Our property contains the first road in and out of Colo - the original road is supported by hand built dry rock walls some of which are over 3 m high. Often referred to as convict built, but more likely built by freemen who were former convicts. The property housed the load master's residence who controlled the cargo boats that docked to collect the valley’s produce. This was then transported back down the Colo River which flows into the Hawkesbury river and leads to Broken Bay following the coastline down to Old Sydney Town. The beach diagonally across the river was landed upon by members of the First Fleet’s exploratory scouting party on the lookout for quality farm land - some of which is still in production today. Our property is on the uppermost reach of freshwater but with tidal influence. This deep water allows swimming and canoeing all year round. Our property is adjacent to the only council built canoe launching facilities on the Colo River.

Welcome to this remote piece of paradise! Rhapsody is located in Gingkin,, which is not far from Oberon NSW, about 3 hours west of Sydney. Campsites are hidden in a remote valley direct frontage to the pristine Hollanders River, adjoining the Kanangra-Boyd National Park. There are two private campsites on grassy river flats surrounded by eucalyptus forest. The sites are very secluded so you will see lots of wildlife and you're guaranteed not to see any other people! Only one group can stay at each campsite and campsites are on different parts of the river so privacy is guaranteed. In dry conditions 2WD is fine for Wallaby flat but in wet weather, 4WD is required. Platypus flat is 4wd only. You can always park at the top of the hill and walk down first if you're not sure. Dog friendly. Campfires permitted in a designated area when restrictions aren't in place. Gather your own wood from fallen timber on the way in or BYO wood. Not much firewood available on site. Both campsites can get quite cool as they are low in the valley. This is a wild and remote area. Guided remote bushwalks also available for those who are fit and adventurous. Both campsites have a pit toilets, cold shower, spring water on tap, picnic tables.. Water is sourced from a distant spring in the mountain and is gravity fed to the site by above ground pipe which heats the water during the day. There is a small area where you can get Telstra mobile reception at the cattle grid on the way into the property, but very limited mobile reception in this area. If you are on Optus or other networks you won't get any reception. There is no mobile reception at camp - perfect for disconnecting and reconnecting with nature!

Cooking fires are permitted when there are no RFS bans in place. Note: there is no water on the property so you will need to allow enough to ensure you have completely extinguished your fire before you depart. You may collect water from the creek. It is ok to collect fallen kindling, no chain sawing of trees. Wood is provided free of charge for small fires only. If you use the kindling please play if forward and collect for the next person. If you need more wood simply message me. There is a camping toilet with toilet paper and hand sanitizer supplied. If you need supplies Sofala is just 8 km away, drop in and explore the town. Hill End is 28 km which is another Historic town to explore. Camp Crudine is great for kids and adults alike to have a go at panning for gold or try out the metal detector. All findings must be returned to the host, lol. Campfires must comply with the local fire restrictions and guideline and must be contained in the fire pits provided. Bonfires are not permitted at any time. We recommend campers bring their own firewood as campers are requested to source only small amounts of firewood along the riverbank. Under no circumstances are trees to be cut down. Firewood is available at the Sofala General Store. Campers are required to bring everything they need and take all rubbish when leaving. Summer swimming in the crystal clear river and winter camp fires where you can toast marshmallows. The lower level has a cooktop "no oven or fridge share fridge at entrance of park", outside gas BBQ and tables. You will need to bring your own drinking water. There is a toilet and shower downstairs. The top deck has two small single beds and one double, quilts and pillows however BYO linen sheets and towels. The Little Creek Retreat is conveniently located 1km north of Lithgow town centre at the end of the road nestled at the bottom of the valley near a pretty little creek. It sits next to the heritage state mine which you may view and have tours on the weekend. We have opened 2 cozy sites with outdoor seating and cooking area fire pit for up to 6 people. Feel free to pet our miniature goats. They are very friendly. Please ask before feeding them! Camping toilets are available for use. Local kangaroos sometimes drop by. Plenty of wildlife with kookaburras, parrots, currawongs and even a shy wombat. Mini goats are sometimes on the property as well. There are many amazing local bush walks and plenty of fascinating history and things to do. Space for one car, tent, caravan or trailer 10m x 4m wide clear flat area with easy access next to outdoor seating. For larger vehicles book site 2. 2 minute drive to cafes and shops and town centre, bus stop is 100m, train station 800m. We are conveniently close to town. Lithgow tourism centre has plenty of information and activities to do. There are scenic lookouts, climbing, canyoning, bike trails or simply relax with great eateries and historical sites. Cooking fires are permitted when there are no RFS bans in place. Note: there is no water on the property so you will need to allow enough to ensure you have completely extinguished your fire before you depart. You may collect water from the creek. It is ok to collect fallen kindling, no chain sawing of trees. Wood is provided free of charge for small fires only. If you use the kindling please play if forward and collect for the next person. If you need more wood simply message me. There is a camping toilet with toilet paper and hand sanitizer supplied. Well behaved pets are welcome and we encourage you to keep your dog on a lead if they are likely to adventure too far from your site and disturb the local wildlife or other campers. No cats as there are many native birds. Please take all your belongings and rubbish with you when you leave. If you are interested in free accommodation, we are open to exchange labour as they is always plenty to do on the farm.

Camp Crudine is great for kids and adults alike to have a go at panning for gold or try out the metal detector. All findings must be returned to the host, lol. Campfires must comply with the local fire restrictions and guideline and must be contained in the fire pits provided. Bonfires are not permitted at any time. We recommend campers bring their own firewood as campers are requested to source only small amounts of firewood along the riverbank. Under no circumstances are trees to be cut down. Firewood is available at the Sofala General Store. Campers are required to bring everything they need and take all rubbish when leaving. Weekend Trip to C Colo - just beautiful

We had a great time with just two of us at C Colo but can see it would also work really well for groups too. There is variety between the campsites and we found a perfect little one to suit just us. Steve and Danielle were great hosts and we enjoyed a good chat. It rained on arrival but the land dried quickly and it wasn't an issue at all. We will absolutely come back to explore more on a longer stay soon!

Weekend Trip to Jila Camp Grounds

Camping at Jila Campgrounds was an experience. The mountain-perched site with river frontage is perfect, lovely for kayaking or just unwinding by the water. They provide toilets and showers, which makes things comfortable. The campground feels very safe, even for solo campers, and it’s pet-friendly so Kyoto was happy exploring. One great thing: there’s no reception or mobile signal, which is ideal if you want to disconnect. Just make sure you save all your important notes offline before you arrive. The owner was super helpful. When our car broke down, he helped us get it working again. That kind of support made a big difference. A word of caution: during a short but heavy rain with strong wind, a nearby car was struck by a falling tree. It’s wise to camp a little distance from large trees if the weather turns. Overall, I really like this place: mountain views, riverside calm, and a helpful owner. It’s about an hour from us, and we’d definitely go back.

I personally think the drive in with a trailer on the back is a 4wd road, not just because it's steep and bumpy but my 2wd was too low. Once in we had a fantastic time and appreciated being allowed to use the neighbours drive to leave from. Thanks for having us!

I loved camping at Jila. The spot was super peaceful, surrounded by shady trees and a great view of the river which was a perfect place to have a dip. Kids had a ball. Toilets were surprisingly good. 10/10 would come back.
