Brightwater sits beside Olney State Forest and Kuluwan Flora Reserve. It is a 50-acre farm with a lovely spring-fed dam, with our nearby campsite. The site contains van parking, an open pavilion, an open deck by the stream, a fire pit, and a dunny. It is private and secluded, and with just one group staying at a time, you are guaranteed the space to yourselves. Please go straight ahead on Collins Ave and enter through the car entrance, NOT the truck entrance which is off to the right. If you come in the truck entrance I can't see you. There are many beautiful walking and bike trails in the area. Lots of wildlife to meet, including water dragons, wild ducks, and pythons, to name a few. There is also nearby evidence of the original occupants, the Darkinjung people. You are also welcome to bring a couple of horses! There's a safe paddock with a trough and nice trails in the area to explore. The Kulnura General Store and bottleshop is just 9km down the road for basic supplies.

This property is a Pristine Riverfront property in Colo Valley. It is a tidal river with sandy shallow sandbars and 10ft deep swimming holes. There is an abundance of native animals here including kangaroos, lyre birds, lace monitors, platypus and more! Access is via a short dirt driveway to the riverfront camping area. The access is 2wd unless there has been significant rain it becomes 4wd access.We can accommodate both small and large groups with sites just steps away from the river. We have 2 water entrances, one is a large grassed area with shallow water which is great for kids & families. The other entrance is a natural sandy entry with a deeper swimming area suitable for adults. We also have a beautiful lagoon area where I can arrange additional campers. We have built some new flushing toilets (3) with a hot water shower.We are very accommodating of your pets. We welcome dogs and can host horses in one of the paddocks. Please ensure you contact the host prior to your stay if you are bringing any animals. We have canoes & floats which you can hire to paddle up the river. Additional activities here include fishing, swimming, bushwalking, canoeing & birdwatching. Dharawal Camp offers all the benefits of glamping. Enjoy a peaceful night's rest in your tent/vehicle, then hop out of bed and enjoy the peaceful surrounds of the cabin with access to a kitchen area supplying rainwater. With the secluded bush surroundings and the quiet, it's hard to believe you're only an hour away from Sydney. You might even see a Koala There is strictly no accomodation in the Cabin. The camp features a camping toilet and bathing facilities, gas bbq, a kitchen washing area, NO FRIDGE, a recreation space and dining table when the weather is bad. All you need to do is roll out your swag. Campers are encouraged to take their rubbish with them. There is access to power for campervans/caravans. Warm your toes at the outdoor fireplace whilst you chat with friends. (Please bring own firewood). You will be a 10 minute drive from the beautiful Dharawal National Park which has wonderful swimming holes and bush walks. The site is 15 minutes drive from Campbelltown, which offers all amenities of a large metropolitan city.

Weekend Trip to Shady Acres Colo River

Absolutely loved our weekend there. There was another group at the same time but the setup meant we couldn’t hear anything whatsoever. Right by the river which was nice. Got a decent shower, thunder and lightening on the first night and the ground still held up absolutely fine. Lisa had some big tables and even a bbq available to use which was a lovely bonus.

Great spot, very private and well equipped with shade structure, water, pit toilet, tables, chairs, fireplace and firewood. Great for a family or small group getaway. Nice bushwalks nearby, also a dam for swimming.

We absolutely loved the shack! It was full of life, art and amazing sculptures and it was so lovely during the summer. Lots of animals and insects around the place, so definitely felt like the whole place was alive and happy! We had an amazing time.

The experience was perfect. The campsite is close to a stream and a pond, with a great fire pit and tap water , a large shed to enjoy leisure time, and a convenient toilet. There are also several excellent hiking trails nearby, where you can enjoy the natural beauty when the weather is nice. It's easy to get in and out, and you don't need a 4x4 to get there(i drive a suv). All in all, it was an unforgettable experience. Five stars recommended!

We absolutely loved our stay at The Mountain Shack & having the whole place to ourselves in the middle of nature. It’s such a unique property — full of charm, quirks, and thoughtful touches. We spent the evening playing board games and drinking wine by candlelight, which made it feel like we’d stepped back in time (a little spooky, but in the best possible way!). There’s plenty of space to explore, we ducked into the nearby town to the Settlers Arms pub during the day, where there was live music playing in the courtyard, it was lovely. The hosts were incredibly communicative and helpful throughout our stay. If you’re after a rustic, one-of-a-kind getaway, this is it.

Our first time camping with the kids and we had a great time. The cabin with drinking water and toilet/shower was very convenient and very useful for storing things. Outdoor pizza oven was a big success. Was great to find a camp site so close to Sydney where we could also take our dogs. A short drive to the national park where we enjoyed hiking with the kids to the Minerva Pool.

3 nights at Dharawal Camp

Such a quiet place, the cabin was handy and had games, a ping pong table, electricity, a shower, toilet, fire pit, outdoor wood stove and hot water. Plenty of space for two tents, a swag and a 3x3m gazebo, 4 adults, 2 kids and a dog. The owner even come down to say hello and then left us alone for the rest of our trip. Was close enough to major shops but far enough away that you felt like you were in the middle of nowhere.

The perfect getaway! Me and my boys (age 6 and 8) had an amazing camp. Boys loved exploring the creek, swimming in the dam, fire at night, the rainforest walk, saying hi to the sheep and sleeping to the melody of the frogs. So great to just turn up with a tent + food and have everything else there for you. It was perfect. Thanks Cath!

Weekend Trip to Dharawal Camp

We had the best long weekend here. Our group of 10 friends plus a Labrador puppy enjoyed the super well setup campsite with a well organised campfire area and extra smooth and flat camping area. The hut with power, running (hot) water, clean compost toilet, a gas bbq, pizza oven, ping pong table and cooking basics made life super comfortable and easy and David was lovely too. This is probably our favourite campsite ever.

We stayed here with our three children. While it wasn’t the most ideal setup for a young family, the quirky, back-to-basics charm really shone through for our 5- and 8-year-olds. No phones, no iPads – just fire, play, and conversations. With St Albans only a few kilometres away, we were able to enjoy a day of adventure there, as well as Wisemans Ferry, where the girls loved paddling on the sandbanks by the park. The shack itself has loads of charm and would be especially perfect for a couple or a small group of adults wanting to cook, share a bottle of wine, relax, and soak up the nature all around. We still thoroughly enjoyed our stay with the girls – and they did too, which is the main thing. The host was super communicative and responsive, and we were well looked after. Shack charm – a winner.

We had a great time camping at Shady Acres. Lisa was great and very helpful. There was plenty of space, and lots of firewood available which we really appreciated. The river was lovely for a swim. We loved the sounds of the birds in the morning. The location was easy to find in the daylight but a little tricky to find at night time. We would definitely recommend!

We had a gorgeous stay at the Mountain Shack at Halifax Hill. A delightful shack with rustic beauty and an earthy, artsy feel. It had everything we needed and more- indoor and outdoor fires, board games galore, electric blankets on the bed, cooking facilities- all in a beautiful and peaceful location. Steve & Helen were responsive and prompt communicators and the whole trip was smooth and easy from start to finish. Our toddler and our dog had a ball, too. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing hideaway, perfect for couples, families or friends! Thanks Steve & Helen- we will be back!
