but honestly, once you’re here, you’ll never want to leave. This was our first visit, but it definitely won’t be our last. Huge thanks to Ian and Joanne for sharing their beautiful slice of paradise — we can’t wait to come back.
