Bernard and Susan are custodians of the farm, primarily using the land for poultry (egg), pig, and goat farming. They are transitioning to an off-grid and eco-friendly lifestyle for their retirement. The Hatch Farm is home to many animals, most of whom are rescues - including border collies, cavalier king charles spaniels, chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats, miniature horses, cows, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. There is plenty to do and see around the farm from complete relaxation, interacting with the friendly animals (there is usually a variety of babies to cuddle!), to casting a line or launching your boat from the rustic boat ramp. Two powered sites are available for either a caravan or motorhome (that are self contained) with each offering spectacular views and breathtaking sunsets across the water. The site provides one of the best fishing spots in the area if you’d like to cast a line, or you can simply relax on the private jetty—or at your van—and watch the activity along the river. A slipway is also available should you wish to launch your canoe. As we are located on the North Shore of Port Macquarie, you will need to either access the property via the Settlement Point Ferry or take the dirt road through Kempsey (which can be in poor condition at times). THE HISTORY OF OUR PLACE as we know it: The Biripi people were the original and will always be the landowners of this area. They spent their summers on the mountain, while their winters were beside the coast. We are told, this area was once a women's only area, where they would bath and give birth. We respect those past and present who took care of this land and lived amongst it. This is Biripi country. Sometime after this, some people took over the land, and then offered it to others. Then cut trees down to build with, and put cows on it for over 80 years.. then we were offered it! And here we are today.... US: We LOVE hosting people, as we literally LOVE sharing this place with others. It’s part of who we are, but also a huge part of our bigger picture, in getting people re connected with Nature, so much so, that they want to protect it. Plus it’s so damn pretty here, all year around! Most are sitting on the famous Ellenborough River. • The Penthouse spot of sites is our River Flat. With it's hot shower, 2 composting toilets (still fully off grid), outdoor bbq/kitchen, gas & combustion stove & bar in shed (with solar lighting & fridge). PLUS A MTB PUMP TRACK! ALL PART of what you get when you book it! • The Ellenborough river is gorgeous & fresh, so paddling, floating, swimming, drinking and generally lounging around in it, is welcomed! And the locals often hang out together at the falls (where there are even deeper water holes) and the local made famous The Rapids (8 min drive away). *we will show you once you get here! bYO drinks and floaties! • ALL sites can accommodate reasonably large groups, SERENITY and RIVER FLAT can cater to around 100 OR more if you wanted them to. 2 composting toilets on these sites. (so toilets will be the main limiting factor for a super large group). • We book out each site ‘exclusively’, so only you, your mates and family will be sleeping next to each other. Which is why we have a min rate, versus a per person rate. And why most sites include from 8 people up to 15 people within their min rate. Pretty awesome deal when you divide by that! • Many sites are 4x4 caravan friendly (need good approach and departure angles), and yes, you don’t need to reverse them in, you drive them through making them easy to stop, enjoy your space and get out again! • Local sites are a plenty, whether that is go for a walk to see the falls, OR it’s a rainy day and you take a 45 min trek deeper into the Gondwana belt, where the big trees live, the turquoise water begins, and the Koalas, and Greater Gliders still live (so long as we can keep those pesky loggers away). • Most of our sites have had their roads upgraded, but some like Between the Trees can be a little more ‘4x4’ only. So always ask us if unsure. • YES we allow you to bring your furry friends! 😊. (aka dog friendly stay) • YES we are perfect for the newbie Mountain Biker or those who like a speedy downhill (blue rated), as we also have a Flow Trail AND a pump track available (great for groms and codjers). NOTE: the pump track is only for those who book the River flat at this stage. Unless you're good at making friends with those staying there, bring a beer maybe.. and you can ask them if you can ride it? • Fire pits on most sites • FARM mornings are FREE – just ask us when you arrive! 😊. Premium and exclusive natural camping at its best. Our farm is located on the beautiful Karuah River in the picturesque Monkerai valley. The river is a fresh mountain river running from the foothills of Barrington Tops. We only offer 5 sites across our 300 acre property giving you absolute privacy and a sense of serenity We were very pleased to have been recognised by Hipcamp as being one of the top 20 Hipcamp locations in NSW for 2022. Most of the year the river is lovely and clear and ideal for swimming canoeing floating on airbeds fishing photography or just enjoying. There is also some really nice bike riding and walking opportunities around the valley although you will be on gravel roads and we are only 25 min drive from the popular Dungog mountain bike park. You are likely to see a variety of birdlife other wildlife including black and white cockatoos ducks some lizards, occasionally wallabies, echidnas and if you are lucky a Platypus or two. We are fortunate to see platypus in the river frequently which is a sign of just how pristine the water running down from the mountains really is. You will have your campsite completely to yourself with no other camper near you. Privacy, tranquillity, relaxation and just enjoying nature is waiting for you. Be sure to bring your telescope as you’ll be amazed at the stargazing at night with no light pollution. With some lovely Spring rain the river is running beautifully and is great for a swim, fish or canoe. Swimming, canoeing and running the rapids on surf mats is always popular at our property and as long as the river is it normal levels and a lot of fun. However, we always highly recommend people wear some form of footwear in the river such as rafting sandals or old joggers or similar as the rocks are very hard on your feet and there’s a particular nasty little fish called a “Bullrout” that whilst rare can infect a nasty sting if you tread on one. No need to be overly concerned but be mindful. Our property is ideal for self-contained vans, camper trailers, medium motor homes, tents or swags, it’s up to you. There are no toilets so only suitable if you have your own toilet facilities and take away all waste when you leave. All toilet waste, leaving our property is very important and an absolutely essential requirement for all visitors. Public waste dump points are at Stroud, Dungog and Gloucester. Gloucester Dungog and historic Stroud village are nearby as well as Barrington Tops World Heritage wilderness area and national park. This is an operating farm and therefore farming activities such as cattle droving, fencing, grass cutting or hay making may occasionally be occurring somewhere near your site but we would always let you know. We are sure you will enjoy our farm far more than a crowded traditional caravan park or campgrounds. We do have some limited bags of firewood for sale at $20 a bag most of the year. These are heavy bags of very dry local Hardwood. You can also collect firewood along the riverbanks yourself or bring your own firewood for a campfire (subject to any fire restrictions) if that is easier and more convenient for you. When you make a reservation at the property we will always endeavour to put you in your preferred location as best we can. However if we are impacted by adverse weather or need to run cattle on certain parts of the farm then we may need to make a change to the actual site you are in and trust you understand. Each site has a fire pit and free firewood is supplied. There’s also a paved undercover area with a rainwater tank and a table and chairs to seat 6-8 people comfortably. We’ve got you covered with the creature comforts: an amenities building including 1 hot shower, 1 flushing toilet, sink, washing machine and power points for charging your phone. You’re welcome to stroll through the property, where you’ll see fallow deer, sheep, wallabies, and a variety of bird life. We love welcoming groups of family and friends to enjoy catching up in nature, and we pride ourselves on offering a relaxed, friendly experience. But if you’re looking to party, Diamond Park Campsite is not for you. We host a maximum of 20 guests on the property. Please read the full description before you book. Ta. The land is about 650 metres. It is in a residential street (houses each side). It is a gentle slope down to where the level camp site BUT I do not recommend driving down to the level camping area. even in a 4 wheel drive cars have been stuck and if it's been wet, you will be stuck and I have no way of helping you. It's about 20 steps from the street to the camping area. If you have a car/truck with the camping arrangement on your roof, this site is not for you. Sorry. Level area for camping is about 220m with water and power plus a 8m x 2.5m cabin for hanging out in the day, storage in wet weather. The cabin is about 25 steps further down from the camping. It is a gentle slope to get to. The cabin is not licenced to be slept in overnight but definitely hang out there. The outlook is lovely. The land is just 500 steps from Smiths Lake. The photo of the lake is the spot. It doesn't look that good every afternoon. That was one of those super magic sunsets; but it's often amazing. Town water is on and power is also on. Toilets are a short 3 minutes drive to the Frothy Coffee lake side with BBQ and toilet amenities

Only 45 min from Port Macquarie, 30 min to Wauchope and just 10 min to Long Flat where there's a Pub for takeaway, a social drink as well as food and sometimes live music on weekends. The General Store has general supplies, takeaway, PO and fuel. Retaining the peace and tranquillity of our property is important to us and why the number of sites and campers is limited. Although there are designated camping spots we're happy to be flexible if you arrive and would like to relocate within our extensive 'camping area' ...depending on weather conditions and respecting the personal space of other campers. We have livestock (currently horses) running throughout the property - some can be very friendly but please don't approach or feed them. We prefer no dogs but will allow if dogs remain well controlled, tethered or on a leash - this is for the safety of your pet as well as the livestock and wildlife. You will see and hear all kinds of wildlife, particularly morning and evening when they are most active. There are no amenities, rubbish or water facilities so come prepared, take what you brought and leave it as you found it. There is one only port-a-loo with pop-up-tent available for hire if required. You are welcome to take a walk or pushbike and enjoy the peace and nature but please no driving of vehicles or use of motorcycles or quads. PLEASE NOTE: Fire restrictions from September 1st and usually continue during Summer. Fire Permits are not required for fires for the purpose of cooking food, provided that: 1. the fire is in a permanently constructed fireplace. (or fire pit) 2. at a site surrounded by ground that is cleared of all combustible materials for a distance of at least two metres all around. 3. the fire is completely extinguished before leaving.

Please read the full description before you book. Ta. The land is about 650 metres. It is in a residential street (houses each side). It is a gentle slope down to where the level camp site BUT I do not recommend driving down to the level camping area. even in a 4 wheel drive cars have been stuck and if it's been wet, you will be stuck and I have no way of helping you. It's about 20 steps from the street to the camping area. If you have a car/truck with the camping arrangement on your roof, this site is not for you. Sorry. Level area for camping is about 220m with water and power plus a 8m x 2.5m cabin for hanging out in the day, storage in wet weather. The cabin is about 25 steps further down from the camping. It is a gentle slope to get to. The cabin is not licenced to be slept in overnight but definitely hang out there. The outlook is lovely. The land is just 500 steps from Smiths Lake. The photo of the lake is the spot. It doesn't look that good every afternoon. That was one of those super magic sunsets; but it's often amazing. Town water is on and power is also on. Toilets are a short 3 minutes drive to the Frothy Coffee lake side with BBQ and toilet amenities

The General Store has general supplies, takeaway, PO and fuel. Retaining the peace and tranquillity of our property is important to us and why the number of sites and campers is limited. Although there are designated camping spots we're happy to be flexible if you arrive and would like to relocate within our extensive 'camping area' ...depending on weather conditions and respecting the personal space of other campers. We have livestock (currently horses) running throughout the property - some can be very friendly but please don't approach or feed them. We prefer no dogs but will allow if dogs remain well controlled, tethered or on a leash - this is for the safety of your pet as well as the livestock and wildlife. You will see and hear all kinds of wildlife, particularly morning and evening when they are most active. There are no amenities, rubbish or water facilities so come prepared, take what you brought and leave it as you found it. There is one only port-a-loo with pop-up-tent available for hire if required. You are welcome to take a walk or pushbike and enjoy the peace and nature but please no driving of vehicles or use of motorcycles or quads. We had such a nice stay! The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. The site was amazing and we felt secluded yet secure. Our dog had the best time out of all of us. Very dog and kid friendly. Easy drive to the beach, and great spots to eat and have a coffee. The shower and toilet block made it feel like a glamping experience and we will definitely be back. Thanks to the hosts!

Loved the Big Tree camp site. Was very big and spacious with complete privacy and fully fenced to keep our Samoyed's and little bischon contained with no worries. Beauitful piece of heaven. Linda is an incredibly accommodating host. We stayed for our annual footy trip and all the boys had an awesome time! We had some loud music on but always turned it down respectfully as it got later. The property has heaps of space to spread out and enjoy yourselves. We played a few big games of cricket and even managed to set up a slip ’n’ slide for a laugh. 10/10 — would absolutely recommend!

Weekend Trip to The Hatch Farm - Port Macquarie

I loved my very short overnight stay at Hatch Farm because there were animals everywhere to pat, feed and just have around. I really liked to see all the different birds, feeding the goats, looking at the little lambs and watching the geese waddle. But best of all was patting the friendly Border Collies who came to say hello as the walked around the farm. On arrival, I was greeted by Bernie who explained the facilities and guided me to my perfect little site very close to the amenities. The drop toilet had charm and there was hot water available from an outside tap. There were other campers but everyone kept noise under control so I had a peaceful rest. I had to leave before 6am to continue my long drive home but would love to come back to stay for a longer experience, including a paddle on the river, with all equipment readily available at the farm. After one last pat of one of the dogs that had come to see me off, I left this little slice of paradise with a smile😀.

From the friendly greeting, to the wonderfull views of the river, The Hatch is a must stay. We couldn’t recommend it more. We have been wanting to camp here for a while, but it was always booked out, we can see now why. There is so much do and so close Port Macquarie, but you wouldn’t know it as the peaceful surroundings made it feel like you could be anywhere.

Lovely peaceful spot, removed from town traffic and full of native birdlife. Large site with complete privacy. Firepit provided. Overlooks the river, but access to the river is limited to your ability to scramble down a steep, bushy river bank. Our Rhodesian Ridgeback loved the freedom of wandering around the site and was curious, but intimidated by the beautiful cattle that grazed our way from time to time.
