'The Hut' is fully self-contained, with kitchen, bathroom, TV, ceiling fans. We supply BBQ, Camp oven, Chairs and Tables. It sleeps up to six guests, with 1 Double bed and 2 sets of bunks. All beds have Doonas and Pillows. For groups of more than six, we have the 'Donga' next door, which sleeps up to another four. The Donga has its own bathroom and beds in one large room dormitory style. Doonas and pillows are supplied. 1 double bed and 2 single beds. Tea towels, Bath mats and hand towels supplied. BYO Sheets and Towels. Group bookings of up to 20 are welcome using additional room for tents. Our second visit to The Hut didn’t disappoint. If you want your own secluded piece of the upper Clarence without the crowds and you’d like some creature comforts - this is your place. Jess has the Hut set up so you can just roll in and start to relax and watch that amazing view. The river also fished the best we’ve seen it with a 40+cm Bass caught almost directly under the hut!

Great spot, very private with beautiful views. Getting down to the river was a bit of a fun challenge via the nearest walking track, easier if you go for a very short drive to the recommended swimming spot. Jessica was great, helpful and easy to communicate with

Very private spot, you have your very own part of the Clarence and are far from the road so it’s really peaceful. The access is great and surrounded by green pastures and tall gums. The views of the river and sunsets from the cabin are beautiful!

The views are to die for and the hospitality is warm and welcoming. Jess is a fantastic host who has thought of everything and more to make your stay exceptional. The hut is corralled in a cattle free zone of its own, with plenty of space for a group to swag/camp in additional to the hut + donga if you prefer to sleep under the stars. Our kelpies had plenty of space for a morning run and a dip in the dam. We navigated access with our 4wd and Offroad camper trailer with no problem at all, although a 2wd especially if towing would not make it due to the uphill sections of the track. Great way to spend Xmas with rivers and national parks all around there's plenty of opportunities to explore.

Where to go

Minnie Water Beach

Sometimes called Main Beach by the locals, Minnie Water Beach is a 1-kilometre strip of white sand, popular for quiet getaways, fishing, and surfing—especially for beginners. The beach is patrolled during holidays, making it a safe spot for shallow swimming and splashing in the Pacific Ocean. Sign up for surfing lessons near Rocky Point on the north end, or launch a boat from the southern tip for deep-sea fishing. Then pitch a tent or stake a swag at nearby primitive campsites that are right on the water. For a comfortable stay, try a cabin rental or caravan park with electric hookups, toilets, showers, and BBQ facilities just down the road.

Yuraygir National Park

Surrounding the village of Minnie Water on three sides, Yuraygir National Park delivers quiet treks through natural coastal regions teeming with wildlife and ocean views. Angophora Grove walk and Rocky Point walk are popular walking trails. But the best place for watching whales and capturing sunset views on the ocean is from the Tree of Knowledge lookout on the south end of Minnie Water Beach. Campers who want to stay nearby can venture inland for a choice of holiday parks with caravan and tent camping options and several amenities.

Solitary Islands Marine Park

A day trip to Solitary Islands Marine Park, about an hour south of Minnie Water, includes everything from snorkelling and diving to learning about the region’s diverse marine life and the Solitary Islands, after which the park was named. Book a dolphin or whale-watching tour, or throw in a fishing line from one of the recreational fishing zones along the coast. With more than 710 square kilometres to explore, campers can rest easy from a resort-style cabin at one of the holiday parks nearby.

When to go

The milder temperatures of spring and autumn draw the biggest crowds to Minnie Water’s pristine beaches and camping areas. Surfing, diving, and snorkelling are preferable during summer months, while nature lovers like springtime’s bouquet of wildflowers that blanket the terrain. Fall is ideal for stargazing and campfires when the skies are generally clear and evening temperatures are chillier. Be sure to pack binoculars if visiting Minnie Water between June and November—the village has a prime spot for watching humpback whales.
